The Antlers - Bear
F R I S C O (Taken with instagram) This was taken from the roof of the apartment we're staying in. Can't wait to see this view at night! I love this city so far.
The City by the Bay
I think I'm going to like you, Frisco. When I'm on an airplane, I listen to The National and only order club soda.
"They don't like my boney body They don't like my dirty hair or the stuff that I say or the stuff that I'm on
I know you're out there you might be right around the corner and you'll be the girl that I love"
Girls - Honey Bunny
My Top 10 Albums of 2011
It's that time of year when everybody is posting their "top albums of 2011" list. I always like to create my own list to reflect on what I think was the best music of the year and also to share a little sample of my own music taste. So, here go: My favourite albums of 2011 are as following:
10. Radiohead - The King of Limbs (Favourite track: Codex)
9. M83 - Hurry Up We're Dreaming (Favourite track: Midnight Cities)
8. Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto (Favourite track: U.F.O.)
7. Portugal. The Man. - In The Mountain In The Cloud (Favourite track: Sleep Forever)
6. Foster the People - Torches (Favourite track: Waste)
5. Mother Mother - Eureka
Mother Mother just happens to be one of my favourite Canadian bands and I'm very pleased to see two Canuck bands on this list (see Feist below). Mother Mother's album "O My Heart" is one of my favourite albums of all time and even if this album isn't as good, it's still one of the best of the year and makes it into the top 5.
4. Feist - Metals
This album is darker and heavier than Feist's last album, "The Reminder", and I think this is the reason that I love this album so much. Feist's emotions and musical talents shine though clear on this album and every song is a treat to listen to. (Also, Feist is the only artist on this list who I got to see in concert this year. She was fantastic!)
3. The Antlers - Burst Apart
I only just discovered The Antlers this year but once I heard this album, I couldn't stop listening to it. For about two months I would listen to this album almost everyday and I still can listen to it without getting tired of it.
2. Bon Iver - Bon Iver
I always knew that Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes would be my favourite two albums of the year after I heard them. If Bon Iver's first album was their winter album, then this album is their summer album and indeed, I listened to this album all summer. It's the type of music that you can listen to in any mood and it will compliment that very mood. Justin Vernon is growing exponentially in the music scene and the amount of respect he has (especially from me) is huge and the fact that he is appreciated by all communities of the music scene (he worked with Kanye West!!) is very cool.
1. Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
Fleet Foxes scores this year's #1 spot for a nearly perfect record. This album was probably my most played album of the year and I know that I will play it many times in the years to come. Every single song is this album is incredible and I love to just sit in the dark and do nothing but listen to this album all the way through.
The Honourable Mentions:
Gill Scott-Heron and Jamie xx - We're New Here
Young the Giant - Young the Giant
Jay-Z & Kanye West - Watch the Throne
Lykke Li - Wounded Rhymes
Here's to another great year of music: 2012!
(by GregÔry)
I love these upside-down reflection shots.
I watched this video a while ago and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since.
Basically, it's a speech from a 1940's Charlie Chaplin film (one of his only talking pictures) that satires Nazism and Adolf Hitler. The context of the speech doesn't really matter though because it has been filled with other clips and new music by this YouTube user.
What I find amazing is how relevant this speech is today even though it was written in 1940 and for a comedic film. I guess it shows the genius of Charlie Chaplin.
Anyway, take a moment to watch if you are able to. I think you will enjoy it.

What are those specks? That is Feist and her band and even though the view wasn't great, it was a fantastic performance. (Taken with instagram)
