Now, this is a project that I finished earlier. But I figured now that I'm settling in my new place, it's time to clean up my old projects and put them up.

Feeling cozy
So, I have been knitting while waiting for some of the things I've ordered to come in. The good news is things have come in already. Very soon I'll be back to working on the fox habitat. In the meantime, it's time to share my latest knitting project.
I ran out of yarn faster than I thought I would, so instead of a scarf, I had to sew it into something like an infinity scarf. The colour of the ends don't match very well, either. But... what can you do when you run out of yarn?
At least it still looks good on my boy, right?
The knitter returns...
So I mentioned a little earlier that I've been experimenting with knitting. It really is a nice hobby (as long as my poor hands can handle it, I guess. If I develop arthritis in the next 5 years, I'm blaming on the needles... ) I figured I'd share the latest hijinks with you. Shouting this out to the aether of Tumblr: "Folks, if you see this, lemme know how I did!"
This is Louis, my 1/6 blind box Dividing Line (FenJieXian) FuFu. Here demonstrating how you should always be well-prepared for winter (Because... Winter is coming!) I can't claim credit for the sweater here. A much more advanced friend knitted that for me. I like to think of it as encouragement.
This pair is older-sis Lora (Kids' Sky Garnet) and younger-bro Reiwa (Luts' event head on Sprouting Dragon's MSD body). Here I get to say I've pushed that ball of yarn to its maximum. Both hats and scarves came from the same ball of yarn! (Except the tassels on the scarves, that came from a different ball.)
There's a story for the characters here, I promise. It's been worked and reworked in my head while my hands are knitting. I'll get on it, promise. And I haven't forgotten about the Fox Habitat project, either. I'm just waiting for something else to come in!
Fox Habitat #3
It's been a while since the last update, but there's some progress. A bit of a surprising find, but hey, it makes sense that a cafe would have some background music, right? Just me?
So I picked up this wooden puzzle/music box set from the local dollar store, and I loved the concept of and took a gamble to see if the sizes would fit. Well, would you look at that!
The size looks pretty plausible! Maybe a tad on the big side, but it's serviceable. I may end up putting on more details on the box itself, but so far so good. We have the first piece of furniture!
Fox Habitat Log #2
Gotta say, sometimes the best laid plans don't really pan out the way you want it. It's unfortunate, but it happens. Since I had something like a café in mind, I got one of those miniature house kits that will build a café scene. The original idea is to build it, ditch the walls and just readjust the furnishings onto my previous set-up. After waiting for the kit to arrive... well...
The scene is lovely and the setting is great. But... After taking out the walls guesstimate the size of things... well, it looks like our fox girl is going to be way too big for this scene. So... no go. It looks like I have to look at a complete build from scratch. It's not the most atrocious thing, no. It'll just take longer in planning.
One good thing, though... It looks like ReMent sets are the perfect size for her. It looks like I'll be searching for more ReMent sets!
Knitting project
Taking a short break from building Fox habitat here. (I have been having a lot of trouble finding the kind of soft magnetic sheets that you can cut into shapes. It's like nobody's selling them anymore...) Thanks to an opportunity that just came up, I had the chance to test just how quickly can I knit something for my dolls. I'm not good at it and I'm still learning lots. So this is a nice opportunity. The model here is a slightly modified Little Monica Kliff, I think he looks rather cozy here, don't you?
The head stayed, but the knitting projects are actually on their way out to someone special as a surprise. I hope they'll like it!
Fox Habitat Log #1
I've decided to give my little fox girl her own place to live. The background story from the blind boxes mentioned that the girls were the proprietors of a small teahouse tucked into the mountains. And this gal is their pastry chef. Her official name is "Ah-Zhi", roughly translated into "Little Purple".
I've been thinking, I would really like to capture some of the essence of the background story. I need some implements for tea, and some place where it can feel somewhat mountain-y and cozy.
This is what I've found, so far:
This is just the beginning, of course. But at least the scales kinda fit. It's a good start. And the first thing is to change the drab black wrought iron with a little Rub 'n' Buff.
There, there. not half bad for part 1!
Tiny pocket dolls
For the longest time, I have a love/hate relationship with blind boxes. I personally think it's a gamble and therefore a bit of a money trap. But, once in a while I do like to try my luck. Sometimes I get lucky, sometimes no. This is going to be one of those times that I think I got lucky.
I love foxes. So when I saw Kikagoods selling these blind box tiny BJD dolls with a fox girl as their promo photo, I decided "OK, I'm going to try my luck."
Well.... Let's say, sometimes I do get lucky.
While the engineering leaves something to be desired (the head is too heavy for her to stand on her own safely, the tail is too heavy and the connection from body to tail is entirely too fragile), I am still happy that I get to have a cute little fox friend.
Now, I just need to build her a nice little home of her own!

Recollections in blue
Thanksgiving is a time for memories. So, outside of the crazy Black Friday door-busters and giant turkey meals... please take this opportunity to think about those whoa re less fortunate than you are, those who are in a less privileged condition, and those who are dealing with hardships. Take this opportunity to live the spirit of Thanksgiving - be nice to one another. After all, we're all in this together.
