(Vampire AU) Marcus walked the streets of the city, silent and as calm as he liked. He had new prey. The searphim have spotted a vampire who needed to be eliminated, and Lila needed to claim another soul, as per the deal. And Marcus? Simply being able to find a vampire was fun to him. Plus... It was vampires that got him in this mess with Lila. Stalking the streets in silence, scarf around his face hiding his smug grin, sword hidden in a guitar case, his instincts tipped him off. He wasn't the only one on the prowl that night. Little did the hunter know that he was also being watched.

Pari was no stranger to people trying their luck with hunting her down, but the difference between herself and them was that she'd taken great pains to outlast them.

And this fool would be no exception. Smug bastard that he was, she thought to herself.

But for the moment, she wouldn't get complacent.

"Listen, I've been around since the mid eighteen hundreds. You don't live that long without being careful."

The voice seemed so close, but if he turned around, he'd learn that there was nothing there.

Clearly she couldn't be bothered to have any more hassle, so messing with his head was better in her mind.

"Although if you're fishing for compliments on your skill, I really couldn't give a shit about the fellow vampires you've taken out. They were probably part of the bigger covens and in all honesty, you're better off going for those. What's one old fart like me for your illustrious career, eh?"

She'd kept more than a safe distance, still managing to use her magic to seem so close and yet so far away.

"My only targets are those who have been shitty with people. They're the only people I take blood from because they damn well deserve it. But then again, you don't really get it."

Once again, she sounded within striking distance but was nowhere to be seen.

She's right, Lila. A vampire like that has power... Power that could be useful if she was alive...

Focus, hunter! She must be near! Keep talking!

"Stat padding, I guess. And of course, I get paid handsomely. But, how do I know that you "only kill the shitty ones"? Personally, I don't give a damn about how you feed. I get you were kind of dealt a shit hand, but when people are threatened, a Searph will knock on my door, give me the creature, location, and puts the gold in my hand. I just do it, because I got to eat, and I like to help. And, because I'm the best."

He smiled again as he continued to sense out where the vampire is. His magic is powerful, but he still difficult. But, he remained attentive as he continued to speak.

"Don't think I don't know what your doing. Either run or fight me, because... Elves really don't need to sleep, so I'll just wait until the rises if we're going to have this back and forth. Because I made a promise to complete this job, and I will either go home with another victory, or I just won't come home. It's up to you."

Lila as well, tried to sense out the vampire. But, upon finding her magical energy, she was surprised, and maybe even impressed, at how powerful she was.

Pari was taken off her feet by whatever he'd used, and while it didn't do anything in the way of damage, it pissed her off to absolutely no end.

She'd been blunt, but reasonable.

But if he was going to play that game, she would too.

"Pro-tip, you little upstart. The next time someone gives you advice, you damn well take it. Because that blade won't save you."

She ran, sprinting towards him like a woman utterly possessed. Letting out an ear splitting screech that would make anyone cover their ears. The idea was to throw him off guard as much as possible.

She made her advance, cackling after letting out that ear piercing noise before she disappeared right before his eyes.

All that could be heard was whispering, goading the young hunter into striking wildly.

"Oh, big bad hunter things he's hot shit! Come on! Come and get me!"

The sound vanished as quickly as it was heard, and yet the vampire was no where to be seen.

She'd given him a chance to walk away, but if he was going to be that way, she'd mess with his head.

Ooo, very big words from such a filthy creature... Going to let her just say that?

The demoness said as the hunter rolled his eyes, stanced perfectly, and sliced... At nothing. As soon as the slash seemingly made contact, the woman seemingly just disappeared into thin air, looking around as a voice taunted him and then faded away into the night.

"I admit... That trick is pretty cool."

Marcus said playfully, doing his best to maintain composure. He wouldn't bite on the bait. Too easy.

"You know, I've been doing this a long time... Since I was fourteen, and I've killed my fair share of vampires, but you are different. Most vampires like to stand and fight..."

What are you doing Marcus?! This is a Hunt, not conversation therapy!

Marcus simply smirks and tries to sense out the vampire, using his magic, and his instincts. Admittidly, there was something about her... Something he couldn't a finger on. Certainly her magical ability was to be praised, quarry for the Hunt or not.

She'd seen many like him in her lifetime, and had decimated them all. Although she didn't know why the Seraphim wanted her eradicated. In the grand scheme of the Vampire Covens, she was small time. Especially as she thought they were all puffed up and ridiculous.

"No. I actually don't know why you're here! I haven't done anything aside from having to feed once a week. Girl's gotta eat, you know?"

She said in a completely candid manner.

"Listen, you're better off going after someone who isn't acting on their own. There's tons of Covens, and they're a much bigger threat. So piss off and keep on walking. Because that's what I'm about to do. Good evening.."

Clearly she wasn't about to entertain him. He clearly also waffled too much.

"Pro-tip, madam."

The half elf quickly raises his hand, before thrusting it forward, sending the vampire back in a burst of red light, the people walking the streets all turning to look at the pair in stunned silence.

"Never start to walk away from a Hunter."

He quickly unsheathes his sword, pointing it towards the vampire as he approached her with a purpose, looking to end it quickly.

However, she'd keep on walking. It wasn't until after a moment she stopped.

She wasn't that thirsty for blood or much else at that point because she'd only need to get her blood when needed.

"You'll catch your death out here, pal. Better keep wrapped up.."

She called over her shoulder with a smug grin.

"Oh, I'm not worried about the cold, Miss... As for death? Eh. It's something that doesn't scare me like it scares others."

Marcus retored, turning around to greet the Vampire with a smile, smug as the day is long, looking at her up and down, slowly unzipping his "guitar", the glint of his sword reflecting in the moonlight.

"Wow... This is the target of the Seraphim? The scary and threatening vampire who angels deemed so dangerous? At any rate, you know why I'm here... And I know that you're not gonna make this easy. So, why don't we step away from these people and let this confrontation run its course."

His face, and his entire demenour, changed. The smugness disappeared, and all that remained was an intense focus. He stared at the vampire, never breaking eye contact for a moment. His right hand was now gripped to his blade, prepared to draw and cut her to bits of she dared to step forward.

"Is that fair?"

Marcus heard Lila, and continued to walk, before looking behind himself, seeing nothing. But he felt different. Uneasy.

Lila... I can't see them. I may have been spotted We might have to go for a different plan.

Marcus thinks, before crossing over the street, and heading into a nearby alley, preparing a stunning spell... And wait.

Pari on the other hand was still keeping a watchful eye on the somewhat over-confident hunter.

Was he perhaps tracking another?

She watched as he headed into the alleyway, although she too was on her guard. Deciding not to go down it, she walked past the alleyway and waited near the entrance.

Best not to take that chance, she thought to herself.

Not biting, huh? That's okay... It just makes this a bit more fun.

Marcus thinks to himself before exiting the alley. He was going to make a risky gambit. He knew that he had been spotted, and so... He was going to let himself get hunted. He pulled his scarf off of his mouth, loosing it slightly to make his neck more visible...

Marcus, be careful... Wouldn't want a repeat of last time, yeah?

He paused for a moment upon Lila's words. The same stabbing, the moment of the demon princess reaching out to a blood splattered hunter keeps looping in his head, before he continues to walk forth.

(So... I've been very inactive on this blig. I'm really, truely sorry for that. But, I've had zero motivation to post. I'm just waiting form myself to be in a better place mentally)

"Honestly... I've had thousands of nightmares... But this one when I was nineteen was the worst: I was in a dark room... I could barely see two feet in front of me, even with Elven eyes... And there was a pathway made of bones that I had to walk, a pathway that led to alters... On those alters, were my parents, Richard, my mentor, and my boyfriend at the time... Then someone, or something said that... I was the ones who got them there... It was all my fault... All of my love ones were screaming "Marcus, you couldn't save us..." Then, one by one I had to watch them die. I tried to stop, I tried to run and help them... But I couldn't move. It was like... I was paralyzed... I woke up in my hotel room, and Richard was at my bedside because I had startes crying in my sleep... Not a good night."

"That's.. really fucking rough. I mean it. I don't even know how to actually respond to this. I'm sorry.. truly."

"It was only a dream, Pari... But, sometimes... When I'm alone... Lila likes to replay the imagry from the dream... Like that fucking alter... This is the longest I've ever really talked about it."
