It's been so touching to see an outpour of support for Aboriginal art on this platform. I always recommend that anyone seek out local Native artists wherever you live. Whether that be on Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island land, Native American or Canadian Aboriginal land, wherever you find yourself! Find and support local Native communities and creators.

Here's an example of a commission I did last year. The marra (fish) in this painting represent each member of the family I did the painting for. Yellow circles around their heads showing that though they swim through a wide ocean of change and life, they are the centre of their world, and forever will be linked together.

Thanks to everyone who has interacted with my previous art post. I hope that I can help spread awareness of the meaning and importance of Native art, and help develop an appreciation for different kinds of art in the world.

what is it about things being gender neutral having to also be ‘masculine’. like, why can you wear a suit and tie and call it gender neutral but not a dress cause that’s feminine. why can you call people dude or guy as a gender neutral term but not girl cause that’s feminine. short hair is neutral but long hair is feminine. i mean i know why this is fully a rhetorical question but let’s think about that

I think a lot people don't realise that microaggressions are still racist. Just cause you're not saying a slur or wishing death on black people doesn't mean you're not being racist. ALL racism counts.

I think a lot of people think of themselves as decent or good, and thereby disqualify themselves from being able to act out, repeat, and do racist things. You dont have to be a consciously or hatefully racist person to do racist things. We all do them, intentional or not.

The real qualifier is whether or not you are willing to learn and do better. "Well im a good person" or "well i didnt mean to" doesnt actually help. Actively changing helps.

Broke out the ol' roller blades for the first time in like 5 years? Maybe longer? And even then I only used them a couple times and then got distracted by life things. Honestly just impressed the muscle memory is still kinda there.

Also, goin at night to get back into the motions was a great idea, no traffic, quiet, peaceful.

My feet kinda hurt cause I did laps of the nearest and smoothest streets to home for an hour straight, but that shit was fun. I think this is gonna be my new solo cardio activity for a little while now that I've finished my walk to mordor challenge.

I was in a book shop recently and the difference between the 'someone wrote this with passion' books and the 'someone followed/copied a currently popular formula to pull numbers' books is glaring to me, but both are selling well. Makes me sad sometimes.

i think we should start openly mocking male creatives who can't figure out how to write women. like actually i think it's embarrassing that it took elliot page transitioning for christopher nolan to give him a good role. why did it take like ten years to get the first female lead in a marvel movie? why is it a Known Fact that stephen king can't write women? why is 50% of the population omitted from large ensemble works? i asked my friend to name a movie directed by a man with a majority female cast and he said ghostbusters 2016. ghostbusters. ghostbusters. g

I feel like politicians' insults about each other have really gone down hill. These days it's all "moron" and "loser", so childish. Think what you will of Paul Keating, but he gave us such gems as "he's a shiver waiting for a spine", "debating him is like being flogged with warm lettuce", "he's like a lizard on a rock: alive but looking dead", "he's all tip and no iceberg".

Where's the creativity these days?!

I enjoy a british panel or two as much as the next guy, but I've noted a trend that is as funny as it is sad. Every so often one of the wHite men on any given panel will make an ounce of physical contact with any other wHite man on any given panel, and the audience eats that shit up like its the most naughty nasty scandelous funny thing they've ever witnessed. And I think this says much more about the repressed nature of the british public and their dire thirst for any amount of physical contact than anything else.
