APICS Certification

I've started a new series on the blog dealing with APICS certification. This is a certification for operations and logistics specialists in manufacturing. APICS is recognized worldwide and provides the training and resources for passing the different APICS levels. It's a good way to add more clout to your resume and get recognition for skills achieved on the job.

All the main details are covered in the post titled APICS certification.  

I've also talked about the three main certification levels:

APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)

APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)

APICS Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management (CFPIM)

There's plenty of great resources here for those interested in APICS certification. Even without a degree, you can get an APICS designation, as long as you pass the exams and have the requisite work experience.

Online Logistics Degree

I've created a new video for the website. It talks about the benefits of certification and the different options available. There are still plenty of manufacturing jobs in North America, but employers are more stringent with their hiring practices. Having a certificate or degree will give you that extra edge you may need to get a job.

If you are interested in logistics, there are several reputable colleges offering online logistics degree programs. It's hard to sort through the various options available, trying to discern what is a basic internet certificate and what is a recognized degree you can carry with you into the workplace. So I've done some of the legwork for you at manufacturing certification.

Think twice about becoming vegan

In today’s trendy artsy world, more and more young people are becoming vegan every single day. The reason most of these people become vegan is for the protection and welfare of animals. They encourage vegan meals, no meat, cheese, dairy, eggs etc. What most vegans do not realise is that there is a dirty underworld to the growing and manufacturing of this disgusting world trade that is kept well hidden from society.

Above is a picture taken in Indonesia of a carrot being prepared and slaughtered. The carrots are first skinned, then drowned, and can be eaten raw or are cooked in boiling water.

Also above is a disturbing picture of potatoes being ripped from their home. The preparation is the same as the carrots.

Bananas grow together in a herd. When they ripen, they are stolen from their family, and whilst they are still alive their skin is peeled back and their entire body is usually in eaten in about 6 bites.

Logistics covers the flow of material from the source to the customer, from the raw material stages, right up to finished goods and to the customer. Its a complicated process with many facets. There are plenty of job opportunities in the logistics field, if you have the right experience and certification.
