"These are strange times. I’m Dorothy, by the way."
"Marcella Adams. Pleasure to meet you, Dorothy. So, I assume madness hasn't taken it's grip on you?"
"Not quite, no."
"Then you're just pleasantly surprising me." She shrugged.
"Sure. Thank you, Dominic."
"Of course."
"No, I suppose not. If there’s anything I can do to help you, let me know."
"Sure. Thank you, Dominic."
"I made the mistake of saying a few things that should not have been said to the people they were said to."
"You just keep pleasantly surprising people, Dominic."
"Fortunately, me neither. I am one of the sane ones, I have to admit."
"I'm glad to hear that."
"I believe I owe a few people apologies…"
"Why would you owe anyone an apology?" Marcella frowned, titling her head at Dominic.
Persephone was relieved. It was good news; great even. Minthe was still ignorant about who she was and that is wonderful. “Just asking. A lot of people seem to be having them. Weird dreams and phantasmagorias.”
"I'm not one of them, fortunately. You, Penelope? Have you been having them?"
"Well, good luck with the hunt."
"Thank you. It won't be an easy one, though."
He nodded quickly, grin flashing over his face. “Though, it’s the things going on behind that smokescreen that matter.” He paused for a moment, sobering, before he spoke again. “A nice thought, but you were probably closer to right the first time.” He couldn’t pretend for long that he was something better than a terrible person by the standard of most. The knowledge didn’t particularly bother him though, as he saw it as the only way to accomplish what needed to get done; Someone needed to do it.
She nodded, quite certain she was right the first time. It wasn't a heard guess, really. Dominic was very intimidating and intense and it was just one of the reasons she was so intrigued by him. "I don't doubt I was. Still, we are all human. I don't think you sound be too hard on yourself. We all have our good and bad traits."
"You’re welcome. Obviously, that’s just further evidence you need a new boss."
"Evidently."

He laughed himself, slightly. “Appearances are everything, though I must admit, I am slightly wounded. Innocent souls? Really? I don’t think I’m so bad as to continuously corrupt the innocent.”
"I cannot agree more; appearances truly are everything." She chuckled more, enjoying the relaxed conversation. "That's not about being good or bad, but strong and influential. If I had learned anything on my job it's that people look for such qualities and take the wielder as a sort of a role model. A figure to look upon."
"Credit where credit is due."
"Still, thank you. I get compliments for my credit rarely."
The smile is returned once the cigarette is lit, the combination of nicotine and sunshine relaxing him slightly. “I wouldn’t know. Contrary to popular belief, I don’t conduct my business in dark corners. What would be the fun in that?” He glanced around quickly. “Though, there isn’t usually this much fresh air.”
She let out a small laugh before arching her eyebrow. "The you got us all fooled. I though you only resided in the underworld, preying on innocent souls during the dark." She mused, chuckling. "Fun, indeed. I can't say I miss that on my work."
"Fair enough. I’m sure any other newspaper would be happy to have you. What you write is always good."
Marcella arched her eyebrows in surprise. "Well... I -- Thank you, Dominic. I appreciate that." She smiled.
