Feedback from trans people regarding voice therapy
As a speech-language pathology/ speech therapy student who is a member of the queer community, I wanted to know if trans/nonbinary people on here have (a) heard of transgender voice therapy, (b) tried it, and (c) what your perceptions of it are whether or not you've tried it (do you feel comfortable during sessions, did it help etc.).
If you could share this post and/or reply/message me with this information that would be helpful! This is an area I'm interested in so I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks friends!
so you know how it's "shark week on tv"? well. buddy. some cruel god decided to make my shark week coincide with the official shark week. what the hec
That is a horrible but remarkable coincidence
I love bears they’re so fucking big and dumb
I am talking about the animal!!!!!!!
Hello, world! I’m fat. I look good. That’s all, thank you.
Greetings, friends. If you are fat, you also look good. Okay, good bye.
Thin people, you are welcome to reblog this to let your fat friends know they are phenomenal
“lgbt people are an incredibly small minority” yes because homophobes and aids killed the majority of them and those who survive won’t necessarily put themselves in danger just to answer your dumbass survey or might not even admit to being LGBT because of internalised homophobia. next
do you ever feel an indescribable amount of grief thinking of how many more lgbt people could be living in a more accepting world and being happy and telling stories seeing how far the world has come (and how far it still has the potential to go) but no because some assholes decided lgbt people aren’t worthy of life and if they weren’t actively killing them they denied to fund aids medicine, research and education because I sure fucking do
She wants every transgender woman to be able to experience the feeling of cotton on her skin.
is nobody going to talk abt this???? this is amazing and the lingerie is decently priced. share this for your fellow trans girl!
!!!!!!!! THIS !!!!!!!!
This is awesome but like where the fuck can I buy it?
right here!!!
Your blog is lovely!! Number 95 for the ask meme 😊
Thank you so much!!! And have I ever laughed so hard I cried?? Oh boy, too many times. But one time specifically, I was trying to open a pack of strawberry wafers, and there was just a shit ton of crumbs in it and they spilled all over my shorts, and for some reason, I couldn’t handle that. I was wheezing, crying, choking on my own breath. All while my girlfriend was very concerned for my sanity, rightly so lmao. The same thing happened in Walmart one time but that was because I couldn’t unfold a flannel and I thought I was broken, but it turns out it was pinned that way with little plastic clips. So yes I cry laughing a lot and usually the situation isn’t that funny and doesn’t make sense.
Need advice? Or just wanna talk?
Here’s a gentle reminder that if anybody needs to talk about something that they need advice on (trans related or not!!), or if somebody just wants someone to talk to, I’m here!! You can message me on here at any time, or if you need quicker responses I can give you my Facebook and you can message me through there whenever as well :) I love when y’all ask questions or send in asks so I’d love to have personal one-on-one convos as well!!
is liam a common name for trans guys?
I’ve only ever actually met one! And I obviously don’t know all trans guys haha but I’ve only ever seen a handful or so online too. But if that name really fits you and you love it totally go for it!!! I don’t think it’s super common :)

Give us one thing about you that no one knows.
A few years ago a roommate abruptly decided to move out to live with her boyfriend, and I ended up spending half a year sharing an apartment with someone I had never met before: an Egyptian girl with very limited English.
She was confused by my appearance and asked me “boy or girl?” It took me a while to understand what she was saying, but eventually she got the point across, and I told her that I was a girl. She seemed unsatisfied, and I explained that I was transgender. Unsurprisingly, she didn’t know the word.
We ended communicating by typing our respective sentences into Google Translate. Unfortunately, whatever the Arabic word for “transgender” is, it wasn’t a word she knew either. Eventually I ended up typing in “I used to be a boy but it made me unhappy so I decided to be a girl.” She stared at it for a moment then asked “You are happy now?” I said yes, and she smiled and looked thoughtful.
A couple hours later she came up to me and said “You and me, we are sisters,” and gave me a hug. “You say you are girl, you are girl.”
Can I share this in non-tumblr spaces?
Each story like this warms my heart a little more
Yes, it’s one of those posts, I wouldn’t be posting this but it’s urgent and if anyone could help I would be eternally grateful. My partner is trans and has been on the nhs waiting list for ages, it doesn’t look as though there will be any progress soon.
Over the summer we had a mental health crisis, it got so bad we essentially became frequent residents in hospital. He needs a consultation, potentially more than one for a gender clinic. This will mean that he can be prescribed hormones. It’s basically the only thing giving him a sense of hope and purpose. I’m currently working two jobs and I need the help so we can earn enough money to make this happen sooner. I don’t want to lose him or to see his hope diminish because the system is unfair. The rates for mental health related issues are so high within the LGBT community and being another statistic is not part of my plan.
If you can please donate to his campaign
Please share, reblog, send your friends, families etc the link. I wouldn’t be asking if we weren’t desperate.
You know what’s amazing? That we’re actually seeing more and more lgbtq characters and relationships normalised in cartoons and children’s shows.
When I was younger, gay children’s characters just weren’t a thing, and if there was, it was for comedic reasons. Shows like these, that normalise being queer, are so so so important.
Sorry if this is rude or ignorant, but my friend is insisting that social dysphoria/ "feeling like a boy" is somehow sexist. They're saying that I can only feel "like a boy" because I have sexist ideas of what a girl "should" feel like or act like. I'm not sure how to respond, plz halp :(
That’s a load of bullshit. I “feel like a boy” because I am a boy. Maybe “boy” doesn’t best suit your gender identity, but there are lots of feelings in this community associated with feeling male aligned, and they aren’t sexist. Now, if you were saying you feel like a boy because: you have visible body hair, certain things you have interest in that are not socialized with being female, like sports, have a muscular build, or act in a non-feminine way, that could come off and very well be sexist. You don’t have to act a certain way to be female or to be a woman, but you should “feel like a woman.” Take some time to distinguish between the feelings your having (because coming out is a big change and a big decision!) and remember that only you get to decide how you feel.
Best of luck!
Hi! Don't wanna bother but I have a question. I'm assigned female at birth and feel completely comfortable with it. I don't identify as trans. I am, by any means, a female. But... I don't feel comfortable with my breast... I don't like it, I just wish it'd disappear. I plan on buying a binder or finding an alternative way of binding. Then a question came to mind: am I being disrespectful to the trans community by wanting to bind even though I'm not trans? I feel like I'm invalidating people...
In my opinion, no. Cis men with Gynecomastia often use binders, people who cosplay use binders, non-binary people use binders, and on and on and on. Others may have varying opinions but honestly, it is an article of clothing and if it helps you feel better about your body, wear it! Just please be careful. I recommend gc2b, it’s what I use and it very comfortable. Also, closely adhere to their sizing chart! You don’t want one too big, because it won’t flatten enough, and you don’t want one too small because it WILL damage your ribs! If you get one that fits correctly, it will do what it’s supposed to do, safely! In the beginning also, don’t wear it for the full 8 hours. Try wearing it for like 4 hours at a time (with at least an hour or two break before putting it on again) around your house or just while you’re chilling. And no strenuous exercise in it!Be safe and happy binding!
