actually, we’re working on getting a promo blog up and running at this very moment, and we should be ready to use it in about an hour ! our promo blog will be at mapoads ! however, it will be a redirect theme, so if you’d like to reblog, let us reblog a promo onto the main, or message the link so it works !
so, as you guys can probably tell, this directory has been going through a loss of activity, and the admin team wants to bring it back up !
to do this, we’ve decided to host a revamp ! as of today, july 18th, mapo will close for approximately a week to make a few changes, advertise for new members, host acceptances, let members plot, and come up with tasks and events for the future. during this time, no member will be unfollowed for activity.
no, mapo is not closing down or making any drastic changes, we just want to make sure this rp continues to flourish and run smoothly !
with this being said, members, we need your help ! if you guys can give us any suggestions, whether for things to change, future tasks or events, or just anything in general, please let us know! we hope to bring mapo up into an active and amazing directory !
Admin C here - aka a new admin! I’m joining the team hoping to up activity and revamp this group so that more people will join or old members will start to be active again! Hopefully, with the help of the other admins, we can revitalize this group!

Hello, everyone!
Unfortunately, things have been getting rather difficult in my personal life to manage continuing on as an admin so after a lot of thought, I have decided that I will be stepping down. My official departure will be happening during the weekend, not immediately.
However, I don’t want to leave the blog without any admins since the other admins are on hiatus and there’s still uncertainty about when they’ll be able to return, so if anyone is able to commit time into managing this blog (and the other two blogs), then please feel free to message me anytime during this week.

No, it isn’t dead. At least, I don’t think so! In terms of activity amongst our members, things are probably a bit slow since a lot of them have things happening in real life (which is why quite a few have gone on hiatus) but it should kick up soon!
As for the lack of activity on the main blog, there actually haven’t been many messages, and no applications have been received either so there really hasn’t been much to post. But despite that, this place isn’t dead! And hopefully sometime next week, a new meme will be posted so that should create a bit more activity too.

A warm welcome to our newest citizen of Mapo, ALEXIS SAMARA LEYVA. She is 23 years old and is currently working as a BACKUP DANCER AT YG AND CO-INSTRUCTOR AT MILLENIUM DANCE STUDIO. Don’t forget to say hello and show them around!
i. under the scorching hot sun of miami, florida, alexis samara leyva is born in the backseat of a cab, the traffic too stuck at rush hour to make it to the hospital. she’s born on the move, and her mother claims that’s why she never stays still. she learns to dance before she can walk and her bright eyes stay bright even after her light brown baby hair turns dark. she’s beautiful even as a baby, and her mother knows she’s going to be a heartbreaker, she tells her everyday, even though baby alexis doesn’t yet understand.
ii. the canvas shoes fit too tight around her feet so alex runs barefooted around the dance studio with laughter spilling from her mouth. the teacher hits the floor with the baton to keep her in rhythm, but alex doesn’t really care for first position and grand battements. she doesn’t even last a month in the class before the teacher says she’s impossible to teach and tells her mother to take her to behavioural classes. alex doesn’t really care though, because ballet is boring anyway.
iii. the salsa dress is overdone and stuffy, and her head really hurts from the tightly pulled bun bathed in hairspray. alex doesn’t like salsa either, and she especially doesn’t like that she has to follow another person when all she wants to do is just move to her own rhythm. she makes it through a whole term and one performance, and after it she tears her dress to shreds and throws her shoes out of the window.
iv. she’s four and there’s another human being in her arms. she holds her sister close to her chest, carefully, still for the first time in her life because she’s afraid she’ll break her if she moves. she’s only known her for a few hours but she already loves her to pieces and she knows she would do anything for her.
v. the sneakers on her feet are comfortable and her long, long hair flows nicely as she moves around the room. there’s only music and some basic steps and alex is so happy that she can finally do what she wants. the teacher is so impressed by her she immediately puts her at the front of the class so all the other kids can learn from her, but alex doesn’t really care for that. all she cares about is that she can dance the way she wants to, the way she’s been wanting all her life but they just wouldn’t let her.
vi. when her sister turns one, her mother explains to her that she has to say goodbye to her friends, because they’re moving to a different country to be with dad. dad is a mythological figure to alexis, a man that comes home every few months, full of presents, with really short hair and this very ugly green uniform and backpack. she knows that’s her dad, but she doesn’t really know dad.
vii. the move to cairo is only the first of many and, after five more countries and seven years, alex learns that friends are temporary. at least she has her sister and her dancing, because it doesn’t matter where alex goes, she’ll dance, even if she has to do it on her own in their basement.
viii. her quinceañera is celebrated back in cuba, in a big party where she finally meets all of her mother’s family in person. the dress her mother makes her wear is bright pink and she looks like a cupcake, but she endures it because it’s floor length so she can at least wear her black converse under it. she dances with everyone, not letting her primos or tíos or even her dad lead the way and instead moving along the dance floor like the ball of movement that she is.
ix. she gets her high school diploma in seoul, which so far has been a great city to live in. alex struggles with the language, but the dance academies flourish around the whole city and dancing is an international language anyway. at eighteen, she decides to stay in the city where she became an adult, even if her parents and sister keep moving around. she starts studying at snu, but there’s no dance major so alex just drifts through the different language classes and never graduates.
x. she knows she’ll never be in one of those idol groups she sees in billboards around the city, but she auditions for one of the companies anyway because it doesn’t hurt to try, right? she’s hired as a back up dancer and that’s enough for alex, who has never really craved for the spotlight. the dance academy where she has been receiving lessons since she was seventeen tells her there’s a spot for a new dance teacher, and she gladly takes it.
PERSONALITY
From her bright eyes and sharp features to her unusual name and strong accent, everything about Alex is striking. She catches people’s attention when she enters a room, and she knows it. She doesn’t crave it though, she has never really cared much about what other people think, all she cares about is that she can do whatever she want. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind, telling things how she sees them, which has made her garner some enemies along the way and more than a few strange looks. Being a firm supporter of sexual liberation, feminism and the LGBTQ+ community makes her a bit too modern for the still traditional Korea, but she doesn’t mind, as long as she’s being true to herself. She’s passionate about her job and most things in her life, because she simply doesn’t see the point in half-assing things: if you don’t like something, why would you do it? And equally, if you like something, why won’t you do it?
SUGGESTED FACE CLAIMS: Kim Woobin? Can be anyone to be honest.
PLOT: High School was fun, but when he thinks about it now, there are many regrets on what he did and the kind of boy he was; getting in trouble and making trouble constantly. If there’s a thing he does not regret, though, is meeting him.
Stop being one of them was hard. Harder than he thought it would be, and he never gave an explanation as to why he suddenly dropped them so it was no surprise they stopped talking. They were no longer looking at the same direction.
He was another story, because even if CheolHo won’t admit it, he loved the guy and couldn’t bring it on himself to give up on their friendship. And so he didn’t.
He’s the only connection he has with his hometown besides his grandparents. He’s the one CheolHo is not afraid of showing his true colors.
is bubble rping allowed? because i've noticed an increase in that. not gonna name muses here but it is quite obvious especially when they're spamming their thread replies on the dash and ignoring welcome messages from other muses.
Since it makes it seem like there are “cliques” forming, with people mostly sticking to their small groups, it isn’t something that we encourage or allow. Even though it can be hard to think of how muses can interact with one another, we still do not want people to become selective at all and to make others feel like they’re being ignored when they’re attempting to reach out. We want the vibe of the ooc side of this roleplay to be friendly, welcoming to everyone; regardless of their muses.
If this continues being an issue, we may make steps to ensure that people aren’t being selective. This may be in the form of monthly checks where people have to have a ongoing threads with a set amount of different individuals; alongside the weekly activity checks.
SUGGESTED FACE CLAIMS: Sisters: Park Si Yeon, Lee Bo Young, Han Ga In, Lee Min Jung, Han Ji Min, Son Ye Jin, Kim Sun Ah, Park Kahi (in order of bias if I’m being totally honest)
Brothers: Lee Hyun Jae, Choi Jong Hoon (F.T. Island), Lee Kiseop.
PLOT: Dahui has two older sisters, one younger sister and potentially a younger brother. She’s 26 years old! All of her siblings are within the 37 y/o - 23 y/o threshold and none of them are 26 (although fcs can be older or younger than specified of course). Dahui is the loner sibling who’s really bad at keeping in touch, so someone to ground her would be awesome. LGBT+ characters are very welcome but they didn’t grow up in the most liberal of households (it wasn’t exactly bible camp either but you get my drift) so it probably would have been a struggle for said character. One last requirement/request is that their last name is Ah (even if they’re married, it’s tradition in their household to keep their surname). Please message me if anything is confusing!
