Gurgaon - Millennial City #madeofgreat

Gurgaon is my favourite city in the world and is certainly #madeofgreat. In the last decade, Gurgaon has developed just like a foreign city with world class infrastructure and all the facilities are available here now. From education to healthcare to jobs to nightlife to real estate, everything is available in abundance here.

But Gurgaon was not always like this. In the 1980-1990′s, it was like a village with forests, green fields on vast acres of land. But in the late 1990′s, the city saw the real estate sector boom and there was no looking back since then.

Now, it has become the first choice for many people like me to work, play and live. And it has also become the preferred choice for investors and companies to put their money in this city.

The strongest driving force that made me fall in love with this city is its nightlife. After work, there are so many things to do to enjoy and have fun in your life. After work, when the sun sets - the real life starts in Gurgaon. There are so many amazing restaurants and pubs with artistic themes to have a great time with friends and family.

I have been living in Gurgaon since the last 10 years now. I have completed my education here, got the best job here and now settled with my family here only. This is the best thing about Gurgaon. All the opportunities in the world are available here, so you don’t need to leave this city to grow in your professional career. And I am having the best time of my life in this city everyday.

Now, talking about the Design of the city. Gurgaon is very famous for its skyscrapers. Now it has many skyscrapers with distinct architecture and styles. The housing system is also amazing in Gurgaon with  high rise residential towers and condominiums. Recently, we bought our first 4 BHK flat on the 9th floor of such a Skyscraper and the view of this Millennial City is amazing from the balcony.

Gurgaon is also popular for its restaurants and pubs with wide range of themes and styles. Kingdom of Dreams is a popular live entertainment place with unique architecture and hosts live plays. There is also a Culture Gully which is a arts, crafts & food boulevard.

And the city is never a complete without a proper connectivity system. Gurgaon has a great connectivity. Gurgaon comes under National Capital Region(NCR), so growth rate is fast in terms of everything. Delhi International Airport is only a few KMs away from Gurgaon. Delhi Metro has many stations in Gurgaon and provides easy connectivity to Delhi, Noida and Faridabad. Rail and road connectivity is also amazing in Gurgaon and you can easily drive within the city or to any nearby city easily without any hassles.

Churma - My Favourite Dessert Recipe

Churma is a very sweet traditional dessert recipe which is taught to me by my grandmother. It is a very famous dessert in the northern parts of India viz. Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, UP, etc. I have been completely in love with this dish and it has been my companion since childhood. This Churma recipe can be made using hot rotis, sugar and desi ghee. And the best part of this recipe is that we will substitute sugar with the all new ’Sugarfree Natura’.

Step by step recipe of Churma:

1) Take a very large bowl, put whole wheat flour into it with ¼ cup of melted ghee.

2) Mix the mixture very well till the time you get a bread like texture, then add a little milk and knead it to make stiff dough.

3) Now make 4-5 rotis(chapatis) of 5-7 inch diameter and half cm thick.

4) Now put all those hot 4-5 rotis in a bowl, add some ghee and two tablespoon of ‘Sugarfree Natura’. 

5) After that, start breaking and grinding the mixture using hands.

6) Add some more ghee and pieces of nuts and raisins and keep grinding the mixture.

7) Finally, Churma is ready to serve. Put some whole almonds and cashewnuts on it to add some more taste.

So, this is my favourite dessert recipe of all time. I can literally eat it daily if somebody can make it for me (because I am too lazy to do it myself ;) ). I am sure you guys also would definitely fall in love with this dish.

Soldier By Birth #madeofgreat

“Greatness is no more unique to us than breathing. We are all capable of it. All of us.”

All of us meet great people in our lives. But there is always that one person who really leaves a long lasting impression on ourselves. Someone who is truly #madeofgreat. For me, one such person was my childhood friend - Rahul.

We were only eight years old when we first met. We had shifted to a new location in our city and they were our neighbours there. Every day, we used to go to same school together. And slowly, we became best of friends. 

From that age itself, he was very calm, focused and very good in academics. He would help me in my homework and we used to play fun games together. and just like that, few years passed by happily.

And one day in school, our science teacher asked us - What do you want to be when you grow up? Some said doctor, some said scientists, some said actors but only Rahul said, “ I want to be a soldier and kill all our enemies.” All of the classmates started laughing as Rahul was very lean in health. Being a soldier didn’t suit his personality that time but he seemed very focused when he said that.

And then he started preparing himself. Everyday he would wake up early and go for a run. In the evening also, he would prepare himself physically. He also joined coaching for the NDA exam. For three years, he followed this routine and gave his complete dedication.

Finally, the day of exam had arrived. He was fully prepared. He easily cleared the exam and SSB. He went to National Defence College for Commissioned Training in Army. I went to Australia for my graduation. After four years when we met, he had already became a commissioned officer i.e. Lieutenant. It was a proud moment for us. I knew how much he worked hard to accomplish his dream.

He was posted at Jammu for his first posting in 2011. There were some terrorists activities going on at that point of time and he managed to kill the head of a local terrorist group and was awarded Shaurya Chakra for his heroic act.

And that day, I felt so proud that my friend Rahul managed to do what he always wanted to do - ‘To be a soldier and kill our enemies’. He is undeniably #madeofgreat. 

He is still serving our nation as a soldier. He is major in the Indian army now. And that day, I realised - everyone is made of great. We just need to give ourselves completely to achieve our dreams. We just need to find the force that drives us from within and all of us can be great in our lives.

Even though I call my mother, mom but she is also my best buddy. And I know for sure that I can forever count on her to be my most loyal friend, my harshest critic, and my biggest fan.

Today, I want to share ‘Khushi ke Pal’ I had with my mother and why I believe she is my best friend:

1) She inspires me to be positive self. My mother tells me everyday that I am very beautiful. But she doesn't think herself that she is a beautiful lady, but I think she is the most beautiful human being I've ever met. Inside and out. She usually never wears makeup. She wears simple clothes. She just sees the positive side in every situation, something which she has also taught me. She thrives off of good energy from her surroundings. Her beauty radiates in her simplicity, positiveness, smile, and ambition. She has the most rare beauty. It is from inside, which is also visible outside. She has the kind of beauty that never fades and lasts a lifetime. She is the most kind, loving, and positive person I know in my life.

2) She is honest just like a good friend. My mother always tells me what I need to hear, not what I just want to hear. She has stood by me at every moment of my life. She has always been the best friend I turn to for advice. She is the one who offers me shoulder to cry on. The closest friend whom I tell everything.

3) We can do shopping for each other. We know each other so well that we can do shopping for each other. We know our bodies. Our curves, our shapes, every beautiful body part. We know what do we like. We know which colors do we like. So, we can shop for each other just like good friends.

4) We can have a girls weekend together. We can drink together. We can watch movies together. We can gossip. We can have all the fun together. 

5) We can road trip together. We can have the road trip together and I am sure we will never get tired of each other. We love each other so much.

Though, I am not getting married soon and have children. But I wish and hope that I will have the same kind of relationship with my daughter that my mother has with me. And I honestly want, that someday, when I look myself in the mirror, I see somebody like my own mother.

My First Expert - My Mom

My Mom helped me in everything in life. She is the first person I rely on even now. She is my first expert.

My mother is the first person who has guided and encouraged me to become a better and more self-reliant person. She is my inspiration and the reason for what I am today. She is a very strong woman and never back down from anything in life. 

She’s always been there for me right from the start. She is my teacher, my parent, my protector, my everything in life.

Today, I want to share how she helps me in everything in life. Today, i want to share a normal day in my day to day life with my mother.

1) Before going to sleep, I will ask my mom to wake me up at 6 o'clock in the morning. Now I have asked my mom, I know that I don't even need to set up the alarm. My mom will definitely wake me up.

2) In the morning, she will start waking me up at time. Though initially, she will be very calm but if I do not wake up, she will start shouting and finally I will have to get up.

3) She will prepare food for me and get my clothes ready.

4) Then she will drop me to school and also picks me up from school.

5) In the afternoon, she will again prepare lunch for me and helps me in my homework. (Yes, my mom is multi-talented)

6) In the evening, sometimes I might go to play badminton with my mom and friends and sometimes, I just like to talk to my mom about what’s happening in my life and she will share her wisdom and helps me to take small decisions.

7) At night, we will watch Television and she will teach me the important things about whatever we are watching on TV.

Then I will go back to sleep and whole day cycle will start again with my mother.

Though I am not a kid anymore but I still need my mom everyday for her guidance and wisdom. She is the most important person in my life.

My 25th Birthday

My 25th birthday was the best and craziest birthday I have ever had in my life till now. It was the best time I had spend with my friends, colleagues, family and even strangers.

The day started at midnight for me. As the clock struck twelve, I started getting many phone calls and messages. I was trying to reply to all messages and was answering calls but as I was living with my friends, so all of them came up to me and started wishing me and gave me lots of birthday bumps. I had a great time with my friends that night. We talked, laughed and had a party till 4 o'clock in the morning. As all of us had office in the morning, so we decided to call off the night.

Then, in the morning, I woke up around 8 AM. My phone was still ringing continuously from all the messages and calls. I was feeling very special. So, I got ready and went to office. But I was not expecting the surprise that was waiting for me in the office. All of my colleagues had planned a surprise party for me. Initially, they all behaved normally and wished me happy birthday. But at lunch time, they gave me a huge vampire theme party because they knew that I love vampires.

After lunch, I decided to go home and meet my family and my boss gave me a free pass to go. That day, I wanted to do something helpful for a stranger. I wanted to do the giving. So, I went to temple and organized a lunch for poor people and gave them new clothes. I felt so happy and peaceful, helping strangers. That was the first time, I did something like that in my life. Though now a days, I do these kinds of givings regularly.

Later that evening, I reached home and met my family. My mom gave me a big hug. My pet dog, Roger, was really happy to see me and was jumping around like anything. My father and siblings, all were really happy to see me. We all decided to go out for dinner at a new restaurant that night. My parents had also invited our neighbour’s son to meet me. Actually, they wanted me to marry him. He was my friend since childhood, so I also got excited for this idea. We talked about our dreams and future. And today, because of that night only, he is my husband and we are living very happily.

That day, was very special for me. That day taught me a lot about love and life. That day gave me hope for a beautiful future. That day, I felt so much thankful to God for an amazing life.  I felt tremendously blessed.

My Most Memorable Day

There’s nothing more memorable in life than spending time with your loved ones.

Today, I will share my memorable days at different points in my life:

When I was 6 years old, my Dad took me to fishing. At that point of time, it was the biggest and most memorable day of my little life. My mother made sure I was properly ready. I had my white hat, a new fishing pole, and special lunch for my special day out with my father.

When I was 14 years old, I had my birthday party first time in a hotel. I invited all my friends from school and my family was also there. There was lunch and a pool party also. My birthday is in May, so that is the perfect time to enjoy the swimming and have fun. I got my new swimming suit, my mom did all the decorations and we all had great fun. It was my most memorable day at that point of my life.

When I was 18 years old, I got my driver’s license. It was the most memorable day of my teenage life and meant that I had more freedom and independence. My dad helped me prepare for this big day. He taught me how to drive, he took me to get my license, and finally got me a second hand car also. {Thank you dad!}

When I was 22 years old, I graduated from college. It was the most important and memorable day of my life at that time. I had really worked hard through college and was now ready to enter the work culture as a mature adult and make some real money honey. My parents worked really hard to get everything I needed in college. So, it was my time to help them. 

When I was 26 years old, I got married. It was the most important and memorable day of my life. This was my wedding day, the day that most little girls dream about. Finally, It was here. My parents were generous enough with the wedding budget and everything was looking perfect and beautiful.

When I was 29 years old, I had my first child. It was the most memorable and happy day of my life. I was so excited and also scared at the same time. Everything was going according to plan. My mother helped to prepare for the birth. My husband and mom drove me to the Hospital and helped to make me comfortable and get me through the whole process of giving birth. Finally, I heard the cry of my beautiful daughter, Riya, and I felt so much happiness in my heart.
