I've been in marauders fandom basically my whole life, and I've IDed as an otherkin the last few years, but I only recently put together how related the two are! I have a decently popular fandom blog but unfortunately I'm not out on it, so I'm making this one! My favorites are Remus (obviously), Sirius, and Luna. I’m following marauderkin, because even though I’m not a fictive, I very much believe in solidarity in the community. As should everyone. 

I also believe in helping other oppressed groups, because if we don’t help them, how can we expect them to help us?

And vice versa really. It’s all about giving each other a leg up.

I really appreciate this, and I think its such an important message. Sometimes I feel like I see so much infighting in this community that others don't seem to have, and it's depressing. A lot of beings want to insult beings who should be their allies for some chance at being accepted by less tolerant non-kin. I understand the impulse, especially for beings who have just discovered their true selves and are still working through everything (I know I struggled a lot at first) but it's not going to help. It won't lead to acceptance from people who just want to hurt us, and even if it did, is it worth it if you've gotten it by stepping on those who would have helped you?

Sorry for the rant, haha, but I get that way sometimes. Anyway, I'm really excited about your blog! You're actually one of my first mutuals too. I started this and got a little intimidated, I suppose, but I'm going to try to be more active.

Your Fave Was Sexist #1

In Remus Lupin's Pottermore biography, it is revealed through his language that he thinks of women as objects to be "got[ten]." He also establishes women as a monolith of presumably air-headed bimbos, by saying of Sirius that, "he always got the women." The women. Not specific women who were individuals and liked Sirius for actual reasons, but some unnamed undistinguished mass. He gives them no agency. If Sirius "got" them, it was in no way active on their parts. Rather, they swooned into his arms because women, as Remus Lupin knows, are not thinking beings. (This is particularly interesting when one considers that we see indications of girls pursuing Sirius rather than the other way around, implying that this is possibly just Remus' bias.)

He also delivers this line in the context of being angry that he perceives Tonks to be attracted to Sirius rather than to himself. This is incredibly controlling and unhealthy and presumes some right to Tonks' affection. Tonks doesn't respond to it as such, but it still gives the discerning reader insight into Remus' thought process. That he is interested in Tonks means she ought to be interested in him in return, rather than allowing her to enjoy the "increasingly warm friendship" they had up until this point. This friendship is not allowed to exist on its own terms, but rather must be building up to Remus' personal and sexual gratification, which is a fairly typical instance of the "Nice Guy" trope.

Remus Lupin needs to check his heterosexual male privilege.

I'm really interested in seeing if there's anyone in the tracked tags who would be interested in the type of fandom conversations I want to have but you can only try to get a post to tag properly so many times before you just feel stupid. Maybe I should wait until I have time to do a longer explanation of my theories and headcanons.

I honestly think it's kind of messed up that no one ever talks about how important the Marauders are as otherkin representation. I know I'm not the only one who was inexplicably drawn to them before ever coming online and finding out about the community. It would be so important to our visibility to have it acknowledged that this may not necessarily be canon but is still a valid interpretation.
