How beautiful is it to stay silent When someone expects you to be enraged from them. And how beautiful it is to laugh When someone thinks you are going to shed tears.

khaadim:
Conceding for now, (he would find a way to make it up) Proteus followed that copper gaze. “That? It's a Ferris Wheel. You sit in a little... pod,” was the word his brain supplied, but he had a feeling it was wrong. “And it spins around. I can show you, if you want?” He pushed himself off the railing. “I'm Proteus, by the way.” For someone else he would have extended a hand, but he had a feeling this stranger would just study it as if he could find deposits of stupid contained in it.
Malek squinted at the words. A spinning...pod? This was unacceptable strange and it all brought another frown to his lips. Without commenting, despite the many things he had to say, the d’jinn leapt from his spot. A surge of red magic spun under him to catch slow down his descent. “Show me the spinny pod then, Proteus by the way.” His bare feet just above the ground, but Mal still stood much shorter than the vampire. Craning his neck with a bit of frustration mounting, he pursed his lips and blinked up at the man.
“...I am Malek.”
Crowds and lights forgotten, and heaving in a fortifying breath, Proteus focused all his abashed attention on him. “I'm sorry about that.” He chose his words with care, unsure of how they would be twisted around in that strange mind, what new meaning would blossom from the wrong word. “I wasn't exactly...” His gaze broke, flickered away; the fear of what his eyes might reveal. “Well... at the time.” It was easier to look now and he did, hazel eyes serious. “Can I make it up to you?"
Despite the nervous vampire’s concerns, Malek had long lost interest and quite a bit of his patience with the whole confusing ordeal. “I already fixed the window. You do not have to make it.” Even he could accomplish that with his waning power and an extra window just seemed terribly excessive.
His gaze turned back to the flashing lights of the Ferris wheel above them. “What is it?”
Proteus suddenly found himself looking into copper eyes, the lights of the festival dim reflections in the luminescence he found there. “Never mind.” His gaze moved back to the crowds before them, thankful that vampires couldn't blush at their own half-witted actions. “Ah no. That would be something else entirely.” It had been so long since he had tried to smooth over one of his own fuck ups and not someone else's that he found himself stumbling. "Stupidity maybe."
Wrapping an arm around his knees, Malek settled his chin atop them and blinked in reply. That was not an explanation, though he should not have been surprised. Only his brother and Chel ever took the time to make them properly. Izzy often did try, but his frustration surged once more and left his cheeks puffing with disapproving air. “It is good there are no windows here at the shiny place. I would not trust your stupidity to be around them.” And the glass had made him bleed so much.

Strange probably wasn't the word that Proteus would have used to describe it. Magic, though, was agreeable. Proteus was nodding along, shifting to rest his back and elbows against the railing, looking up at what he thought was a stranger - until he was presented with the idea that he was strange. And.... oh. Gods above, that... that did seem familiar. Proteus scratched at his jawline. “I don't suppose that's a metaphor for something?” he asked weakly.
Brows knitting, the d’jinn crouched in nearer to the other’s face. His gaze intent and unwavering for the moment. “What is a meta fore?” Blinking slowly, Malek pursed his lips as he considered the implications accordingly. “Is that why you enter places by falling into them?” It still did not make any particular sense to him, but neither did the concept of iced coffee cookie crumblies or the strange mirror disks that contained stories Izzy liked to bring him. Many things did not make sense.
ginsaan:
— But over Rakushou, the black magi stands guard for his king. The sounds of the city gears grinding into action take root incessantly inside Aladdin and Alibaba’s heads; Hakuryuu has been prepared. Over the ceaseless beat of magic settles a heavy, stiff silence – the silence of a quickly and efficiently hushed people.
So, then. This is their battlefield. And this proud smile the flag of reckless kings everywhere. (x)
The oncoming figure kept Proteus lingering, hazel eyes turned to him. He couldn't say the same for the man, but he understood. There was something about the way festivals painted colours across the night that kept him as fixated as this stranger. And the way the lights shone, he thought with a glance back, was as devastating and beguiling as any fascinating creature. His gaze flicked to the man. “It's beautiful, isn't it?” he asked, voice as soft as the ocean breeze that swept over them.
Slowly peeling his flickering copper gaze away from the spectacle, Malek glanced at the man below him. His feet paused in their movement as well, but the magic kept its weighted pull to anchor him there. “It is strange,” the d’jinn begin, a small frown pulling at his lips. “Like magic.” He knew what magic felt like thought and this energy was something different. There was something familiar in the air however.“Not strange like you are strange,” he thought to add a moment later. “Not falling through windows strange.”

[Request] Supernatural - The Genie
Proteus leaned against the wooden railing of the boardwalk, clasped fingers dangling towards the sands below. In a moment, he thought. In a moment, he would rejoin the crowds that he knew nurtured him till he flourished. He would win the plush unicorn a pretty girl had her eyes on. Draw some stranger into a dance to the music that floated around their spinning heads. Yes, all this and more. In just a minute. For this moment, he gave his thoughts to his home so far away and to the Isle itself.
Malek did not have such grandiose plans for his evening. The sounds and colors of the bright festival had merely drawn the d’jinn out from his quiet hidey-hole. Still, the dark figure kept from the limelight blinking up at it all with copper eyes. Strangeness abound, and it was all quite dazzling, but the crowds made him wary. The raggedy man frowned as he climbed onto the boardwalk railing to keep out of the crowd, balancing on tendrils of red energy that welled beneath his feet. He kept his eyes up, toward the odd spinning wheel of lights and didn’t notice the figure standing near him, or at least, he did not pay him any mind.

6 Creatures - [Genie/Djinn]
Breathless, she ran and told Aladdin, who was overwhelmed at first, but presently bethought him of the lamp. He rubbed it, and the genie appeared, saying, “What is thy will?” Aladdin replied: “The Sultan, as thou knowest, has broken his promise to me, and the Vizier’s son is to have the Princess. My command is that to-night you bring hither the bride and bridegroom.” “Master, I obey,” said the genie.
