"What? No, no -- I don't have time for your shit right now."
THE MAGIC BEGINS ā³ 17. Favourite Marauder: Sirius Black
marauders era modern au
ā„ sirius black
sirius works at the coffee shop with james while also studying art (which he believes is something that canāt be taught- but his parent disagree). the coffee shop is known for having siriusā motorbike out the front of it which he parks there most mornings, and most evenings sirius can be seen leaving on it with remus from the flower shop.

"Well maybe a little⦠Two weeks locked up in St Mungoās and another in my house⦠I couldnāt wait to come back to school." Marlene scoffed before dropping her voice almost to a whisper. "And to you." She smiled slightly, before raising her voice again and stepping back. "So I was quite surprised that when I talked to Peter this morning, he told me that Iād apparently pissed you off by flirting with a Ravenclaw." Her eyebrows raised Ā but her eyes still twinkled with amusement.
"At least you didn't miss much. A quidditch practice or two, and everyone beginning to study for NEWTS. Otherwise, it's like you never left." Sirius shrugged, then offered her another cheshire grin. "Missed you too, you crazy bat." At her words, he huffed, rubbing a hand on his temple. "Yeah, it was the only thing I could come up with to get him to stop asking questions. I just haven't been--" He trailed off for a moment, teeth pulling at his lip as he tried to pinpoint the right words. "Just not myself, lately."
"And youāre a bloody horrible brother, so I guess that makes us even, huh?" He flipped through a few pages in his book.
Sirius fumed, shoving the book away from Regulus. "Obviously I'm so fucking horrible, yeah? Because a horrible brother would surely come over to sit with you and make sure you're doing alright. Fucking prick."
"Well unfortunately they wonāt let me into the hospital wing after last time, so I saw you walking out and I assumed you were visiting her so,.. Is she alright?"
"Last time? What did you fuck up last time that pissed Pomfrey off so much?" Sirius eyed him cautiously, but only got the feeling like Amycus felt genuinely concerned. Still, he didn't want word to get back to Bellatrix. "I wasn't there to see her. But from what I know, she's doing better. Should be out soon."
"I donāt know, two hours?"
"You alright? Seem a little...out of it. You're never one to sleep through a practice."
"Oh but you do now, I heard Andromeda took a tumble."
"And what about it? She's your housemate; go talk to her about it if you're so concerned."
"Iām fine, Sirius." he said shortly, staring back down at the book in front of him.
"You're a bloody horrible liar." Sirius replied just as tersely, refusing to move himself from his seat or his eyes from Regulus.
She loved it when they were younger and they would all run into Siriusās room, when they were all at the Black Family Manor, and huddle together during storms. It was when she had felt closest to her family. āYou know, before Christmas, Reg and I talked about you. About whether you did the right thing in getting out of our fucked up family. I think you did. I personally think heās angry because he doesnāt have the strength to do what you did. Iām not sure I have that strength either.ā She listened to him talk about Potter. āWhat even is it like, having parents who give a shit?ā she asked, frowning slightly. āIs it as amazing as it sounds?ā
His head leaning back on the wall, Sirius let his eyes droop and his fingers play with Andie's hair. He hummed a sound of surprise when she mentioned her conversation with Regulus, an eye opening to peer at her in obvious curiosity. "I didn't really have a choice. I had to run. I have to act unfazed, like it didn't matter. But not a day goes by that I don't think about that night. Honestly, I wish I never had to do it. It would be simpler to be Regulus, wouldn't it?" Sirius shook his head lazily, wishing for a bottle of whiskey or something, anything, to numb the sting of this discussion. "You're strong, Andie. Strongest person I know." His head fell to her shoulder, his mind tracing through memories of the summers with the Potters. "It's amazing. Although, the Potters put all other parents to shame, to be honest. But it was nice, to have someone give a shit. It made me realize how little my parents did. How terrible they were."
"No itās because youāre so damn stupid." Marlene grumbled into his ear before pulling out of the hug and examining his face. "Hey thatās a good-un." She grinned and poked the red spot, her anger ebbing away as she looked at his still dumbfounded face. "So how was life without Marlene McKinnon, hmm?"
"So nice to me, aren't you?" Sirius scoffed, though a smile flickered through his words. He wrinkled his nose at her, rubbing the now-tingling spot on his cheek. "You've done worse." He commented, raising his brows slightly as he looked over her. "Rather boring, as you would expect. Nothing really happened around here. Just a handful of lonely detentions. Did you miss me?"
He sighed as he saw Sirius walking over. Regulus looked up and shook his head. āWhat do you mean?ā
Sirius rolled his eyes, leaning back in the chair with his arms crossed. "Don't play dumb, Regulus. Are you alright?"
"Nope this is an urgent matter."
"I don't have time for your bullshit, Carrow."
He took a few deep breaths, trying to calm down before glancing at someone a few tablesā¦who just happened to be his brother. āGreat,ā he muttered, looking down and trying to go back to reading.
Sirius frowned, watching Regulus a little too intently to keep up his faƧade as the uncaring brother. After glancing around to make sure Bellatrix or Narcissa didn't lurk about, Sirius shut his book and slipped from his table and to Regulus'. He took the seat across from his brother, face still screwed up in concern. "What was that about?"
"And you used me?!" Marleneās clenched her fist as she turned away from him. But just as quickly as it changed before, her mood switched again and she threw herself at him. She kissed the spot where she hit him and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Iāve missed you too much to be mad."
"I didn't--" Sirius started exasperatedly, his shoulder's drooping. He should have known this would have turned out to be a mess. But before he could explain himself and dig himself into a deeper hole, Marlene collapsed against his chest, her lips leaving a peck on the now-red mark on his cheek. He let out a breathy laugh, smiling while wrapping his arms around her waist. "It's because I'm so damn irresistible, isn't it?"
