Cat Locks in Star Trek ‘Tribble’ Costume for Halloween
It’s not quite October yet, but Stanley, a local cat, has already decided on his costume.
“He’s a huge Star Trek fan, especially the original series from the ‘60s,” says Carol Salinger, a source familiar with the situation. “So he’s going trick-or-treating this year as a Tribble.”
The famous fictional aliens from the Shatner-led show made their first appearance in an episode titled “The Trouble With Tribbles” in 1967.
“They’re basically little balls of fluff,” explains Salinger. “The best part is, Stanley doesn’t even need to buy a costume. He’s just going to scrunch himself up into a little ball.”

Area Dog Fired from Security Job
A local dog was let go from his security guard position after just two weeks on the job, according to sources close to the situation. DRP Protection Services, an area security contractor, has staffed up recently after winning a contract to provide security for a large, suburban construction project earlier this year.
“Frankie was a good dog,” said another newly-hired member of the security team, who asked to be identified only by his last initial, M. “He had the look, but I don’t think he really had the disposition.”
M told The Fluffington Post that Frankie often goofed around at work.
“We’re supposed to be doing rounds and he’s over here getting belly rubs or chewing on his foot,” said M. “It was only a matter of time until he got canned.”
DRP could not be reached for comment, though a want ad for a security guard appeared on Craigslist late yesterday.

My Coffee with a Trump Supporter
I finally found a Trump supporter – this morning when I went to buy coffee. (I noticed a Trump bumper sticker on his car.)
“Hi,” I said. “Noticed your Trump bumper sticker.”
“Yup,” he said, a bit defensively.
“I hope you don’t mind my asking, but I’m curious. Why are you supporting him?”
“I know he’s a little bit much,” said the Trump supporter. “But he’s a successful businessman. And we need a successful businessman as president.”
“How do you know he’s a successful businessman?” I asked.
“Because he’s made a fortune.”
“Has he really?” I asked.
“Of course. Forbes magazine says he’s worth four and a half billion.”
“That doesn’t mean he’s been a success,” I said.
“In my book it does,” said the Trump supporter.
“You know, in 1976, when Trump was just starting his career, he said he was worth about $200 million,” I said. “Most of that was from his father.”
“That just proves my point,” said the Trump supporter. “He turned that $200 million into four and a half billion. Brilliant man.“
“But if he had just put that $200 million into an index fund and reinvested the dividends, he’d be worth twelve billion today,” I said.
The Trump supporter went silent.
“And he got about $850 million in tax subsidies, just in New York alone,” I said.
More silence.
“He’s not a businessman,” I said. “He’s a con man. "Hope you enjoy your coffee.”

Windows Phone: (almost) a year later
In November 2013 my wife's iPhone 4 was replaced by a Lumia 925 and shortly after, in December, I followed suit. Farewell to my iPhone 5 and a huge leap into a new eco system. Before this, I already knew the Windows Phone system, after having tested the first Lumia 800, which was still Windows Phone 7. Back then, I didn't think much of it. Nice, refreshing, but still too limited for real use.
Meh
Guess I might pick up blogging again?
Extensive report, must read, even if you're not a Pryor fan.
The site [VGLeaks](http://www.vgleaks.com/world-exclusive-durango-unveiled-2/) has supposedly released info on the next XBox specs. If you look at CPU and GPU specs, you'll notice they are both powerful enough to support 4K resolution and rendering. I predict that 2K/4K will be the new push in video and gaming, and that it will be here sooner than later. I can't wait!

Counting down to AuroraTweetup
It's just a little under three weeks until Aurora Tweetup in Nellim, Finland. About 20 people, of which at least 15 nerds will try to watch and capture the Aurora. I'll be using my Nikon 1 V1 set for the first time in these environments, so I'm looking forward to the resulting images. My goal is to shoot a timelapse for the dutch "star gazing days" ("Sterrenkijkdagen") in March. Apart from the Nikon, I'll be trying what the iPhone 5 is capable of. Same goal again, only this time shooting with the iPhone 5, Olloclip and Timelapse app. Should be a fun experiment, since the maximum exposure time of the iPhone is 1 second. ISO however can be up to 3200. We'll see how noisy that'll be. The only thing I wished for is that Nikon would send me a preproduction model of the 6.7-13mm ultra-wide zoomlens. I could use the extra millimeters on the wide end, but unfortunately release is scheduled for March. Hey Nikon, are you listening? I will write a review for you! Since it'll only be three full days, here's hoping for clear skies!
Interesting article on the troubles with crying in microgravity.
>You're going to be an interesting companion, Mr. Data. We know you're dealing in stolen ore. But I wanna talk about the assassination attempt on Lieutenant Worf. I guess it's better to be lucky than good. and attack the Romulans. For an android with no feelings, he sure managed to evoke them in others. What? We're not at all alike! They were just sucked into space. brilliant :-)
