Deltarune Ramblings/theorizing/reaching
Okay, I've been thinkin' about something that my husband brought to my attention and we've both been thinking about it non stop so I have to write it down.
So I noticed that there was a lot of weird stuff going on with the chocolate that Undyne asks Kris to take to Alphys. If Kris or them and Susie both eat it, it makes them feel like garbage, right?
It's also brought up again by Alphys in chapter 4 at church (if you were a good noodle and actually delivered them) where she said they made her feel sick and knocked her on her ass.
I don't think Undyne would intentionally get Alphys something that'd make her sick, and she didn't make them herself. She got them from Sans's store.
If you take them to him, Sans actually lets you return them for money without a fuss despite Kris not buying them. Like he knew you shouldn't have em.
Now, the only people being kidnapped by the knight seem to be Undertale characters. Undyne was taken on screen, an attempted kidnapping of Toriel, and a missing Papyrus (but in fairness, he could be missing for any number of reasons). After Sans set up a friend date for the two of you too. Which I always thought was weird, unless he really did intend for you two to hang out but then changed his mind for one reason or another.
Not to mention by boi Onion San! D: He's gone after chapter two after giving weird ass dialogue about hearing music from below the waves. (Small Undertale character, but still!)
I thought it was a weird accusation to make, but if Sans did give the chocolate to Undyne knowing they were bad, maybe he was expecting her to eat them and be knocked out, stopping her from going to the Dreemur residence that night?
In chapter 4 the reason Kris and Susie go back to the church is because they're worried about Toriel being there for choir practice. Only to come home and find out she's safe and sound...with Sans.
I don't know how weird it is for Toriel to not give a damn about choir practice, but it just feels...off. Like he knew there might be danger and was going out of his way to get her away from it. It would certainly fit in with his character, going out of his way to seek info and make moves completely inconspicuously.
I very much realize that I could be reaching here, but it really threw me off when Alphys brings them up again at church. It feels like a small detail that didn't really need to be brought up if it wasn't necessary or didn't mean anything, right?
Am I implying that Sans is a master manipulator and knows what's going on with the plot and trying to keep 'us' or the Knight away from other characters? Uh...When I type it all out, yeah, I kinda am and it sounds stupid but like....COMEON THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING HERE RIGHT
I don't even know what point I'm trying to make, that dialogue from Alphys really threw me off, man. It could also be that Sans is lazy and doesn't change out his stock, sold bad chocolate, knows he did and doesn't make a fuss about a return and just realllllly likes Toriel. And Alphys is just paranoid and her comment meant nothing at all.
