copyright answer: I don't really know the extent to which I can give permission for this, because a lot of the elements are not actually mine; it's substantially based on the Crypto Coven NFT, which I saw and thought "someone should massively expand the option range and also make a picrew of this," and I am very lucky they decided not to DMCA it. That being said, from my understanding (which is limited and I'm not a lawyer), it... should be fine? You're not in fact using a specific image they made, I did alter a bunch of things when making the picrew, I have never seen a streamer get in trouble for this sort of thing, and the creators of Crypto Coven have always been of the opinion that other people can do things like "sell merch of a witch they've bought," there used to be umbrellas of those things. My guess is you're probably okay.

answer of my heart: Do whatever you want forever. I am honored and delighted that people want to use this thing for their face. Every so often I run into people who are using it for an avatar and cannot stop smiling. Someone cosplayed it once and I immediately dragged the photos to three groupchats going "this is the best thing that's ever happened to me."

I have never read homestuck.

However, it is also not an accident. The way I’d set up the color options on all the other tabs meant that this one had to be a twelve-step gradient; I additionally wanted each option to be easily distinguishable from the ones next to it in the picker, which ruled out basically all regular gradients. I considered using a rainbow but was concerned that there was no way to set up a twelve-step rainbow that wouldn't look like a homestuck thing. Then a friend said “I think you should just embrace it and colorpick the homestuck blood colors exactly, it would be funny,” and I did have to admit that that would be funny.

i just found your picrew and i'm obsessed!!! i was wondering if any of the clothing/accesory items were based on any real cultures? i just wanted to make sure so if they are, that i make characters who properly reflect that <3

some aesthetic inspiration was drawn from Chinese fashion for the feathered hairpins, and the jewels on the headscarves look kinda like Indian bridal jewelry, but I didn't take anything more directly than that. (This also goes for the makeup and face markings-- I might have created something that some culture somewhere has also used, but did not deliberately use makeup styles from any real-world cultural practice.)

I am not going to add more body types, because they require doing a bunch of things all over again to fit them and while I’m glad I have more than one I really don’t want to add a fourth. Sorry, I know the range isn’t as wide as it could be!

The intent was that the soft body type-- that's the third one-- is for plus-sized people; it's sort of hard to get at "is this a depiction of a fat person" when you're only looking at the shoulders and above, but I'm very solidly plus-sized and that's basically what I look like.
