He'd spent all morning looking around for something nice. He didn't have any money, so he couldn't buy her anything but he knew if he looked hard he could spot something his mother would like. When he found what he was looking for, he was near ecstatic, and slipped back into the brothel without anyone noticing. Coming up behind her, he tugged on her dress, and held up a tiny, fragile blue flower. "Happy Mother's Day, Mama."
Kuchel had spent most of the morning asleep, recovering her strength after her latest customer. Lately she had been feeling much weaker, but with no means to treat whatever was wrong with her the most she could do was soldier on as always.
Soon after placing a fresh dress on the mother felt a light tug that she knew could only be one person. She turned around to see the love of her life holding a flower before him. Her face tightened slightly from pain as she kneeled down to his height. A delicate hand reached out to grab the small flower Levi had picked for her.
“Thank you my dear,” she said as a hand caressed his dirty cheek and hair. “This is the best gift I have ever gotten. Thank you.”
