my obsession with D.Gray-man has resurfaced | now with more Nea obsession than the 2013 edition | pls talk to me about DGM or the Pillar im dying over here but have no friends who have watched DGM

Hello beautiful folks of tumblr! I’m posting once again to ask all of my D.Gray-Man Fam to take a breath! Yes the English chapter has not been released for 239 but you know what that’s OK. I’m posting here because I see a lot of nastiness people complaining that the chapter hasn’t been released in English. I also see a lot of nasty things about Hoshino again. Please stop. To address the translators these wonderful people are burnt out. They do not owe us anything please take a step back and check yourselves everyone. I know a lot of the fandom is good and respects them.  Best thing you can do is buy the chapter in Japanese if you have the means if not support her buy buying the volumes and merchandise if you have the means. As far as the nastiness towards Hoshino... that is an absolute no leave her alone quit being rude quit being entitled. She literally is working through carpal tunnel syndrome stress handling all the marketing and her other business give her a break. PLEASE BE GREATFUL SHE IS EVENING RELASING CHAPTERS!  no one owes anybody anything we are so fortunate that people or even willing to take time to translate the chapter whether it be in English or other languages. End of Rant..

Every time I see the Noah, I think of corpses. When I see grey skin, I think of skin discoloration after death. When I see their stigmata, proud and prominent across their forehead, I think of a pathologist cutting open the skull to remove the brain, and reattaching the top back with neat baseball stitches. When I see their golden eyes, I think of artificial eyes, inserted into empty sockets, still full of “life” after death.

It would explain somethings, if the Noah were corpses, wouldn’t it? The agonizing awakening of a Noah is the “death” metaphorically, or perhaps literally, of their host. The old Noah’s memories take in the host’s memories, blending them into their own, before filling up the host’s body once more, like it is a puppet. The Dark Matter the Noah use seem to give the Noah longevity, as if what Road said is true, and they are human, then they should live a normal human lifespan, but they don’t. Road is at least 35 years old, but still looks like a girl after all. Perhaps it’s longevity, or perhaps, it’s preservation of the corpse.

I’m saying that maybe the Noah ARE human, just not living ones, and the Dark Matter ISN’T making them semi-immortal, it’s preserving their bodies so they don’t rot.

Even if there are differences between the Earl and the Noah, I don’t think some type of undeath existing for them would be far-fetched, to be honest. I mean, there’s the Akuma. There are the skulls, and whatever Maria is.

I like to think that prior to the last cycle, the Noah (memory) and the Noah (host) were more intimately blended, as opposed to how they are now. The hosts still played a part, sure, since not being devoured by their memory seems to be a relatively big deal for them, but the fact that the current Noah can’t remember what happened on “their” past lives might be why they seem more like individuals as opposed to the angry 7000-year-old shadows that sometimes pop up from within them.

Akuma are undead things fueled by dark matter, no? We don’t know what the actual “purpose” of the Akuma is, but it sets a precedent. The Noah memories are presented as angry ghosts from 7000 years ago, so them taking over the bodies of their descendants, even killing them if that’s part of what their awakening does, makes perfect sense if the original Noah are basically long-dead people who refuse to let go of a grudge no matter the cost.

Headcannon/ theory:

According to Wikipedia, the Noah Mercym (or Maushyma) (the Noah with the sunglasses and spikey hair) likes “drinking and comparing herbal teas” as well as “taking care of kids”.

We also see him and Sheril come for Apocrypos in a special panel after the twins capture him. We also see him with Tyki and Sheril toward the beginning of the Alma ark.

We know that being a member of the upper class, Sheril drinks tea and probably would have special imported teas. He also has Road and Wisely of whom are his adopted children, but he sometimes has struggles with (with Road runnung away when she should be at school or not being told where she is and a little bit of a struggle to connect with Wisely).

We know The Earl and Tyki are usually the go-to- cool- supportive uncles that usually help the kids and interact with Sheril. We also know that Lulu Bell went to Sheril when she was upset about not being able to save the akuma egg in the Destruction of the Order ark (but that probably doesn’t matter in the terms of what I am saying).

Could there be or potentially be a friendship between Mercym and Sheril we have yet to see?

ok so reading this translation of the chapter that I found in Spanish, assuming the translation is accurate, I’m interpreting what happened as (see below the line), as well as my thoughts on the chapter (because i can’t go any longer without discussing this, aaaaaa!)

Cosimov was being creepy over Allen-the-dog's grave, while Timcampy was spying, and Apocryphos shows up with his creepy fingers, flashback-edition, and stabs Tim

Tim starts rebuilding, so Apocryphos notices it's hard to destroy and wonders if Cross could somehow detect the damage happened (could be the translation, but Apocryphos keeps using "puppet" in a derogary sense)

Cosimov seems shocked at being out-creeped by someone, but he proceeds to get the feather treatment courtesy of Apocryphos's...extend-o-hand??

Have I mentioned Apocryphos is creepy? Even just the eyes

Apocryphos apparently used his feather power to make the people think that "red-arm" killed Campbell's dog, saying the boy is dangerous

So interpretations:

- Oh no, the circus is about to become a warzone, isn’t it? - Apocryphos knows who Cross is, and apparently knows enough to be aware of Tim to intentionally attack from behind, and dislikes him as a “puppet”, and for some reason at least considers the possibility that Cross might be able to notice the damage of his attack to Tim happened (which tbh wouldn’t surprise me since Tim seemed sentient to an extent, at least in comparison to regular golems, so Tim could probably just show Cross what happened) -And oh boy, Apocryphos really just exists to stir **** up, doesn’t he? :/

I already hated Innocence ever since catching up on the manga, but man, this flashback is making me think it may actually be like, objectively evil for real

back in chapter 203 (i think) when there’s the Cross flashback, and Cross says “When we first met / he wasn’t called “Allen” / Should’ve realized that mistake sooner!!”

Is the “he” there stated to be the present!Allen? Because I’ve been wondering, since Cross knew to look for “Allen” in some shape or form, despite Nea knowing a person who was apparently “Allen”, and yet Cross didn’t seem to be looking for that specific Allen from the past.

I don’t even know where I’m going with this tbh, I just started thinking too much about this

DGM Headcanons: Katerina

When the twins appeared, Katerina’s family wanted her to ditch them at the nearest orphanage, but Katerina was like “Nope. My kids now.”

After adopting the twins, Katerina never married. Having children, seemingly out of wedlock, made her undesirable to any possible suitors. The small town nearby also ostracized her and the boys, causing the boys to grow up with only each other as playmates. The town’s treatment of their family laid the groundwork for Neah’s hatred of people. Even still, Katerina raised them the best she could, and for a while, the small family was happy.

Then the boys Awakened as Noah. The Holy War and the Noah Clan caused her boys to grow distant, but they made sure that she was protected. Cross was the one to inform Katerina of the boys’ fate. Katerina thought her heart would shatter when she found out Neah had died, and Mana was missing. They were too young, only 17. 

But even now, as she looks back at all the suffering and heartbreak her boys and her went through, Katerina has never once regreted adopting the boys.
