Ne me quitte pas - Don't leave me
Film by Sabine Lubbe Bakker and Niels van Koevorden.
IDFA
Main characters are two Belgian friends, Marcel and Bob, one from Flanders an the otherone from French-Belgium. They have a lot of failure and loss in their life and they let the grieve be. They don't try to comfort. They accept eachother, it's okay, this is life.
We follow them very close, at the kitchentable and on the way. We see very close, in direct cinema style, that's non-fiction, their sadness, drunkness, humor and hilaric moments, in the woody, grey landscape.
They live light on the heavy edge.
It won the Golden Calf 2014, prize for the best Dutch movie.
Review at Indiewire
I wish I was here.
Leiden International Film Festival, october 2014.
Zach Braff " I wish I was here " is an American Indie. No Hollywood.
To me a hopeful familielife movie. Wishfull realism: life is full of situations to overcome. Life is an occasion. Rise to it.
Naturally we love Zach. We used to watch " Scrubs" , me and my daughters. Fantastic great show.
In the basement of the Gemeentemuseum The Hague is made The Mini Museum. All small watch-boxes are filled with a tasteful mix of small items.
Visitor at the Mark Rothko exposition in Gemeentemuseum The Hague. The advice given by the museum was to absorb the painting.
Shakespeare on my e-reader
I bought the complete digital works of Shakespeare. There is no more copyright on his work I suppose. Now I have thousands of his good, bright words and text inventions on my ereader for 5 euro’s. I’ll be safe the rest of my life! Just need a dictionary now and then.
two months later: e-reader broke down, haha, stil need to go to the library.
And this is the version of Janine Jansen. She takes you to the flight of the bird. It does make you feel like you’re flying. And you feel from her such a tenderness for the little bird. It’s amazing indeed. I love the balance violin-orchestra. The orchestra is wonderfull as well. What happens here is such a happy, fresh flight full of life.
And this is the same event with what music does.
June 1978. I'm seventeen. I 'm done with highschool. Next season I will leave to study in another region.
I'm working on the land with my parents. My father is tired, he has a disease. He rests while my mother and I go on. He will live for some more years, but it will end. We know but it is impossible to share these things in words. The larks ascend. I ly down and watch the very young and soft rabbits.
The lark ascending by Tamsin Waley-Cohen was broadcast by Dutch Radio 4. It was on Ascencion. It sent me back to a certain month of June when I was seventeen and just had my exams. The younger childeren were still going to school.
I was working on the land with my parents. We were pulling weeds. Above our heads endlessly, invisibly, sang the larks. Between the weeds and the crop small young rabbits were hiding. It was a miraculous timeless and safe season.
The lark.
Klassiek Geeft. Classical music fans donate instruments
Dutch wonderfull classical music channel Radio 4 organised a charity event. People who had music instruments at home they didn't play on any more were invited to donate them. People came to bring instruments they kept on top of the cabinet or attic for years.
The instruments are stored in a repository in order to give them to childeren that want to take music lessons. The instruments will be restored if neccesary. Of course the childeren are expected to take good care of the instrument. All instruments are welcome , except piano's, even though the event is finished by now.
After two weeks 1723 instruments had come in. And also an amount of 44.000 euros.
They interviewed childeren who received an instument last year and enjoyed it very much.
Jaap van Zweden, conductor, donated a violin.
Love and pain
We had a good concert, the community hall was packed, enthusiastic responses. The Leiden Daily wrote a positive review.

Shakespeare in love
Shakespeare in love was played by the Residence Orchestra 2014 april 6th , a wonderful programme with an actor who played Shakespeare as he was writing in his room, and with a part of an old ( silent, russian) Hamlet movie projected on a screen in the concerthall. The conductor made sure that the timing actor- movie-music was perfect and seemed to deepen the orchestral sound. I sat there and was amazed.

Tsjechov - De Meeuw
Konstantin is ontgoocheld.
