I feel like most of the dst fandom sees Willow as some female Wilson, and this is revolting. she is a really interesting character, that is beyond the mad woman with cute teddy bear. she deals constantly with childhood trauma, pyromaniacs habbits, trust issues, misterious deal with the Maxwell to burn others houses, a huge cursing vocabulary, etc.
Also, thinking about it, that’s because of Willowson. It’s the most enjoyed Willow’s ship, and one of the main ships of the Don’t Starve community (the others are maxwil and maxlie). And how Willow is portrayed in the ship, is related to how some people don’t see her as an unique and complete character. First of all, Willow is woman. And that’s why we understand that she is only a hole and a complete person in a relantionship. Because, for our awful misogynistic society, her gender is enough reason to conclude that. In addition, how we understand her character as it is depicted in the Willowson’s art, fics, etc. So, in a nutshell, Willow is this funny and silly girl, that is so in love with that man, that is constantly being taught about new things, and doesn’t have any problem related to pyromania. Like, she doesn’t have an impulsive disorder at all.
