SAMAEL ✝ original character

the “ angel of destruction ”; a former member of the grigori, archangel and reaper. he is also the brother of azrael, the angel of death.

wields a flaming sword created by war, the red rider, and horseman of the apocalypse. tends to favour guns for his work however--- a flaming sword might be a little conspicuous.

a “ destroying angel ”, or colloquially, a “ destroyer ”--- samael acts on orders from heaven to, oftentimes covertly, eliminate especially dangerous sinners. this can include humans, demons, supernatural entities, and even other angels.

another significant part of his duties is the purge of undead; threats to the natural order of life and death, those who do not belong in the living world, such as vampires, zombies, liches, among many others.

far more stable and well-adjusted relative to his brother, although this isn’t saying much.

angels are conditioned to feel nothing in order to complete their duties in an unbiased capacity, though samael has been having trouble with that of late.

very deadpan sense of humour. bro hasn’t laughed properly in like 3495838 years.

he’s that one scene at the start of potc3 where elizabeth is disarming herself for like an hour and just pulls a whole arsenal out of nowhere. where did that shotgun come from? his ass? we will never know.

Maybe it had been for the best this guy hadn’t gotten involved in her scuffle with Blake, though for whose sake that was, she wasn’t sure. Whatever may have happened, it hardly mattered. What did happen was she’d gotten a harsh, irritating lesson in how things were going to work around here. A teaching that made her lingering grip on the handle of the knife tighten immensely, her knuckles nearly as white as the gloves that covered them.

Whether she would keep that teaching in mind whenever she came face-to-face with Ruby, she couldn’t honestly say. As far as she was concerned, it was worth an effort to defy such a disadvantage as her own anyway.

Letting the kitchen implement free, she turned to face the stranger, leaned back against the counter- elbows not quite resting on top- and raised an eyebrow expectantly. If her and Blake’s unfortunate conditions needed a stranger in the mix, she should at least hear what she could about him, decide whether or not he’d be a problem to deal with as well.

HE CAN FEEL HER EYES ON HIM, following his every move, but he owes little effort to convincing her of his intent. instead, samael meets her gaze for a moment, unflinching, before peering just beyond her, as if noticing something. he moves in, approaching her--- only to open a cupboard behind the counter. he scours through a few more, before coming upon what he is searching for: a small collection of mugs, a jar of tea bags, another of hot chocolate powder, and one more of coffee beside it. a kindness of their overlords to provide them with at least the essentials.

“ drink? ” he offers, removing the jars from the cupboard nonetheless, as well as a pair of mugs, readying a coffee for himself.

Damn it. If she wasn’t going to vanish or just die at the behest of the people running this place while laid up in her room, she had no reason not to get up and out. Well, besides the constant aching of her body from the less-than-victorious fight she’d been in earlier. Gods, she was already missing having substantial Aura. This would’ve been soothed and over with by now; hell, the whole outcome might’ve been different.

She descended the stairs with heavy, downtrodden footsteps, ready to head out and into this fucked-up world before she spotted a stranger. Another housemate, perhaps? Great, further annoyance to deal with.

His snarky comment wins her no favors- rarely had they been seen from Blake, so she could at least appreciate that part of looking at their horrid living situation. Still, she walks over and takes the knife offered to her, little more thanks than a minor eye roll, then stabs it with a concerning amount of force into the rack. Her face conveys the frustration still threatening to bubble over into an even more agitated display, and if THIS was supposed to be her but more chilled out…

HE ISN’T CONCERNED BY HER RESPONSE--- or lack thereof, yielding the knife to her without another word. judging by the manner of which she moves and behaves, she appears to harbour some lingering... frustration over what had transpired prior to his arrival. a pity he missed it, perhaps he could have spared some of the walls a new coat of paint. retrieving an overturned stool from the floor, he replaces it at the counter, dusting it off. straightening, samael’s gaze sweeps the vicinity--- no blood, and with another glance ventured towards the other, he gleans no signs of injury.

it seems her adversary had escaped unscathed, as well.

a tumultuous start to his unusual circumstances, but he must adapt, lest he create larger problems for himself in the long term. might as well make what he can of it for now.

IT’S CERTAINLY AN UNUSUAL TASTE, but... he doesn’t dislike it. of all the things he expected to do on this plane, trying salted popcorn with soft serve was probably at the bottom of his list. he hadn’t much else to which he owed his time at present, so, resigned to his circumstances--- at least for the moment--- samael takes another piece and swipes it through the fluffy white peak of his ice cream cone. he pauses however, catching another’s stare. amidst the pause, his eyes travel slowly to the horn protruding from her skull, where they linger.

“ ... ” despite his pointed stare, he says nothing of it.

after a prolonged albeit wordless exchange, he glances between the piece of popcorn pinched between his fingers, then the girl... before offering it to her. perhaps that’s what she’s after? if not, then surely she will indicate otherwise.

WITH A CRISP TUG, samael rips a stray knife from the doorframe, peering at the splintered wood gaping in its wake. considering the numerous other gashes marring the walls and floor, amongst the wreckage of what might’ve once been a home, it’s safe to assume he missed a hell of a fight. a quick flicker of his eyes left and right found evidence of violence littered throughout the first floor of the townhouse, though this seemed there were no other weapons lying around.

as if to answer his latent curiosity however, a stranger--- presumably another resident--- surfaces from the chaos, and he angles towards them.

“ ... you missed a spot. ” he informs her flatly, raising the knife in gesture. whether or not it had been her intent to leave it there was another question, one he didn’t care enough to seek an answer for.
