Fynn’s not fond of ugly squidmas sweaters but he has to wear it for his family. Worst of all, his mom picked out the “best” sweater.

(helpful-yellow-inkling, bday starter!) Today is October 8th, which is the bday of both Eika and Eimie. With the two gifts in his grasp, Jesse went ahead and visited the two of them. Of course, he and Eika hang out with each all the time now. However, he and Eimie haven’t seen each other in a while, which made things more exciting for him. He gently knocks on the door and awaits what comes ahead.

Inside the house, a loud excited voice was cheering, while a calmer soft voice followed. As soon as Jesse knocked, the voices went silent. Not even a second later, the door opened.

“Ooooh! Jesse! Yay!!” Eika cheers excited. Her eyes immediately focused on the gifts. “Oooh! Eim! C'mon! Jesse’s here!”

Eika hugged Jesse and giggled. Just then, Eimie saw the happy couple. “Heh.. Hey! What’s up! Long time no see.”

“Howdy! Glad I can make it!” Jesse replies, hugging Eika back with one arm while holding the presents on the other.

“It’s great to see ya again too, Eimie! I’ve taken this opportunity to hopefully see the both of you on this delightful day!” Jesse hands the two presents over to the two girls, which unbeknownst to them, both contain soft, purple sweaters.

“Hope you liked what I picked out! It’s startin’ to get pretty chilly lately, so I figured this would be the right thing to gift y’all.”

Eika opened her gift in less than a second. "Ooooooh! Purple! My favourite!!! Howdya know???"

Eimie opened her gift as well. "Sweet! The best thing out of having a birthday in fall is that you always get the best clothes for the cold weather. Remember that scarf from last year, Eika?"

Eika nodded. "I got you a scarf, but you also got one! I dunno how we managed to gift each other the same gift? It's almost like we are connected!

Eimie shrugged. "It's a mystery for everybody. But hey Jesse, let me thank you by inviting you over for dinner! How's that sound?"

“I..” Just the mental image of herself in a bunny girl costume made her blush madly.

“Yeah, I-I could do that, no sweat! I mean, it’s just you that gets to see me like that, so s-sure! I’ll model just about anything as long as I get to tease you, heh…” Eimie shrugged and nodded. “I’ll get one someday and surprise you, just you wait, eh!”

With a sigh of relief, Fynn leans in and plants a kiss on her forehead. “I’m sure you’ll be able to pull it off, ‘hun. For now, let’s chill for a while.”

Suddenly, he felt his stomach rumble with hunger. “..Starting with food.” He hasn’t eaten anything since they arrived back home.

“Yeah… we need to eat something, eh?” She nodded and looked around. 

“I could go ahead and make us something real quick… or just order something and watch a movie and chill, or anything while it arrives.” Eimie shrugged.

“Hmmm.. we haven’t ordered delivery in a while.. Let me think..” He was pondering a bit until he knew where to order from. “Pizza Time.” Fynn made his decision.

“I suggest we order pizza for tonight.” He knows a good pizza restaurant across the street where it’s open 24/7.

“Pizza, yass!” Eimie immediately grinned. “I’ll go ahead and order it. How about you find something nice for us to watch?” She took out her phone and opened up an app.

“Y'know, we could also drink tonight. To celebrate our first vacation trip being a success!” She suggested, while using her phone to order their pizza.

“Hell yeah! He fist pumped into the air. “Not only that, it’s to celebrate my success of the trial in the tower.” It’s been a few months since he last drank for this occasion.

While Eimie is ordering something, Fynn opened up a wide selection of movies on Squidflix. (“Maybe, I’ll pick something like a detective movie..”) He scrolled down to the crime movie category and immediately found what he was looking for.

Eimie made a few more taps on her phone and…

“30 minutes, or it’s free. Sounds good to me.” She mentioned. “I’ll go change into something more… comfy! How about you get the drinks ready, babe? I really can’t wait to start enjoying our evening! We got lots celebration to do.”

Fynn makes his way to the kitchen while they wait for their delivery. Inside the refridgerator, he reached for a large bottle from on of the drawers. Inside it was a bottle of white wine.

“A celebration ain’t complete without this.” He placed the bottle on the counter top. Before he left out of town, Fynn had took this wine bottle out of the cellar in his own private beach house. He can go there anytime since he now has his father’s beach house key.

In just a few minutes, Eimie was ready, now wearing a simple crop top and shorts. Just as comfy as she could get.

She then peeked at the kitchen. “So, whatcha got there for us? That looks fancy!” Eimie approached Fynn, also taking a closer look at the bottle.

“I brought some white wine from my dad’s cellar in the beach house. He has a wide collection of wine bottle from faraway places. Now that I think about it, my old man loves to travel a lot outside of Inkopolis.” Fynn brings out two wine glasses.

He opened the huge bottle and proceeds to pour in two glasses. Once he was finished, he closed the bottle. He might leave the bottle out in case they both need a refill.

”Hmmm… We might follow his steps and travel a lot outside of Inkpolis in the future! Who knows what kind of stuff might wait for us away from the city.“ Eimie said, watching closely as the two glasses were filled.

After a knock on the door from a delivery squid, Eimie had their dinner ready. She helped Fynn take everything to the room, where a movie was just waiting for them.

“We got everything now! So… shall we give closure to the best week we’ve had so far?”

Fynn could smell the fresh aroma of pizza coming out of the box. Now that the setting is complete, he brought both glasses to the living room.

“Yeah, let’s. This week has been great, so far.” Fynn picked up his glass and raised it in the air. “Shall we make a toast, ‘hun?”

“Sure!” Eimie raised her glass as well.

“Here’s to many more adventures, trips, and whatever life has prepared for us! No matter the tasks or tests that we may stumble upon, I bet we can deal with anything together, and nothing can nor will stop us!” She said, adding a little fun tone of voice to her toast.

"Here, here!” Fynn replied. “And we’ll continue to support each other when things get rough. With that said: Cheers!” Fynn clinks glasses with Eimie.

Once the toast concluded, he takes the first sip of the wine. It has a unique sweet flavor at first until he feels a warm feeling after a gulps down.

Eimie felt the soft sting of the wine in her mouth. She grinned at Fynn and scooted close to him.

The movie Fynn chose had started and the pizza was just minutes away from being devoured by two hungry squids.

With their vacations finally over, Eimie enjoyed her night with Fynn, just before resuming her daily grind in a couple of days.

Eimie carried her stuff following behind Fynn. Suddenly, Eika tackle-hugged Eimie.

“OH MY COD EIMIE IT’S BEEN LIKE FOREVER SINCE I LAST SAW YAAAAA!” Eika hugged her tight, even lifting and slightly swinging her around.

“What the hell, since when are you so strong to just simply pick me up…?” She asked, still being flailed around by her elder sister. “Ehhh, hey Dawn. Sup. I’ll greet you properly whenever Eika puts me down”.

“Three days doesn’t make it ‘forever’, y'know..” Fynn and Dawn were both surprised by the sudden attack-hug. “Anyway.. Here’s your souveneir.” He presented the shopping district bag to Dawn.

Dawn took a look inside and she was pleased. “I knew I could count on you, Bro.”

“Yeah, yeah.. You’re welcome..” He rolls his eyes. “By the way.. How did you and Eika become aquainted with one another?” He asked.

“We happened to bump into each other at the terminal. The moment I told her my name and I’m your brother, she’s very lively to greet me.” She looks over to Eimie getting squeezed.

“I’ve prepared tons of gifts for ya, but I forgot them back home, so maybe I can bring them over to ya house tomorrow! Whaddaya think?” Eika suggested, still hugging Eimie tight.

“How come you forgot to bring stuff? I texted you early, just wondering…” Eimie tried to free herself from Eika’s grasp.

“Oh, as soon as you texted me, I ran over here to wait. It’s been hours, but hey! It was worth it!!” Eika explained, finally letting go of her sister. “Oh oh! But maybe we can go eat something, the four of us! I did brought money, so don’t be shy and ask for whatever ya want, yeah!”

“That’s all fine and all, but…” Fynn covered his mouth and lets out a yawn. “I haven’t gotten any good sleep on the train..”

“Hold on. I might have something, you can stay awake.” Dawn reached inside her pocket and pulls out a couple of mints for her brother and Eimie. “Maybe these will help you stay awake. The mints have a stronger kick to it, so you’ll be full of energy for the time being.” She insisted.

Eimie looked up at Fynn. “I mean, I am down for anything, but if you feel tired and rather go rest, then let’s go home.” She seemed fine with Fynn’s choice.

“Eimie texted me and told me ya all drank coffee! You still feel sleepy after that?” Eika asked curiously.

“Well…” Eimie chuckled. “I work at a place where coffee is served, brewed, and grinded all day. My clothes smell like coffee all day and we drink it almost daily. I think we are now immune to the effects of coffee at this point!”

Fynn stared out the window of the back passenger seat. Along the ride, he could see Deca Tower where the Great Zapfish is resting from here.

Eika took them home without any hassle. The streets were empty, with very little traffic to be seen. This made the ride back home even smoother.

Just a few blocks away from their home, Eika finally broke the silence. “Have ya guys heard the rumors? Apparently some wacky stuff happened near the coast. I didn’t get the details, but apparently it triggered a change in fashion and now there’s tons of squids trying new tentacle styles!”

Eika took them home without any hassle. The streets were empty, with very little traffic to be seen. This made the ride back home even smoother.

Just a few blocks away from their home, Eika finally broke the silence. “Have ya guys heard the rumors? Apparently some wacky stuff happened near the coast. I didn’t get the details, but apparently it triggered a change in fashion and now there’s tons of squids trying new tentacle styles!”

He made his way to the 2nd floor where they live in. Once he made it to his home, reached for his left pocket and grabbed the house key. “Finally, some sleep..” He said, unlocking and opening the door.

Eimie had made sure to keep the apartment nice and tidy before they left. As soon as they entered, the familiar setting of their apartment filled Eimie with joy.

“Cod. I missed here so much…” She followed Fynn inside and left some of their luggage next to the entrance.

Muffin responds by crawling up to his shoulder. She purrs happily by nuzzling his neck. It does tickles his neck, a bit.

“Well…” Eimie chuckled. “I work at a place where coffee is served, brewed, and grinded all day. My clothes smell like coffee all day and we drink it almost daily. I think we are now immune to the effects of coffee at this point!”

"Rest well Fynn!!" Eika waved as he exited the living room. "Now, tell me about your trip, Eimie! Let's unpack all your stuff as well!*

The girls spent the afternoon unpacking, as well as talking and catching up with each other.

After a couple of hours, Eimie quietly opened the door to their room to see Fynn. "...Babe?" She whispered to check up on him.

Eimie carried her stuff following behind Fynn. Suddenly, Eika tackle-hugged Eimie.

“OH MY COD EIMIE IT’S BEEN LIKE FOREVER SINCE I LAST SAW YAAAAA!” Eika hugged her tight, even lifting and slightly swinging her around.

“What the hell, since when are you so strong to just simply pick me up…?” She asked, still being flailed around by her elder sister. “Ehhh, hey Dawn. Sup. I’ll greet you properly whenever Eika puts me down”.

“Three days doesn’t make it ‘forever’, y'know..” Fynn and Dawn were both surprised by the sudden attack-hug. “Anyway.. Here’s your souveneir.” He presented the shopping district bag to Dawn.

Dawn took a look inside and she was pleased. “I knew I could count on you, Bro.”

“Yeah, yeah.. You’re welcome..” He rolls his eyes. “By the way.. How did you and Eika become aquainted with one another?” He asked.

“We happened to bump into each other at the terminal. The moment I told her my name and I’m your brother, she’s very lively to greet me.” She looks over to Eimie getting squeezed.

“I’ve prepared tons of gifts for ya, but I forgot them back home, so maybe I can bring them over to ya house tomorrow! Whaddaya think?” Eika suggested, still hugging Eimie tight.

“How come you forgot to bring stuff? I texted you early, just wondering…” Eimie tried to free herself from Eika’s grasp.

“Oh, as soon as you texted me, I ran over here to wait. It’s been hours, but hey! It was worth it!!” Eika explained, finally letting go of her sister. “Oh oh! But maybe we can go eat something, the four of us! I did brought money, so don’t be shy and ask for whatever ya want, yeah!”

“That’s all fine and all, but…” Fynn covered his mouth and lets out a yawn. “I haven’t gotten any good sleep on the train..”

“Hold on. I might have something, you can stay awake.” Dawn reached inside her pocket and pulls out a couple of mints for her brother and Eimie. “Maybe these will help you stay awake. The mints have a stronger kick to it, so you’ll be full of energy for the time being.” She insisted.

Eimie looked up at Fynn. “I mean, I am down for anything, but if you feel tired and rather go rest, then let’s go home.” She seemed fine with Fynn’s choice.

“Eimie texted me and told me ya all drank coffee! You still feel sleepy after that?” Eika asked curiously.

“Well…” Eimie chuckled. “I work at a place where coffee is served, brewed, and grinded all day. My clothes smell like coffee all day and we drink it almost daily. I think we are now immune to the effects of coffee at this point!”

“I’m usually a regular over to where Eimie works at. I never get tired of drinking it.” He looks over to his sister and turned down the offer of mints.

“..Whatever. At least, I got what I came for. We’ll eat together at a later date. Right now, my treasure is going on my shelf at home.” Before Dawn could get ready to leave, she whispered in Fynn’s ear so the others won’t hear. “Once you’re fully rested, I’ll tell you the rest of this morning’s incident…” With that, Dawn is the first to leave with her “treasure”.

“…” Fynn stayed silent for a bit as Dawn left. Then, he turned his attention to Eimie. “Shall we go home, hun? We need to unpack first, anyway.”

“Yep, let’s go. Sorry sis, we need probably all day off to get our energy back. Sleeping in the train wasn’t that comfortable, to be honest. I need my bed…” Eimie apologized to Eika.

“That’s fine! How ‘bout I help ya unpack?” She proposed a new idea.

“We are good on our own…” Eimie stopped to think for a second. Eika had waited for them for over an hour already. “You know… Sure you can help me unpack, I guess.”

While Eika grinned and also got ready to follow, Eimie got close to Fynn to whisper: “I’ll make sure she doesn’t stay for long, don’t worry…!”

“Thanks..” Fynn nodded at Eimie. His fatigue is starting to take his toll on himself. Fynn turned his attention to Eika. Since she’ll be able to take them home by car.

“Well then, Eika. Lead the way.” He tried his best to smile at Eika in his drowzy state.

“Yeah! Let’s go! I’ll go ahead and take care of these!” Eika helped with some luggage and directed the tired squids over to a small car.

After getting all the luggage inside, Eimie and Fynn sat in the back seat, while Eika took care of taking them home.

“Looks like I missed quite a lot since I was gone. Now you drive?” Eimie asked, which Eika replied with a playful chuckle.

“I’ve known for years! It’s just that I don’t usually do it since I prefer walkin’ around. This is a rental because I’ve been movin’ stuff. I’ll tell ya when we are home, alrighty?” Eika explained. Eimie enjoyed the ride with Fynn.

Fynn stared out the window of the back passenger seat. Along the ride, he could see Deca Tower where the Great Zapfish is resting from here.

Even though he’s back in Inkopolis, he still gonna miss his home town. (“The sooner we get home, the better..”) He thought.

Eika took them home without any hassle. The streets were empty, with very little traffic to be seen. This made the ride back home even smoother.

Just a few blocks away from their home, Eika finally broke the silence. “Have ya guys heard the rumors? Apparently some wacky stuff happened near the coast. I didn’t get the details, but apparently it triggered a change in fashion and now there’s tons of squids trying new tentacle styles!”

Eimie just shrugged. “Haven’t heard a thing. I usually skip the news, soooooo… nope”

“What did you say..?” Fynn’s eyes lit up as Eika mentioned something near the coast. This is the perfect chance to gather a bit of intel.

“Tell me about those rumors. I’m a bit interested in hearing about it.” He leans closer to Eika. “What happened near the coast?”

“Oh sure! So some squids saw like a giant gray statue off in the horizon? A few even heard an incredibly loud screech comin’ from it, as if someone were screamin’ through a megaphone or something like that.” Eika shrugged.

“Did you hear or see anything?” Eimie asked curiously.

“Nope, I slept through it! It was really early in the mornin’. Woke up with your text, just when the rumors started spreadin’ through the square and plaza.” Eika answered. They were just a few minutes away from their home

“Can’t blame you for being a heavy sleeper.. Anyway, thank you for filling us in..” Fynn leans back to his seat. He seems a bit puzzled after listening.

“So it wasn’t just some prank… I better report this to Dawn later…” Fynn mumbled under his breath.

It didn’t take long for them to reach their destination. He can finally rest in his soft bed. “Finally home..” He felt relieved.

Eimie’s tentacles slightly lighted up at the first glimpse of their home.

“Wow, finally eh?” Eimie smiled wide at Fynn. “We did it!”

Eika parked in their building. “Alrighty! This is your stop for ya two! Let’s get your stuff upstairs.” Eika got out of the car and went straight for their luggage, helping to carry their belongings.

Fynn got out to grab his luggage with the a shopping bag that has Eimie’s yukata in it. He’ll be sure to keep it straightened up and clean for future events.

He made his way to the 2nd floor where they live in. Once he made it to his home, reached for his left pocket and grabbed the house key. “Finally, some sleep..” He said, unlocking and opening the door.

Eimie had made sure to keep the apartment nice and tidy before they left. As soon as they entered, the familiar setting of their apartment filled Eimie with joy.

“Cod. I missed here so much…” She followed Fynn inside and left some of their luggage next to the entrance.

Eika was happy to help them. “Alrighty, let’s get all your stuff in place, yeah!”

Eimie nodded and looked at Fynn “You go get some sleep. I’ll be there with you in a minute. Okay babe?”

“Just a moment.” Before he could oblige, Fynn checks up on his pet sea slug, Muffin.

It appears she’s currently sleeping, peacefully. As she woke up from her slumber, she was happy to reunite with his own.

Fynn carefully picked her up and smiles. “I’m finally home, Muffin.. I hope you’ve been behaving yourself while we’re gone..”

Muffin responds by crawling up to his shoulder. She purrs happily by nuzzling his neck. It does tickles his neck, a bit.

Eimie indicated Eika to follow her. Both girls saw as Fynn reunited with his pet.

Eika watched fascinated. "Didn't new this little guy lived with ya two!"

"There's so much joy in having someone that will always be glad to see you, no matter the time. Muffin instantly cheers us up!" Eimie explained.
