I started replaying Yakuza Kiwami, and for the last three weeks I’ve been reading Kazumaji fics like it’s my damn job. Thought I’d share my rec list from my weeks of intense study. Probably gonna update this post with more fics as I read them.
The Wanting Weeks by Somntaime - This author wrote exactly one (1) 78k Kazumaji masterpiece (this right here), then never wrote anything again. It’s so damn good that they ought to file off the serial number and publish it as a novel.
Tomorrow Never Knows by lolu - 100k words of mystery novel interwoven with incredible sex scenes. I love when these stubborn men who only communicate with violence are forced to reckon with their feelings. Also, any story with a cameo from Goromi is a win for me.
It's All About the Bit by LerxstInSpace - A laugh-out-loud 60k story from Majima’s perspective. Unusually, this one takes place post Yakuza 0. I love the way it re-envisions Majima’s Lord of The Night persona, under his terms this time.
Sunny Side by esutonia - At first blink, I assumed this 74k canon divergence, in which Kiryu devotes himself to becoming a homemaker and raising Haruka, would feel too fluffy to be believable. Little did I know, it is a perfect fit for the wackier side of Yakuza’s canon-typical hijinks, and perfectly in character, too. Unfinished but updated as recently as this month.
Baby boy by @goshen-applecrumbledore - I’ve read this four times. Rough and disrespectful sex that’s barely distinct from a fight feels like it ought to be canon. It was hard to pick just one of this author's fics. I also love Predestination for its character study of Majima circa Y0.
So Text Me In The Morning by heavymetalqueen - After Kiryu leaves Karamurocho, he and Majima (and sometimes Goromi) do the long distance thing.
Black Market Baby by @kdazrael - Kiryu is immediately taken with the hostess Goromi and asks her on an after hours date. What follows is equal parts hilarious and sexy, and it has become my definitive headcanon for how Majima treats Goromi as an alter ego.
Egging Him On by esutonia - Based on the Reddit post about the dude who couldn’t stop picking fights with a Waffle House server. Majima is perfect for the role of Florida Man.
That Strange Energy by marzanna - Just two dudes jacking off together to charge their crystal. What a premise.
