🌋 ― “God no. What would I even do with a town?” He laughed. “Small towns. So boring.. but the drama?  Unparalleled.” Mystic Falls had that supernatural drama on lock. Dimitri stepped over and gave them a friendly pat to the shoulder. “I mean it. Thanks. I really miss having a bed.” He grinned at his own joke.

“There’s lots of things to do with property. In this place, I’d recommend bulldozing all of it. There’s not a single redeemable spot in the town limits. It’s all inherently cursed, good gossip or not.” Maybe the gollum was a tad bitter for having been murdered there, but who could blame them. “Are you sure you won’t miss your dirt naps?”

“A distraction?” Joey nearly laughed. “A distraction from what? Gloom and doom? From my point of view she could use some time to just be a young girl and enjoy her life rather than wondering what the next thing to go wrong will be.”

“Believe me, if anyone understands that she needs time to enjoy her life, it’s me.” Ryan had spent most of their existence pulling double duty for their father, taking care of their siblings, trying to make their father’s dreams come true, and never living for themselves. Sometimes, they wondered what it would be like to live for themself, if only for a day, but there was no time for it. “I want her to survive this, I want her to overcome this, but she can’t do it if you’re only focused on the temporary bliss.”

“You people and your why’s... isn’t the fact they killed me enough?” the golem scoffed, rolling their eyes before nodding. “Yeah, yeah, whatever, let’s focus on saving whoever an getting out of here, sister.”

🌋 ― “Cut the shit,” he snapped, but he wasn’t done ― his tone staying sharp to contrast the words that were intentionally playful. “We both know it’s just mud up there, for the both of us.” It was the kind of thing that helped Dimitri process this kind of stress. Though he had to credit it to his brother, for without them setting the joke up, he wouldn’t have had the capacity to let out one of his own. “Plans?  What kind of plans?” Ryan always had plans, and not always the kind that he could agree on. Rarely, actually.

“Someone’s in a mood.” Ryan wasn’t sure the last time they had heard ther brother speak so seriously, even if the words had an air of amusement to them as he commented on the fact the only thing filling their heads was mud. “Speak for yourself.” they tried to interject, though their attempt to lighten the conversation fell rather flat all things considered. “You’ve never been great with plans, Dimitri, I’d write step by step instructions... I’ll focus on the plan, and you focus on where you’re going to sleep without turning into a mudslide the next time it rains.”

“ it may not be our problem, but if we dont help then what happens to them?” She shook her head in frustration. “We are pretty much indestructible, so what the harm in helping?” She had always been the social justice warrior of the lot and however they all felt about the humans they didnt deserve to die like this.

“did you miss the part where i just said they let me die, lorelei? i owe them nothing... i owe them less than nothing. other than you and dimitri, the only person i care about is the most powerful person here, so she is the least of my worries.” siblings were complicated, especially their family. differing moralities, loyalties, emotions and feelings. sometimes it was enough to make ryan want to scream, but at the end of the day, they only had each other. “you know what, fine, lets help the helpless towns people, then get dimitri, and then get out. better?”

“Who said I would?” Joey asked. “I know I all that.” He knew very well that she was someone extraordinary. “All I’m hearing is the words of someone who is very jealous, so I’m not bothered. Hope can make her own decisions and right now her choice is to spend her time with me.”

“Actions speak louder than words, and you didn’t have to say a word, witch.”  Although Hope Mikaelson was dearer to the golem than they would have admitted out loud, they didn’t truly care who she brought to the event.  They did care that they seemed to be taking the event so casually, as if danger wasn’t lurking around every corner. “I don’t care about who she decides to waste her time on, or what she does with her free time, she’d her own person. I only care that you’re a distraction, and an annoying one at that. Hardly something to be jealous of.”

🌋 ― He was accustomed to Ryan’s backhanded compliments, but this one felt a little different. Maybe it just hit on the right aspect, or maybe Dimitri really had just missed his brother. “I am pretty slippery.” There was a flash of a proud grin, and he couldn’t help but think of their own cleverness. “You’ll regret that later.” He grinned again. “Thanks, Ry. Honest.” Then he sighed, the nerves pooling off his lips. “Everything’s changing, isn’t it?  Really this time.”

“Unless you plan on buying every inch of this pitiful town at once, I’m sure we’ll manage just fine. I planned for the future, invested, made the money work for me... it might as well work for you.” Though he was chuckling, there was a somber note to it. His money wasn’t doing anything other than growing in the bank while he was dead, and if things went south, it would only continue to to do so. The least he could do  was put it to some use. “I’ll order one next week and give it to you as soon as it comes in.”
