“Huh. I think some people would actually conclude that, given my old-rep. But seriously, I’m doing you a favor here—it’s gonna get fucking loud and messy and annoying.”
“Guess I’m just a lucky girl then, huh?” Mallory snorted. “Trust me, it’s not gonna bother me, I’ve probably heard worse.”
Hera rolled over on to her side to get a better look at the girl in her sights, arching a brow at the accusation. “So what if I am? Does my gold-winning attitude strike you as someone who hasn’t had to deal with screaming before?” She laughs bitterly, under her breath. “Forgive me, Las Vegas Barbie, if I can’t see you murdering anyone.”
Mallory snorted, stubbing out the last of her cigarette in the grass. “Clearly not enough to block it out in favor of not melting to death and complaining about it.” She observed with a shrug, looking unimpressed and unamused with the girl’s lackluster insults. “That’s San Francisco Barbie to you, baby bimbo. And I advise you not to assume anything about me, unless it’s that I can and will kick your ass into the next decade.”
“And listen to the symphony of blood curdling screams animating on top volume from God knows where? No, thank you, I’d rather listen to your shrill mating call, anyway. Besides, it’ll be a riot to watch when you get caught with that cancer stick.” Hera isn’t particularly pleased with herself, she knows she can be better, meaner, but she can’t help it; her cold, dead heart has since melted from the heat.
Mallory pauses to suck on the cigarette, humming before she exhaled the plume of smoke. “You must be new here. Or you’re just awful at drowning out the screams. Which, really, is your own damn problem.” She shrugged and only half smiled, the girl reminding her so much of her younger self. “I think I’m the least of their worries. After all, I haven’t killed anyone....yet.”
“You know, you probably shouldn’t be here. I get really loud when I’m working out.”
“How unfortunate. I guess everyone will just assume we’re having crazy sex in here or something.”
“Sh─ fuck this heat, honestly,” Hera sheds her shirt, leaving her in a wire-less bra and her jean shorts, as she laid back down in the grass, her shirt bunched up beneath her head, sunglasses perched on her nose. “You’d think it’d have cooled down by now, jesus fuckin’ christ.”
“You realize you could just go inside and then you wouldn’t have to complain.” Mallory had snuck outside for a smoke, hiding as best as she could in the garden. “Or maybe someone ought to just give your ass a cold shower.”
“We might have a more successful webseries though, and we could put those thirty second ads you can’t skip. We’d be rolling in pennies.”
“If you can figure out how all that techie shit works in here, be my guest.”
“Bud. Buuud. Budweiser. Don’t you love that?” Okay, stop being annoying. “Just sneak in into their office and snatch them. Nurses are pretty sloppy, and the guards get pretty fucking dumb sometimes. Faking a cold could be annoying because then they’d start touching and poking you and you gotta endure all that shit without exploding. Always been easier for me to just sneak in but - whatever cocas your colas, I guess.”
“Not particularly, no. We’re not exactly buds.” Mallory shrugged and sighed. She had no intention of getting thrown into solitary unless absolutely necessary, but she also was over spending her nights fighting nightmares. “I guess we’ll see how I feel once this shit kicks in and there’s not a fucking donkey kicking my skull in.”
“I think we’d be pretty great anchors, though we’d only be on air for around two minutes.”
“Oh, yeah. ‘Look at all this fucked up shit people are paying to be exposed to!’ Sounds like it should be on the six o’clock nightly.”
“Or, like, giant barrels of acid and nuclear waste like in Half-Life. Aliens crawlin’ all over the place. And the dead bodies and freaks as well.”
“Look at that, everybody wins. We could be on the news.”
“Well- it certainly could be worse!” She laughs.
“You’re right, they could be keeping dead bodies and those experimental freaks like in American Horror Story down there.”
“What d’ya think is in the basement, medical stuff I’d think.”
“Probably dead bodies.”
“See I’m laughing but only because that fucker tried to kill me and failed.”
“The Beatles? I’d bang them, especially Ringo.”
“I just felt my dick cringe.”
