The library had been quieter than normal all day, which meant Mallory was left to her own thoughts as she re-shelved books and checked the shelves for books placed on hold. She hadn't paid much attention as she walked around the corner and right into someone. She backed away quickly, placing enough distance that she couldn't touch them, even on accident. "I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention."
“alright guys, that’s a wrap,” willa called out, taking a long sip from her water bottle. after an finishing her last yoga group training in the day, she needed a drink. one of her clients had caused a few issues earlier, which had caused more stress than she needed. turning to face the only other person left in the room, willa arched an eyebrow. “do you need anything, or did you just want the company cause i’m about to head to the bar if you care to join?”
Yoga was always something she had enjoyed doing. When she saw that there was a yoga class, she had signed up hoping to return some sense of normalcy to her life. "Oh no, I'm just slow," Mal said, smiling at the other girl. "That would be fun, if you're sure you don't mind me joining you."
“Stupid fly,” Bryce mumbled to himself, allowing a small sigh to escape from his lips as he finally lifted his head from the book in front of him. He’d tried to ignore the fly as best as he could, but his heightened senses made it next to impossible. He heard every flap of its wings, every buzz, he could feel it land on his arm, he could feel it flying around- and it was starting to drive him nuts. “That’s it,” he stated, his eyes narrowing as he focused on the fly, “You’re mine now!” he cried out, as he thrust his hand into the air, grabbing ahold of the fly between his index finger and thumb. “This’ll teach you not to mess with me!” he spoke with a laugh as he brought the fly in front of his face. “Now run off and tell your friends,” he gave one final warning before opening his hand and allowing it to fly off. And then, almost as if it had never happened he turned his focus back to the book in front of him.
Mallory had been re-shelving books nearby when she heard him talking to a fly. She listened, an eyebrow raised before speaking. "While flies have been found to experience emotions, there's nothing suggesting they have friends, more likely not that's mostly anthropomorphism. Either way, that seems a little unnecessarily cruel. It's a fly doing what flies do."
“so, where’s the best place to get a beer or two around here?” he wasn’t normally much of a drinker, but seeing as he has a crippling fear of airplanes and that seemed to be the only way to get here, he needed something to ease the anxiety. and maybe, just maybe, maverick could get drunk enough to convince himself this wasn’t a terrible idea.
