“Books are in their right genre, nice. Looks like my work here is done.”
“Nice, you worked for hours here. And for that, I think we should go out for lunch.”
leonahastings:
“I’m even better in real life I’ll tell you that much. Now, get up. I’m bored.”
“But I was dreaming about winning unlimited food.” He mumbled while pushing himself off the couch. “How long was I asleep? Did I snore? Do I drool?”
marysxastorscott:
“It can’t be that bad. Come on Marcus, indulge me this once. Please? I could use a good laugh.”
He shrugged. “Sure, why not? So I was dreaming about me winning an award for Book of The Year but as I was in the middle of my speech, a person with a horse head interrupted me and took me. The rest gets crazy.”
danielblakeney:
“You are aware you’re drooling right?”
“You are aware that you always ruin my train of thoughts.” Marcus lifted himself off from his couch while groaning. “So, what did you want from me?”
itsvalerie-brooks:
She nodded “Well, you would think it would be the opposite. Parents moving to a small town and all. Did you move here to get inspired or?” she asked raising her eyebrows “Last time i saw you, you were writing poetry.”
“I know, ugh, I hate facing the expectations.” He shoved his hands in his pockets and perked up from the mention of his writing. “Oh right! I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Marcus, also known as that weird writer guy.”
marysxastorscott:
“Something? So mysterious. So vague.”
Marcus got up from his couch and rubbed at his eyes. “Well, if I said it, you would laugh. So I’m keeping that to myself.”
“I don’t wanna get up, I was in the middle of dreaming about something...”
itsvalerie-brooks:
“It was out of blue.” she chuckled. “Im fine, my parents have hard time understanding why i would move to ‘such a small town’ and ‘hold myself back like this’ and honestly i couldn’t care less if they understand or not.”
“I guess you can call that a random act of kindness.” He laughed along with her. “That's good to know, I’ve been through the same thing. My mom still doesn’t like me living here and my dad is biased about it.”

nataliasart:
“Good to know,” she said with a wink. “Oh!” She threw her hands up before grabbing a spoon out of one of her drawers, handing it to him. “I’m so sorry. Clearly my head is in other places.” She chuckled a bit, moving to sit at the counter with him. “Yes, you are. Like I said, I’ll need to borrow your recipes because I know a lot of people who’d want these.”
She pulled out the papers she had in a folder, sliding it over to him. “It’s not a problem! I happen to like showing people how to sign. And we’ll start slow, until you get the hang of everything.”
He took the spoon and dipped it in the mug. “Thanks! It’s totally fine too. We’ve all done this before.” Marcus stirred small cycles before taste testing it with the heated spoon. Not quite yet. He then rested the spoon it the mug and stirred for a couple seconds before stopping. “If I give you my recipes, you gotta teach me yours.”
Marcus set aside his still hot mug of tea to take the folder and opened it. Inside were a couple worksheets and tips to sign. There was even the sign language alphabet hidden in the mess of sheets. “Nice, just like a real teacher.” Closing the folder, he took the mug and blew it softly to cool it down.
itsvalerie-brooks:
“So i was on phone with my dad, i was shouting mostly, i hang up furiously and i was about to cry. I was sitting on a bench at the time and this old lady came by and hugged me, then kissed me on the cheek and told me “it’s all going to be alright sweetheart.” and then just left. I couldn’t even move because i was so surprised.” she laughed. “I love this town.”
Marcus smiled widely. “Really? God, I’ve never an interaction like that. But are you still okay with the phone call with your dad?”

nataliasart:
Natalia poured his tea into a mug before handing it to him, along with some half-and-half and sugar. “I don’t know how you take your tea, so this way, you can do it yourself.” She smiled at him before reaching over to grab a slice of brownie to try. The moment it touched her lips, she was in heaven. “Oh. These are so good. So, so good.”
Nodding, Natalia swallowed before smiling at him. “Yes, an introduction. You will learn how to sign the alphabet. I also printed them out so you can practice when you leave.”
He smiled at her as Natalia handed him the mug. Taking it in his hands, he put it down on the table to put his sugar in. “Well, for reference in the future, I like my tea slightly sweet, slightly strong.” Marcus took the sugar and put two small teaspoons into his mug. “You got a spoon that I can stir it with? That would be nice. And I told you the brownies were a plus. I’m the snack master.” He laughed while putting a hand to his chest.
“Also, I ca’t wait to sign. Really, so thank you for letting me into your home for you to teach me. I just love learning new things, especially new languages.”
devynsuttxn:
“You mean you won’t buy me flowers and cook for me when we’re married?” Devyn said dramatically while feigning an hurt expression. “I thought we were in love,” the country accent she took on was clearly horrible as she burst out laughing. “Good for you. Also, I think that’s much better. People are starting to get over romantic books. They’re all the same.”
He laughed along. The part of the romance novels and how they’re all the same was so true. “Yeah, it’s all about a girl falling for a guy who needs fixing. Like that’s totally original. Thanks, I’ll need some motivation and some coffee to keep me going.”
ariadaniels:
“Oh cool, what’s it about?”
“Still deciding what it’s gonna be about but I’m thinking it should be a mystery novel. I'm just thinking of lines for my story.”
rileyxmcdowell:
“Do you write a lot?”
“You should see my desk, full of poems and drafts yet to be published.”
connorxhawkins:
“That would probably be the worst. Could you imagine?” Connor laughed as he looked at the man in front of him. “What are you writing?”
Marcus laughed along with the man. “Yeah, just imagine hearing a voice out of no where. Probably in the clouds, just narrating your life. Oh, and I’m writing a novel. Yet to be named, but it’s about mystery.”
jakexlawson:
“You write for a living?”
Marcus nodded. “Yeah, I’ve been doing for years. How about you? What do you do?”
jxssedietrich:
“I don’t know. What are you trying to write?”
“I’m trying to write something mysterious. Probably mystery, horror, that stuff. Though I’ll probably scare myself when researching this, it’s worth a shot.”
