Zander has not always known he had the mutant gene. Growing up, Zander was a very shy and nerdy kid. He was constantly bullied and picked on the entire time he grew up. One day on his way home from high school, a group of teenage boys jumped him. The leader thought his girlfriend was cheating with Zander instead of just getting tutoring help from his. Zander managed to fend them off leaving him with a few broken ribs. As the leader walked across the street, he had his back turned as he was snickering at Zander. Zander saw a car coming down the street and before he knew it, the boy was trapped under the swift moving vehicle. The boy died instantly on impact and from the head splitting headache and the bloody nose Zander knew he had done it.

He does not have a physical tell.

Zander works at the library because it was the most quiet and safest area he found when he came to the island.

X Zander has always had a fascination with card tricks and simple magic. One of the best memories of his childhood is his parents taking him to see a magic show for his birthday before his family really started to fall apart. He used magic as a way to escape the horrors of his house.

X Zander found out about his powers in a horrible way and it was when he finally accepted the darkness he had inside of him. In a desperate attempt to fix it or hide the darkness, he made a promise to himself to use his powers for good only. He started amping up his magic tricks using his telekinesis and helping those around him.

X His sexuality is something Zander has never been afraid of and he lived proudly with it. Zander knew for sure he was bisexual his freshman year after a magical kiss at a school trip. He told his parents proudly and though he was bullied relentlessly for it and his father wasn’t the biggest fan, he never let is define him or bring him down.

Arden has not always known she possessed the mutant gene, she doesn’t even know what human genes she possesses. Arden was adopted into the Garcia family almost immediately after birth and has always been raised by mutant hating parents. When she was nine years old, a man broke into her home and stabbed her. Adrien, her older brother, rushed to her aid and used his mutant abilities to knock the man out. It was a secret she kept until he told their family. Only a few months ago, she discovered her ability to duplicate herself as she studied more about the x gene. After a frightening talk with her Sentinel Service brother, she used her duplication as a trick to escape from her family.

Other than the fact that there can be three of her, her eyes glow blue when using her duplication powers.

She doesn’t have a job yet as she has only just arrived a month ago. She is hoping to find her brother before settling down and creating a life for herself.

X Arden’s room and most of the clothes she wears are different shades of blue much to her parents’ dismay. Being the youngest and their only girl, her mother was very excited to drown her daughter in the world of pink. However, being surrounded by mostly boys, she took the color blue and found it heartwarming and comforting. Her bedspread was a light baby blue color and most of her tops were faded sky colors.

X Arden has always had a dire need to be perfect. She would stay up for hours making sure assignments were perfect and everything she owned in the house and a perfect place on a shelf. When she found out about her mutant abilities, she worked tirelessly until she was able to create not one but two duplicates of herself.

X The disappearance of Adrien was something Arden took quite hard. She never really got along with her oldest brother the way she did with Adrien. She was unable to bare the idea of coming home to a family that was missing a member so she found a haven at their neighbor’s house. She has been best friends with the neighbor girl, Angelique, for years. She found a comfort in Angie that she was lacking due to Adrien being gone.

X Skinny Love - the first girl arden ever fell for before she even really knew her sexuality. They were really good friends and it slowly developed into something more. When Arden found out they were a mutant, she told her parents and was forced to break up with them. Maybe they reunite on the island.

X Till Death Do Us Part - her very best friend, someone she leaned on when Adrien disappeared and she found out about her powers. There is no one besides her family she loves more than this person. They know her better than anyone and would always have her back as she has hers.

Her old phone. There’s no service on the Island but she can look at pictures and remember her life before.

What’s a day in the life of your muse like?

Working at diner from sunup until the afternoon then resting until singing at the bar/lounge at night. She also gets in some exercise and vocal practice, but she’s been tiring of the same thing every day.

Flight and strength intrigue her. She’s not scared of any abilities.

Flora always felt as though there was something different about her. She wasn’t sure what it was until she was about six years old. Flora grew up in a giant orphanage in Florida. They had people of all different cultures and people that spoke different languages. She wasn’t sure why, but Flora could always understand what they were saying. She hadn’t been taught any of the other languages and at the time she was still learning English. When she was seven years old she was able to communicate back with those people. When she noticed the bright purple eyes in the mirror when she spoke to someone, she then realized she was a mutant.

Her eyes glow a bright purple when she uses her power. But other than that she appears completely normal, though recently the glow has been also appearing slightly in her veins when she uses her powers.

She is a journalist for towns paper, but she also writes books on the side. She took that up because she really enjoys writing and it’s one of her favorite past times.

Flora was taken from the orphanage when she was nine years old. She was taken to the island after being caught using her powers, but once the people knew the full extent of her powers they shipped her back to America. She was used by people in high up places to translate codes for the government. She escaped and got to the island six months ago so she is still relatively new

Matias was born in Peru but is also half Scottish. He never really met his biological parents and was raised by an aunt. They moved to Scotland at the behest and on the dime of his grandparents when he was two, but later relocted to America as a young teen. His accent is slightly Scottish.

( tw: drug mentions, addictions, alcohol, alcoholism )He was discovered to be a mutant in his twenties and was shipped off to Trask Island to be part of a ‘study’. Obviously that is really not what it was. He now has severe trust issues and is dealing from the recent repercussions of finally kicking a longtime drug habit garnered from the drugs used on him during experimentation, and while Matias has conquered that demon, he is still dependent upon alcohol to make it through the day.

He owns a small boarding house near the docks for the newest arrivals to stay at, though he doesn’t charge. He also offers to show them around and hep them find jobs and long term living situations. When there is no-on new, it is just him and this one boarder who just never seems to leave ( open connection btw if anyone wants it :D ) 

Mostly he is human passing except while actually having a ‘vision’ then his eyes turn gold and his pupils disappear.

I heard the THIRTY-SIX YEAR OLD is on the island because of BEING AN OLD SCIENTIST THERE. they’re sure to be a useful in the future. i’ve heard rumors going around that they’re distant & unstable, as well as redeeming & hardworking. in due time, we’re bound to unravel the truth. will THEY survive the island? ╳ CHARACTER AESTHETIC: round glasses, brown sweaters under white lab coat, smell of cigarettes, redemption story, science books everywhere, tequila that smells like regret, underdog.

Quick bullet point backstory:

Lionel was born the middle child, and due to that, he always felt like he had to prove himself to his family. Sure, he loved his siblings, but they always got more attention than he ever did.

His whole family was anti-mutants, so by default, he was too. He actually never even put any effort in trying to see what it might be like to be a mutant in this world, until a few years ago.

Anyway, in order to get his parents attention, he worked really hard in class, to always get the best grades and get praised. Well, it worked for a short time, but it wasn’t that satisfying after all. But he did develop a great interest in science and the medical field.

After graduating, he went for that, studied medicine, genes, and other fields related. (I am not a science person, I apologize for that) And started doing research as an assistant during his studies.

Sooooo at one point, he met a girl, and that whole cliché love story. He really did love her, they were already married at 22. But a few months later, he discovered she had mutant abilities. Part of him was frightened, the other was hurt at the fact she kept it from him, but mostly that he did not see it before. And both of those combined, well, that lead him to the unthinkable. Out of rage and deception, he pushed her down the stairs of their apartment building.

That rage quickly fell down, and the first person he contacted was the scientist he was currently helping, one he knew was anti-mutant as well. That person had contacts, and they managed to create a cover-up story for her death, but also got him out of there, and shipped him to the island to complete his studies and help around the lab.

So that is how he ended up on the island, studying the mutant gene and how it worked. Obviously, he did not have a good relationship with the mutants.

But that changed, slowly, after the mutants took over. Well, of course he wasn’t in a good position, but it also helped him open his eyes in a way. With them in control, he did learn more about their cause, their situation, and who they actually were: not the monsters he was told as a kid.

He is still working on gaining their full trust, of course, but Lionel was able to take on a job as a lab assistant for the hospital. With his formation, he could do particularly good in analysing samples that came through.

He can be kind of an asshole at times, and since he doesn’t really have anyone on the mainland he’d want to talk to, he’d probably write to his employer, the one that got him on the island, and tell them he’s quitting.

What’s a day in the life of your muse like?

Wake up usually just in time to get to work, spend most of his time there, although he does try to mingle with the mutants and prove that he is on their side now, and always ends up in bars with a few shots of tequila.

If your muse had a moment to sit down and talk with someone that was anti mutant what would they say?

Try to explain he’s been in the same situation they are, being anti-mutants in the past, but that he’s seen the other side, and he understands the bad guys aren’t the mutants. Honestly, he’d just try to change their mind.

What mutant abilities outside of their own intrigue them the most? Are there any they’d fear if they came across them?

He is simultaneously intrigued and scared by all of them. The fact he does not possess any power does play a lot on that, but he cannot help but wonder what it would be like to have those powers. But having seen them up close for years now, he also knows the extent of those powers and how scary and dangerous they can get.

WANTED PLOTS / CONNECTIONS

Coworkers: he works for the hospital, and it could be interesting to see the different dynamics he has with other people working there considering he used to be anti-mutants? I dunno, just a thought.

Family: so he still believes they are anti-mutants, but I think it could be interesting to have one or two members of the family show up on the island? Preferably his siblings, but his parents could work as well. It would just be interesting to see where they stand now, and how they would react to him switching sides.

Relationship: ok, the idea for this character(more or less) came after I watched Rebecca by Alfred Hitchcock. So I’m just... picturing him going for someone, but he’s still distant, and it feels like he’s not reciprocating anything? Because all he can think about is what happened with his wife. And then the truth can come out and I dunno just a thought.

Dude is blue, kay ? Let’s just get that outta the way. He also has gorgeous violet eyes and despite generally quite timid, he can get outrageously flirty as well. His pleasant light Irish accent is heavily utilized during these times.

Boi loves books, like all books any books, books on history, science, literature. Books. He has a collection of them. History is his favourite subject but if its a book he’ll read it.

He’s a private tutor, mostly for history and will take on anyone regardless of age, who cares to learn.

Whenever he isn’t teaching or reading, you can generally find him gardening, even in the rain.

TD is sarcastic and can seem insincere and sometimes almost like a bully, but he really is all bluster. The man would do anything if he thought it would help a fellow mutant out, or even a normal human. 

He’s a motorcycle enthusiast and is working on fixing up a bike that was previously owned by one of the scientists, a 1965 Harley Electro Glide. Parts are a bit tricky to get a hold of but he is quite determined.

He also loves continually spouting out reasons why his homeland is so much better than America, and his South London accent and slang are as thick and present as ever.
