they usually come in the form of empty shops/restaurant with crazy low prices and decent products. for example, last year I discovered this little restaurant in the center of my city and I went in with a friend to eat. my friend got this huge pot of tea with honey and sugar and whatnot, I got espresso with HOMEMADE???? cream next to it, and the waitress was our age and so so nice. the food was insanely good (I got fried calamari rings with fries and sauce, my friend got a giant pizza) and we were stuffed... FOR 15 DOLLARS. GODDDDDDDDDUHHHHH i will be purchasing again. I <3 money laundering schemes i will forever be their most loyal customer

Freedom! Finally! That's what you told yourself after leaving your parents behind in your hometown and moving to a bigger city, all for the sake of going to your dream college and pursuing higher education. You had studied for countless months, bent over the table to take in as much information as you possibly could, and after abysmal entrance exams, finally... You were admitted! Obviously, there was the hassle of finding accommodation, moving your stuff, teary-eyed goodbyes to your friends and pets, but you were supposed to gain independence at some point, right?
So, you packed up your life and moved halfway across the country. Everything seemed to suck at first, as new beginnings usually do. It was hard making friends, and it seemed like there were some sketchy rules that everyone was aware of, aside from you, of course. Some of your professors were nice, some of your professors were average... and some of your professors were absolute cunts. You hated them with all of your heart, and the fact that one of them actually taught a class relevant to your major was even worse.
You felt defeated when you failed your first ever class in college - SPSS Statistics. I mean, you were going to be a psychologist, for fuck's sake, why would you need to learn math? Moving on, your teacher was so hated that you managed to bond with other outcasts in your group, therefore making some friends, if a few months into your first year at college. You were miraculously guided by one of your nicer profs to a lawyer he had been collaborating with. This nice gentleman, Hiromi Higuruma, had been instructed by said prof to know which parts of the curriculum to explain to students that came asking, and you wouldn't need to bother yourself with showing to him what you needed help with.
Anxiety crippled you at first (ironic, isn't it?), but after about two days of fidgeting with your phone, you called on a Wednesday evening. A deep, smooth voice picked up:
"Hello? Who am I speaking to?"
Swiftly introducing yourself and stating your reason for contacting this man, he cuts you off rather coldly.
"I see, I'm assuming Kento assisted you. Does... Friday at 7 P.M. work?"
It did not work, not really. The last thing you wanted to do before the weekend was discuss your most dreaded subject. Nonetheless, you had to agree.
"Perfect. I'll call you then. Have a pen and paper ready with you, and make sure your camera is turned on. I'll test what you know for now, and check for improvement later."
Higuruma hung up instantly, a silent refusal to respond to any more questions. You were glad to have some help, really! But tutors like these, always stuck up and seemingly with a stick shoved up their asses at all times, really ticked you off.
Pulling up your schedule on your laptop, as you sat at your desk, studying, you remembered that the next day, Thursday, and then on Friday as well, you had Statistics. Just two more days until the weekend, and you could finally have some well deserved rest...
