Egbe Awo Osun, a recently formed group of Olo Oshun (priests of Oshun) are organizing donations in support of Standing Rock Sioux Nation and the water defenders.
Their statement:
“ALAFIA! PEACE! As practitioners of a nature-based religion, Awo Oṣun is moved to stand with our brothers and sisters of the Sioux Nation. We are supporting this cause because the Dakota Access pipeline is threatening water, the life blood of the earth. Please join us and support native people as they affirm the importance of the natural world and the shift toward alternative renewable energy. After exploring a variety of options, Awo Oṣun has decided to contribute directly to the Sioux Nation. Funds are needed for warm clothing and legal fees. We ask that you consider making a contribution using the link below. No amount is too small. http://standingrock.org/news/standing-rock-sioux-tribe–dakota-access-pipeline-donation-fund/ Please send an email to [email protected] with the subject heading: Donation to Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Include your name, the date and amount donated. Donors will be acknowledged on the Awo Oṣun Fundraising Event Facebook page (unless you’d like to remain anonymous). This is the first campaign of the Awo Oṣun Environmental Committee, which was established to raise awareness and inspire action regarding critical issues facing our planet (water, climate change, fracking, etc.). We hope you will work with us for the sake of those who come after us. In solidarity, Awo Oṣun Environmental Committee”
I couldn’t be prouder of my fellow Olo Oshuns right now. I just made a donation myself, and I encourage especially those of us who are ab’Orisha and Olorisha to do the same.
Oshun is the deity of rivers - it’s our duty to keep her waters clean.
