Pennsatucky Epiphany

Pennsatucky’s mom made her drink an entire bottle of Mountain Dew when she was little so that Tucky would be hyper and appear to have an intellectual disability. And then her mom could get handouts from the government.

Then, Tucky got her period as a little girl and her mom told her to let boys “get in and out” “like a bee sting”.

Then, as a young adult Tucky had creeps doing things to her as crappy transactions because she took the advice of her mom who was always looking for ways to get money and told Tucky to let boys use her.

Then, when Tucky was raped by that creep after her boyfriend left the party, the creep offered her MOUNTAIN DEW before doing it. She realized after having someone love her and treat her right that she was better than letting people violate her for stuff and turned him down but he went on to rape her.

I just think it’s disgusting and brilliant how the show connects the concepts of force and transactions and value of oneself through such a simple object as Mountain Dew. Her mom taught her that her safety and happiness were not valuable and that she existed to be used the way her mom used her and men used her.
