Y'know one rad thing about Stan Sakai is that he is super willing to draw Usagi dead, dying, being killed by other peoples' characters and so on lol. I'm reading Resident Evil 9 preview stuff and something that stands out to me is that they created a whole new woman just to be weak because "audiences don't want to see a weak Leon Kennedy." Girl audiences do very much want to see a weak Leon Kennedy. You need to understand, insecure heterosexual men are not the audience for Resident Evil and never would be. You have to be some kind of gay maniac to truly appreciate these games.

But it's the same kind of thing, there's always some weird cryptkeeper with money leaning on writers of popular masc franchise flaghsip characters and mascots like, make sure they don't lose here. Make sure they keep up their power level. So they created this Grace character (where is my beautiful wife Helena, where is my precocious daughter Moira, where is my other precocious daughter Shelly) specifically because they thought it'd be a bad time for the boys if Leon Kennedy got his ass shuffled by spookmen. IMO Narinder as a character is weak as fuck and has literally no sauce

The first half of the game hes just a generic evil guy who also has little to no involvement with the plot and most of his lines are tutorialazing you on game mechanics (which is a trait he shares with a lot of other npcs)

Then after you beat him to death and indoctrinate him into your cult he becomes regretful all of a sudden of mauling and killiing his siblings via proxy

His motivations are so vague and unspecified that a dialog of his literally changes depending on whether you chose a different card

hes so cartoonishly evil in the first half of the game and then turns into a wet sopping sadboy in the second that all of his chracter feels incredibly shallow and flimsy

he is very easy to project whatever you want onto and in some cases it can be for good, but sometimes i think its just poor writing and integration of it in the gameplay, because really thats what i think the problem is

Narinder is my favorite character because I feel sorry for him.

All the lore we’ve seen confirmed that he used to be a well meaning god driven mad by isolation.

Outside of that, I agree, he is easily the MOT FUMBLED character in the entire game.

Because outside of “implied lore”?

THERE IS NOTHING.

He gets nothing.

He doesn’t get to call Shamura out for their hypocrisy.

He doesn’t truly repent for his sins.

He doesn’t confront you, The Lamb, The Usurper, The FRAUD, on how you’re just like him.

He just gets guilt tripped into submission and used as a punching bag by the fandom and promotional material.

We had a potential character foil and we threw it away because writing nuance is too hard.
