anyway, here's my nightmare oc:
they are a literal Nightmare conceived on the margins of a stranger's dream
during a surgical procedure, the dreamer suffered a cardiac arrest and flatlined. in those short minutes, the barrier between death and sleeping tore loose and the nightmare was expelled. the dreamer was resuscitated and woke, but the nightmare didn't return with them. now the nightmare is stuck in the physical world and cannot return to their realm.
they have two forms: humanoid form, which allows them to blend in with the waking world, and their true form (as pictured above)
as the nightmare begins experiencing life in the waking world, they begin to understand who they are and what their purpose was. but consciousness is so obscure even to humans, that they don't understand why they exist.
they begin to understand that the horrors of the waking world are far more permanent than in their own realm, which ends upon the dreamer's waking.
they're still capable of real terror, like an old reflex. their powers include:
hallucination projection - can force someone into a nightmare scenario (teeth falling out, being chased, etc.), however it isn't real.
spatial wrongness - able to walk through walls, doors, barriers with ease, and end up someplace completely different faster than humanly possible
perception manipulation - they're easier to be perceived in your peripheral vision, photographs tend to come out blurred, shadows behave wrong
presence effects - the room gets colder in their presence, electronics glitch out, things begin malfunctioning, lights flicker, etc.
i'll probably add more stuff later as i figure them out but there's the general idea :3
