“Let me know when you’re ready,” he said lightly, turning to keep a lookout again. Practice runs were supposed to be easy, but even just a practice was a risk now, with Voldemort on the rise again. At least he’d been trusted to watch Alice’s back.
She scrubbed at her eyes and sighed before pinching the bridge of her nose. Hard to say whether the dizziness or the ache in her fingers was worse, honestly, but if the former would just fade, she’d at least be ready to work.
“Alright,” she squeezed out a few moments later. “Sorry about that. I’m— Let’s go.”
“You’re fine, Alice.” Remus flashed her a smile and set off at a walk. He was so much taller than her that he had to actively shorten his stride, but they could go at an easy pace for both of them. “How’s things at home?” he asked after a bit, trying to ease the tension. “Still mother-henning you?”
