he didn't oppose any kind of resistance, welcoming her into his lap with an approving smile colouring his features. dark brown eyes softened under long lashes as he simply looked at her, hands daring to venture around her sides. he sure never put what they had into words. he hardly thought about it at all, because trying and labelling it made him all too aware of all the rules and codes of conduct they were breaking and how highly inappropriate it could be that someone in his position took advantage of someone below him - even though he was the one surrendering power. or, for the worse, he'd get stuck in thinking how free he felt around her. she had that peculiar ability to strip him of the cold detachment that he carried everywhere and slip right under his boundaries.

was there any need for any labelling at all when he melted so easily for her?

"I call it an inappropriate relationship." he pushed himself off the back of the sofa, chasing that moment of timidity he had the privilege of catching. "a relationship nonetheless," he offered, sliding a knuckle under her chin to invite her to kiss him. he wouldn't have moved first, never. this was her house, and this was her calling the shots. she was the one who led.

For half a second, Rhea’s breath caught hard enough to hurt. The words landed heavier than they probably should have, stomach dropping before she could stop it. Her expression shifted despite herself, that flicker of uncertainty she hated anyone seeing, the brief moment where she wondered if maybe she’d pushed too far, assumed too much. Because this was Aaron. Careful, measured, impossibly guarded Aaron. The man who weighed consequences like they lived under his skin. But then — a relationship nonetheless.

The tension left her in a quiet exhale, shoulders softening so visibly it almost embarrassed her. Relief warmed its way through her chest before she could stop it, settling somewhere embarrassingly vulnerable. “Jesus, Aaron,” she murmured under her breath, voice quieter now, almost shy in a way that didn’t belong to Rhea Ripley at all. Her breath brushed softly against his lips before she leaned in, kissing him gentle at first. Tentative. Like she was letting herself believe it. One hand moved to cradle his face, thumb brushing warm against the edge of his jaw while the other slipped into his hair, fingers threading carefully through dark strands. And then the kiss deepened without her meaning for it to; slower, warmer, lingering in the kind of way that only happened when the rest of the world disappeared for a minute. No cases. No paperwork. No rules breathing down their necks. Just this.

When she finally pulled back, forehead lingering close to his for a beat, her thumb swept once more across his jaw. “I think this is absolutely a relationship,” she admitted softly, mouth twitching into something smaller, fond. “Maybe not one we go announcing to the team anytime soon,” there was the faintest huff of nervous laughter there, “but… I’m okay with that. For now.” Eventually, reluctantly, she leaned back just enough to grab her phone off the side of the couch, though she stayed half curled into his lap like moving any farther would somehow ruin the moment. “Alright,” she muttered, opening the delivery app. “Now tell me what kind of tacos, or whatever we’re ordering before profiler brain overthinks dinner too.”

Rhea’s brows lifted slow, deliberate, dark rimmed eyes dragging from the phone back up to him with something caught halfway between disbelief and amusement. For a second, she just stared. Mouth parted like she had about fifteen different responses fighting to come out at once, and every single one of them would probably get her in trouble. “Science?” she echoed, voice rough around the edges, skeptical in a way that didn’t quite hide the heat sitting underneath it. “Right. That what we’re calling it now?” A laugh slipped out of her low, quiet; though it caught when he leaned in close enough for his voice to settle against her skin. Damn him for that.

Rhea turned her head just enough, close enough that the tension between them felt dangerous. Her shoulder bumped his on purpose, gaze flickering over him like she was weighing whether or not to entertain this version of him. “You really think I’d scare that easy?” she asked, one brow arching. “Pretty bold assumption, punk.” It rolled off her tongue with just enough bite to feel personal. She tilted her head, studying the smug look on his face for a beat too long before the corner of her mouth curled. “Question is,” she added, quieter now, “you sure you could keep up? Or are you just running your mouth because you wanna see me blush?” Fingers ghost his own before she's leaning away from him, eyes roaming over his form slow. "I can take it and a whole lot more."

the dressing room is quiet in a way only roman reigns can make it feel like it belongs to him. the noise of the arena is distant now, muffled through concrete and locked doors, like the world outside has already been reduced to background noise he doesn’t need to pay attention to anymore. he’s still in his gear, still carrying the aftermath of clash in italy on him, but there’s no exhaustion in the way he sits. the undisputed wwe universal championship rests across his shoulder with a natural ease, like it never left him in the first place. his posture is relaxed, almost dismissive of everything that just happened out there — because to him, it didn’t feel like a battle. it felt like confirmation. another city. another crowd. another attempt to rewrite a story that refuses to change.

and still — he ended it the same way he always does. roman exhales slowly through his nose, leaning forward slightly, forearms resting on his thighs as his eyes drop briefly to the title. there’s a faint smirk there, not loud, not forced — just knowing. like he’s replaying the final moments in his head and finding nothing about them surprising. of course it ended that way.

the door opens. roman doesn’t look up immediately. not because he doesn’t notice — but because he already knows what walking in feels like. he felt the shift before the handle even turned. that subtle change in the air that doesn’t belong to production, or crew, or anything ordinary. he knows her energy before he sees her. the door closes behind her, and the room tightens without either of them saying a word. roman finally lifts his head, and when he does, his eyes don’t just land on her — they stay there. locked. focused. unmoved. like everything he just did out there has already been filed away because something more interesting just entered the room. he doesn’t glance away. not once. not at the title. not at the walls. not at anything else that used to matter in moments like this. just @mamisms.

Rhea doesn’t answer him right away. The door clicks shut behind her, shoulders still carrying the leftover electricity of the crowd outside, though it’s quieter here. Colder. Or maybe warmer, harder to tell when Roman looks at her like that. Like he’d clocked her the second she stepped into the hallway, long before she ever touched the handle. Her eyes drift once, briefly, to the championship slung over his shoulder before settling back on him, lingering there with the same sort of scrutiny he was giving her. Evaluating. Familiar. Dangerous.

A scoff escapes under her breath, though it lacks any real bite. “God, y’know, anyone else says that and I’d tell them to get over themselves.” Her arms fold loosely over her chest, head tilting just enough as she leans one shoulder against the wall instead of coming closer, even if the space between them already feels thinner than it should. “But annoyingly?” A pause. The corner of her mouth twitches upward. “You backed it up.” His mami lands somewhere inconvenient.

Rhea shifts her weight, jaw flexing once before she exhales through her nose. “I felt something,” she admits finally, quieter now, honesty slipping through despite herself. “Whole arena shifted when you walked out there. People act like they hate you until the second you remind them exactly who the hell you are.” Her gaze flickers down to the title again, then back up slower this time. “And maybe…” she hesitates, rare, uncomfortable; “maybe I wanted to see if Tribal Combat was all it was cracked up to be.”

She pushes off the wall then, only a step, but enough to make the room feel smaller. Curiosity gets the better of her, like it always seems to around him. “So what now, Roro?” her voice drops slightly, something sharper underneath it. “You never do anything small.” A beat. Her eyes hold his, unwavering. “What’s the plan?”
