"You reap what you sow, Artyom: force answers force, war breeds war, and death only brings death. To break this vicious circle one must do more than just act without any thought or doubt.
I’ve read and annotated the books, replayed the games, watched and read all I could find about the development of the games and I can confidently say it's one of my top favourite videogame sagas not only for its playability or atmosphere, but for the stories and messages it holds. I'm thankful to 4AGames and their team for making these games with so much passion and hope they keep making such incredible games.
“I know this tunnel, and it knows me”
My first contact with the Metro universe was when only the first two games were out and at the time I enjoyed it as another game. It was only when I recognised and bought the first book in a small bookstore in Cirencester that I got hooked and became a fan of Artyom’s story and wanted to know more. From then on, it slowly became one of my favourite games.
The amount of sketches I did studying nosalis is unhinged but was so fun to do. I'll someday post some pre-process sketches and recap for these illustrations.
“If it’s hostile, you kill it”
I'm a big fan of the Metro saga (both books and games), and since Metro 2039 has been finally announced (hooray!!) I'll take this as a sign to finally post about a project I did last year for school as it was in honor of Metro 2033 15th anniversary.
I made three illustrations meant to be turned into 3D-like dioramas, so the perspective was forced on purpose and ended up looking a bit wonky and unnatural in some places if you really pay attention but it worked nicely in the end.
