The issue of cheap labour in India is worsening post Covid and with the increase in population. One of the main issues is the lack of regulation in the industry, which allows companies to pay workers a pittance for their labour. This is not only unfair to the workers, but it also perpetuates the cycle of poverty in the country. Men and women are forced to work well into their old age, with many working 16 hours a day, seven days a week. This is a travesty that must be addressed immediately.

According to a report by National Geographic, the situation is even worse for women, who are often subjected to sexual violence and physical abuse in addition to debt bondage to compel labour. In an environment already marked by exploitation, agricultural workers are often exempt from a country’s labor laws, left without traditional workplace protections 3.

It is unconscionable that so many people are forced to live in such conditions. We must work together to create a world where everyone has access to the basic necessities of life, such as food, water, and shelter. We must also work to ensure that workers are treated fairly and with dignity, and that they are not subjected to the kind of exploitation that is all too common in many parts of the world. We can start by raising awareness about these issues and by supporting organizations that are working to make a difference. We can also put pressure on governments and corporations to do more to address these problems. Together, we can make a real difference and create a better world for everyone.
