Teyvat Interlude Chapter: The God's Limits

Let's take this in chronological order

I saw this maybe 10 minutes ago, not thinking anything of it and BOOM, Shining Shade reveal. At least for Istaroth, Ronova and Naberius/Rhinedottir.

I did honestly expect Rhinedottir to look a lot more like Albedo but she literally fused with a Shade, so.

However, heterochromia. One of her eyes is grey, the other yellow. I believe this is meant to showcase that Rhinedottir and Naberius are like two souls inhabiting the same body. Her pupils also have different symbols in them and if I'm not stupid, one of them is an old alchemical symbol.

Now comes speculation. For a pretty long moment, those three talk about the absence of Asmoday. I'm not completely filled in on the lore there but I'm gonna guess that's the name of the Shining Shade of Space or more familiarly, our Unknown God.

Ronova says at one point "we are Shades, shadows of the Heavenly Principals" and honestly, I have a problem with that. Shade 101: those four were created from the Primordial One, Phanes. If they're the shadows of the Heavenly Principals then it sounds a lot as if Phanes is the Heavenly Principals. Which doesn't work because I'm pretty sure he's dead.

And funnily enough, I believe this little short confirms Paimon to be the unknown god, aka Asmoday. "Unless, she loves her new master more than her own self", yeah I'm sorry but the coincidences aren't coincidenting anymore. We've seen on multiple occasions how much the Traveler means to Paimon, her design fits, the other shades can't find her, her cape is literal space itself, I think I don't need to elaborate further.

The fact that it's Istaroth who notices Pierro watching Ronova also ties back perfectly to her being the Omnipresent God back from Inazuma.

Then we have the Pierro face reveal and Harbinger Baywatch Scene, and I have another problem: there's seven of them. And lo and behold, that's all of them. We know Dottore and Pierro are with them, the tiny guy is Pulcinella, there's Sandrone and her puppet, second from the left is Arlecchino, there's Childe somewhere and I'm gonna guess the far right is Pantalone.

Also, this seems a lot like we'll be fighting the Shades in Nod-Krai or something similar. Anyway, I'm up for it, I've got a personal feud to settle with Ronova.

More speculation but wouldn't it be funny if Pierro killing Ronova would free Capitano? 👀 You know, Haha, just a thought

But the REALLY interesting part only comes when you think the video is already over.

"Per the 'Palestar Edict', we are to retrieve The Damselette from Nod-Krai whatever it takes."

Meanwhile, Columbina is just casually glitching out in the background. You don't see her face, she doesn't talk, she's just standing there. Menacingly.

She seems more and more like some higher, celestial being that's about to wage calamity on the entire world. Her needing to be "retrieved" on top of it paints her almost as an SCP type creature.

And then there's the fact that she's in Nod-Krai of all places and the Fatui need the Frost moon Scions to not intervene. As firm a believer as I am that Columbina is a biblically accurate angel, all of this together with her ties to music do make me wonder if she's actually the missing moon goddess. (Either that or she's a human atomic bomb)

But anyhow, this honestly felt like A Winter Night's Lazzo all over again and I can't wait for 6.0.

I have seen many posts circulating around that stated the Flower-Feather Clan is a Pyro tribe/we're lacking an Anemo tribe... and to be honest, I find myself taking an issue with it?

I have two suggestion:

1. The Flower-Feather Clan IS an Anemo tribe, but with a Pyro twist due to a mythological origin.

Everything about Flower-Feather Clan screams anemo:

• Their ideology of freedom.

[Chain breaker weapon lore. Telling about the Flower-Feather Clan's founder, Lianca]

• They have a Saurian sub-species that can fly.

• They literally has 'feather' in their name.

• All the current playable members as in 5.6 are anemo.

"But- but Radaedan! The- the tribe's color is red! And- and their Wayob is Pyro! So surely-" Let me speak first bruh.

The Flower-Feather Clan has another name, Tlalocan, and it's probably inspired by the Aztec's Thirteen Heavens, where each level housed different gods. Tlalocan is likely taken from Ihuicoatl-Tlalocan, where the gods who dwelled in them are related to sexuality, rain and water (like Tlaloc, god of rain and thunder, where we get the name Tlalocan), and finally, wind.

You see Ehecatl there? Right, lock in on him. Because he's important here.

Ehecatl is the god of the wind. He's also another aspect of Quetzalcoatl, the god of life, light, wisdom, and the sun.

He's represented with the planet Venus. The two other gods represented by the planet Venus are Tlaloc (his ally and the god of rain) and Xolotl (psychopomp and his twin). So you get the Tlaloc-Quetzalcoatl's connection.

You see, Ehecatl is tasked with moving the sun with his wind. So he has a close connection with the sun too.

I'm still not done. This sun-wind duo is already referenced everywhere in Natlan, such as:

• Kachina's saying of encouragement for the Natlaneses people in the 5.3 AQ.

• Citlali's Signature Weapon's Passive name.

• Ifa and Xilonen have pink-cyan braids/accessory. I think it means to be a representation between Pyro and Anemo. Also, Xilonen's normal attack is named "Ehecatl's roar".

As for the in-game reason of why the Anemo tribe has a close Pyro association... maybe because the founder, Lianca, was an adoptive daughter of CL-08 "Priestesss of Floral Candles and Skyborne Feather", one of the Dragonlords and Xiuhcoatl's, the Pyro Sovereign, kin. Her draconic heritage might influenced her clan's elemental affiliation.

Also, the Qucusaurus's ancestors are said to be in the closest form with the mighty winged dragons.

It's just like other Saurians' archives, that often compare their ancestors with ancient dragons. The Koholasaurus one even straight up mention the Hydro Sovereign, so I believe the ancient dragons here that these saurians take their forms from may meant the other Sovereigns' vishaps or even the Sovereigns themselves. But Natlan Saurians have the Pyro twist in them. It makes sense, Natlan housed Phlogiston, the origin of all elements, so no wonder their dragons mimicked other elemental dragons.

2. You are bamboozled! I still think that the Flower-Feather Clan is the Anemo tribe, but you might bring up Vanessa's tribe, so...

I believe Vanessa's tribe is the missing Pyro tribe. I mean, hello, fiery red hair and their ancestress was Murata, the Lady of War? They're Pyro bruh. But in the spirit of the Sun-Wind duo, it's kind of poetic that the Pyro tribe was stranded and finally made their home in Mondstadt, the nation of Anemo.

Edit: ah yes indeed. In the Chain Breaker lore, we have the poetic words of Lianca that might explain the narrative purpose of the Anemo-Pyro connection the Flower-Feather Clan has:

Genshin theory. Mild not really spoilers for 5.6 and Natlan Archon quest

Ok, so there's like a bunch of theories on whether or not Kaeya is cursed. I think the most popular is probably his eye being cursed bc of Dain and Pierro cover the same eye. However, as far as we know, Kaeya is the only Khaenri'ahn who was born after the cataclysm ignoring any possible time fuckery bc Teyvat time is weird.

So I have 2 theories. Since we also don't really know who Kaeya's mom is

1. People born after the Cataclysm just aren't cursed. Kaeya is our only metric so it could be possible. Also Arlecchino is not cursed either, not counting balemoon, bc she's crimson dynasty? But she doesn't have the general curse. So maybe since Kaeya is technically not of Khaenri'ah bc he was born after it was destroyed. Then he's not cursed. Or maybe being considered part of Mondstadt bc of his vision, it just cirumvented it.

Or

2. Kaeya is cursed and full blooded, but immortality is weird. What we know vaguely from Natlan, lowkey haven't finished the quest yet :/, Renova denies death to the Khaenri'ahns. She doesn't like freeze them in time? That's more Istaroth's domain. Capitano also said that despite not dying, the flesh still rots. So they're still subject to time. So maybe Kaeya is cursed, but because the curse doesn't "freeze" their time, he ages like normal, but just doesn't die. Which raises the question of what would have happen if he didn't get his vision. Like the trauma both Diluc and Kaeya would have faced. And some people might point to like Dain or Pierro, but Capitano did say he didn't know how they circumvented the curse. We know it's possible since Chlothar eledgedly dies. And Capitano kinda dies...

Oof wait, I also realized Dainsleif is like "so you remember me, then we are already acquainted" but lowkey like they could have met when Kaeya was just a kid and not pre-cataclysm. Also Kaeya said, "then you must be a full blooded Khaenri'ahn" which implies that maybe he's not, but like how do we really know.

Idk it's really not that important, but I thought it was interesting. But that also raises the question if like more people had kids post cataclysm? Bc like Albedo kinda, but he's not even technically Khaenri'ahn.

Bc another interesting thing is Kaeya being "the last hope" which maybe the other kids died so his father placed him in Mondstadt to see if he could survive and circumvent the curse opposed to him being like an agent. Bc while it's like believed by Kaeya that he's a spy we don't actually know if that was his father's intentions. I'm mostly getting that from the reveal that Albedo's task wasn't actually to find the truth of the world but his mom wanting him to "get a life". Maybe Khaenri'ahns are just emotionally stunted and bad at trying to help their kids.

If we wanna talk about Capi coming back lets look beyond lore reasons

Not adding Capi as a playable character would be one of the biggest fumbles that Hoyo could ever make, they HAVE to know how many people would hand over their life savings for that man

Maybe Hoyo MIGHT be dumb enough to fumble that man but I doubt it

Thank you, this, it would be their greatest mistake. Hoyo is greedy and wants the money and Capitano will be a heavy money milking situation. His lazzo merch is already sold out, his new merch is already nearing there - and he's incredibly hyped.

I think they know how many people want him and will probably be sorting it out for Nod Krai since it's Fontaine's writer this time❄️

Albedo is my favorite character for a reason and his mom is absolute bonkers

I finished the new Archon quest literally 5 minutes ago and I'm honestly speechless. Paralogism was positively off the rocks but holy moly, I was NOT prepared for that Lore drop

First, Genshin randomly decided to name characters with their full, entire name and I'm pretty sure that was Jeans in-game surname reveal but that's no where near the point

Because Rhinedottir is a badass lunatic

First we had Capitano who just challenged the Ruler of Death and won, now we have Rhinedottir who just ate the Ruler of Life.

I had been speculating if she was even still alive since years ago, since before Albedo was even canonically revealed to be a homunculus, but now it's not just confirmed that she is indeed alive but also that she's somewhat in contact with at least Alice.

But (and I have no idea how Albedo got to be so nonchalant about it) I never could have predicted that Rhinedottir is basically the Shining Shade of Life now. It makes sense, given that she is closely linked to the literal creation of life via artificial means but I have no clue how she even managed to "absorb" a Shade.

Not to mention Albedo basically followed in her footsteps now. He didn't directly create life but he did turn something human that was never supposed to be human. It's somewhat funny that he would just do that on a normal Wednesday when the same thing in big needed a form of alchemy that was only ever mastered by Rhinedottir.

It was cute seeing Albedo call During his brother though. While he and the dragon have technically always been brothers, it's obvious why Albedo wouldn't exactly acknowledge that.

Also, Wanderer. It was perplexing to see mini Durin without him but it does make sense. Wanderer didn't object Durin becoming human because little Kunikuzushi always wanted to be human himself. In that regard, I doubt there is anyone who understands Durin better than Wanderer. If we were to talk about adjusting to life as a human of course, Albedo would be the best "teacher".

Can't wait for all three of them to come together and talk about their "fake humanity"

Forgot to post this when this first dropped, but ARE WE MEETING SANDRONE IN NOD-KRAI??? Will we finally know if it's actually Alain Guillotin, after being teased in little world quests in Fontaine???

I feel like it's not fair to paint the entirety of the fatui as an "evil" organization - the entire point from the beginning was that they had differing goals and motives as well as methods (showcased first in the difference in work style between Tartaglia, Scaramouche, and Signora.) Out of the three, Tartaglia, (though still threatened Traveler and etc etc) is not inherently a bad person. It's shown how he cares and TRIES to do better things. Dottore is just one example of someone in the Fatui using his abilities and resources for bad things - and even if they all work together, that doesn't mean they LIKE or WANT to, Arlecchino was forced into the position upon killing the former Knave, and Capitano always had his personal goals first, Fatui second. Even in older cases, like again, Tartaglia, if i remember correctly joined the Fatui both in pushing his training and supporting his family. It's the same problem Traveler had in Fontaine - seeing every faction painted in black or white, good or evil. Would you consider Freminet evil? The entire point of the Fatui is to showcase all the different motives and goals that could be achieved through placement of power. No, I'm not defending what Dottore has done. He is a horrible person and I love that they portray him in that light. But the actions of one person doesn't dictate the intentions and alignment of an entire organization. If one manager at a chain restaurant was a bad person, that doesn't mean the whole franchise is horrible.

For years at this point I've been defending Childe as the most morally grey character in the entire game. Because yes, he's done bad stuff, yes he's a criminal, probably a murderer too but that doesn't make him a bad person.

Despite his criminal record and undoubtedly shady work for the Fatui, his SQ and even the Liyue AQ showed that, at heart, he's a childish idiot. He's someone who cares more for others than for himself, who puts his family first and would, without hesitation, take a bullet for the people he's fond of.

He's not good but he's not bad either

And I think that perfectly sums up the Fatui as a whole.

The Tsaritsa is still the goddess of love and described as someone so benevolent and kind, she had to harden herself — that almost sounds like a child living in a world that's just far too cruel for it's soul

The Fatui are shady, criminals, manipulators and probably broke every single human rights law already. But I think a lot of people are forgetting that the soldiers mainly act on their harbingers command. The Tsaritsa lets the harbingers do whatever they want as long as they fulfill their mission: bringing her the gnosis (and even that is negotiable).

Everything bad the Fatui did was planned by their harbingers.

Dottore is the one responsible for the mistreatment of Collei and the whole fake god thing, just like the entire ploy for flooding Liyue came from Signora's deceit and Osial's reawakening from Childe.

Under the leadership of someone like Capitano or even Arlecchino the Fatui have the potential to not only turn into a neutral party but even our allies.

That's why, despite how bad the Fatui act sometimes, I firmly believe that the Tsaritsa herself means only the best for Teyvat.

Something I see way too little people talk about is Zhongli's design

Specifically, the back of his coat

Because why did it take me 3 years to notice there's a symbol hidden under his ponytail??

It doesn't feel like some silly design choice, it feels like there's something more to this. Honestly, it could've never been there and I doubt anyone would've complained.

But it is there. And I can't remember ever seeing another symbol like this.

It's somewhat similar to the Geo symbol or the one for Liyue that the black zig-zag thingy is directly connected to, but even then it's nowhere the same.

Speaking of Liyue, I'm pretty sure we all know how it started. Liyue Harbor was built by Morax and the survivors of the Guili Assembly, a settlement that was originally under the guidance of the goddess of dust, Guizhong. When she died and the Assembly got destroyed, Morax took the people and led them south to where we now have Liyue Harbor.

So,

One god, one civilization

Two gods, one civilization

One god, new civilization

While the symbol is

One line, one square

Two lines, one square

One line, new square

I hope you can see what I'm getting at because I'm really pulling at straws here

In a way, that symbol seems to mimic Liyue's history. Of its beginnings under Guizhong, her alliance with Morax and the way he had to continue without her to form something new.

In that sense the tiny white square would symbolize Guizhong's death while the long zig-zag line connected to the symbol of liyue would be Morax' way to forming Liyue Harbor.

I doubt I'm right with this but if I would be, it'd mean that Zhongli is literally carrying the entirety of Liyue's history on his back

And I kinda like that though
