Hi! I don’t have an AO3 account so I couldn’t comment there (to my knowledge at least, I’m new to this lol) but I just wanted to say I LOVED Chasing Afterimages!!!!
I was gonna make a long detailed list of everything I liked.. but then I realized it would just be describing everything about it lmao. I read the whole thing in one sitting late at night and after I finished I was so excited about it I had a hard time sleeping after.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that this was the first fanfic I’ve ever read, and I’m very certain it’ll stay as my favorite!!! :-)
I'm so sorry this took such a huge ass time for me to reply to anon....!! For some reason I never got a notif for it...... Btw, as a general advice, most ao3 fics are set so guests can comment! Mine certainly are, so you can always comment even without an acc :> On a side note, if you ever want an acc for yourself, I have plenty of invites, so just message me for one~
ANYWAYS NOT THE POINT HERE FJFJDJ Thank you so so much for taking the time to find a way to contact me just for the sake of letting me know how much you enjoyed my fic. I can't believe I was your first fic experience and that you had such a positive impression of it, that's the most flattering thing you could've told me :''') Thank you so much for the kind words ❤️
Hi enstars followers…. My good friend… my. Dear friend @mamichigo posted the sickest rtiz fic for the enstars big bang like …. Almost 3 weeks ago and it's the best thing I've ever read if you like Sakura Ritsu and Sena Izumi READ THIS IMMEDIATELY cause even if u don't ship them I really like how she characterizes them and you should give the fic a chance immediately !!!!! and the scene this picture is of is my favorite so far but I won't explain what's going on cause thatd be a spoiler hahahsehehhe u gotta read it to find out
I forgot to say the name of the fic it's "chasing afterimages"
"What a lovely thing he was in the sunlight, his eyes closed and a smile on his face. Ritsu splayed his fingers, seeking to touch Izumi’s, so close to his—to touch his warmth, to be scorched by it. Ritsu never knew the sunlight could be so gentle."
I'm the illustrator for the very talented @mamichigo for her fic, Chasing afterimages! If you like Vampires, Izuritsu, and Angst with a happy ending, this fic is for you, go check it out~
Thanks to @enstarsbb for allowing this collaboration!
I was finally able to play and finish tears of the kingdom and my first thought is that I really want to write a longer fic for my god of time link/revalink fic lmao
izuritsu soulmate au but they're not each other's soulmates
what if marks change depending on what happens between soulmates and izumi's (his soulmate being leo) has a crack/scar right through it and izumi considers the ugliest part of himself, especially bc "it exposes he's a shitty soulmate and prob shouldn't be with anyone in a romantic sense"
izumi's soulmark is on the juncture of his shoulder and neck, right where ritsu would normally try to bite people, and Izumi flinches away from him every time, but it's not bc of the bite. ritsu quietly asking izumi to let him see. he won't touch it, he promises, he simply wants to see izumi where he's most vulnerable
and at first it stays like this, with ritsu content with having exclusive right to see all of izumi, including the soulmark izumi hates so much. ritsu won't touch it, he won't soil it, he won't interfere in their relationship at all. but the more ritsu looks at it, the more frustrated—no, the angrier he gets
he shouldn't be this possessive, izumi doesn't belong to him, they aren't each other's. but he wants to bite him there, leave a mark of his own, a scar, something that says that izumi is his just as much as he was leo's in the past
basically both izumi and ritsu not working it out with their respective soulmates due to codependency, therefore being afraid of getting close to each other in the same way. if you even care.

"It's a waste to come all the way from Sumeru to Fontaine only to brood in a corner," Cyno says in greeting to the unsociable man with a scowl weighing on his features. He tacks a bow as well, though there's little about his approach that can be considered polite.
Somehow, the man's mood sours further. His frown is so deep his eyebrows are almost touching. He crosses his arms as he appraises Cyno.
"What is or isn't a waste of my time is no one's business but my own," he replies. His voice is as cold as the blue glint in his eyes. "What do I owe the honor of your interruption, Sir...?"
"Just Cyno is fine. Given your manners, I didn't expect you to bother with introductions."
"How you can judge my manners when this is the first time we've talked is beyond me."
Cyno wouldn't tell this man, but he had watched him flatly ignore Nilou's invitation for a dance, and the lack of response had told Cyno everything he needed to know. Nilou, of course, had brushed the issue aside, but Cyno was rarely so forgiving.
"A name warrants the same in response, don't you think?" Cyno points out.
The man sighs deeply. "Alhaitham. Though I doubt the name is needed, I was just about to leave. If you'll excuse me, my friend--"
"--Is currently busy dancing with my friend."
Alhaitham searches the crowd within the ballroom, and certainly sees the same as Cyno: Nilou beaming widely as she dances with a tall, blond man.
"I don't think he'll come to your rescue any time soon." Cyno smiles, all teeth.
Alhaitham mutters something under his breath, lost to the laughter of the crowd.
"So?" He gestures invitingly (but not without condescension). "What do you want from me?"
"How about a dance," he suggests. This is the most fitting revenge Cyno can think to enact. "Unless, of course, you haven't been educated on the dance of this nation. I wouldn't want to embarrass you in front of all these people."
A scoff is the only warning Cyno gets before he's grabbed by the waist and pulled much closer than he ever imagined getting to this man. Alhaitham leads without a single question, leaving Cyno to fall into step with him before he trips on his own feet. Cyno glares up at his dancing partner.
"You're not half bad," Alhaitham says.
"Are you always such an insufferable jerk?"
"I could ask the same of you."
They spin around the room in perfect synchrony with the song and the other pairs. Cyno considers stepping on Alhaitham's toes a few times, but his self-righteous rage is melting away, and now he feels all too silly at once. He doesn't make eye contact with Alhaitham.
"I must ask," Alhaitham speaks up, "what did I do to warrant your ire? I'm used to being disliked, though not ever without opening my mouth first."
"I didn't peg you as someone who enjoys small talk."
"You don't know me at all, Cyno."
He can't deny that. All Cyno knew was that this man had treated other attendees poorly by simply ignoring their existence.
"Don't speak, then," Alhaitham decides. "I enjoy an enigma. I'm sure the mystery will far worthier of my time than any party my friend deigns necessary we attend."
"You could just refuse his invitations, couldn't you?"
Alhaitham shakes his head, his mouth quirking up. "There's no arguing with Kaveh sometimes."
Cyno stares at his expression for far too long, as if entranced.
What a waste; a smile suits Alhaitham much better, and he wastes his looks with his poor attitude.
All too soon, the song comes to an end. Cyno hadn't felt time pass at all, his body light even as he danced. He had been perfectly supported by Alhaitham's hands, he realizes.
"One song was all I promised," Cyno says as he stumbles out of Alhaitham's arms.
"You said no such thing," he rebuts.
"Then I said it now. Goodbye, Alhaitham." He dips into a bow. "May I never have to see your sour face again."
Alhaitham returns the gesture. "May I never suffer under the attack of your temper again. Give your friend my regards."
With that, he is gone. Whether to find a drink or the nearest exit, Cyno doesn't know, nor does he care.
Nilou strays to his side, Kaveh right behind her.
"Are you having fun?" She asks sincerely.
Cyno finds himself scanning the crowd despite himself, though there's no glimpse of gray hair amongst the crowd. He shakes his head.
"No, I'm not," he lies through his pounding heart.
Oi oi! Olha, pra ser sincera não tenho plano pra isso não (mais pq seria o dobro do trabalho pra algo q n sei se vai vingar). Se tenho outros BRs q gostariam de ler minhas fics em pt, posso pensar no caso!
It doesn't take long for Cyno to find Alhaitham across the tavern. He's a strange sight amongst the cluster of chattering people; a lone figure huddled in the corner, nursing an empty cup as if contemplating the universe. It's not often the Akademiya personnel get together like this, but not even Cyno is alone. He's flanked by two of his fellow Matra, each with an awkward grimace on their faces (Cyno wouldn't tell them, but that reaction is exactly why he even bothers telling jokes).
Although not unexpected, it's still odd to see Alhaitham all by himself. Not many people know him to begin with, and the ones who now recognize him as the Acting Grand Sage are too intimidated to approach.
If Cyno's being honest, it's a bit pathetic.
He murmurs a quick farewell and departs from his subordinates' side, beelining to the almost empty table. It's only when Cyno taps the table and Alhaitham feels the vibration of it that he notices Cyno's presence. Alhaitham is quick to press a button on his headphones, though not without wincing when the flood of sound assaults his ears.
"What do I owe the pleasure, General?" He drawls, just the hint only a slur on his tongue.
Cyno raises his eyebrows as he sits across from him.
"You didn't have to come if you really didn't want to," he comments. "I feel awkward just looking at you sitting by yourself."
Alhaitham blinks once, twice, then shrugs.
"I was invited," he explains simply. "You told me to come."
"I don't remember doing anything of the sort."
Alhaitham looks down at his cup, belatedly realizing it's been empty for awhile now and finally flags a waiter for another drink. Then, he stares up at Cyno and tilts his head.
(Cyno can see the gears turning in his head; they're surprisingly slow today.)
"Lesser Lord Kusanali told me," he starts, "that you said it would be good if I participated. So I am. Participating."
Oh, there was something like that, wasn't there? Cyno had idly said that if it was an Akademiya event, then the Acting Grand Sage should be there. Though, to imagine that Alhaitham would come just for that...
"Are you alright....?" He asks.
"Better now that you're here."
They watch each other for awhile. Cyno hears someone laughing loudly—a glance tells him it's Kaveh conversing with Faruzan. So that's where the architect went, though it doesn't fully explain what the hell Alhaitham is doing all alone.
Another moment. Alhaitham's words land five seconds too late, and Cyno opens and closes his mouth like a fish.
"...Excuse me?"
"You wanted me to come, so I'm here," Alhaitham explains again, this time slower, like he's talking to a kid.
It only then occurs to Cyno that Alhaitham is more drunk than he looks.
"Right," he murmurs, suddenly at a loss. "Why didn't you approach me, then?"
"You looked busy. You were talking." Alhaitham hums to himself. The waiter briefly interrupts their talk; he sips on his new drink, a strange look in his eyes. "...You were smiling."
"So?"
"I like watching you smile."
Cyno's heart does a disconcerting maneuver in his chest.
"If you had approached me, I would've made time for you," Cyno admits. He doesn't have the excuse of alcohol to be this open, but the intent way with which Alhaitham watches him leaves Cyno unable to be anything other than painfully sincere.
"Would you?"
"Of course."
Then... Then Alhaitham smiles. Not a smirk, nor a sneer. There's no arrogance or smugness in it, no scheming, no unfathomable plan. It's the sort of pure glee Cyno never expected to see on that stony face.
If his heart was going wild before, it's now doing full on acrobatics. Cyno looks around, but no one is paying attention to them. He offers up a hand to Alhaitham, who readily encloses it within both his palms. After a moment of thought, he kisses Cyno's knuckles.
"I missed you," he whispers. "You were in Mondstadt, then you were busy, and then…"
He shakes his head. Cyno inhales through the hitch in his breath.
"Alhaitham," he calls, quiet and reverent. "Come here?"
And Alhaitham does; readily, trustingly. It's exhilarating, it's terrifying. When he reaches for Alhaitham's cheek, his fingers tremble. He kisses the corner of his mouth as a confession. "I missed you too."
Cyno glances at the half filled cup still on the table. This isn't the timing, not yet.
But it could be.
"Take a walk with me," Cyno orders, because he'll lose his nerve otherwise. "The night air will do you some good."
Alhaitham doesn't give it any thought. Like it's second nature, he says, "I'd go anywhere with you."
It should scare him. He wasn't meant to be loved this fiercely. Not like this. But something settles within him, his heart stills, and he knows.
He knows this is it.
As soon as they step out, it'll be just the two of them together, nothing else will matter.
Cyno squeezes Alhaitham's hand a little tighter and leads them outside.
