The IT horrors persist. I am getting pretty damn stressed out about it. Its like someone came in and unplugged everything. And now they are saying that they might not ever be able to get certain things running again. So I will be... indefinitely unable to do my job, then? Is that it?

Doomsday Trailer, Initial Thoughts

Literally just watched it. My gut reaction is that it looked better than I expected. I think my biggest concern is that this could be an uneven and disjointed movie. Marvel is panicking over diminishing returns and this movie borders on being thrown together. I don't think this film, or this version of this film, was ever THE PLAN.

But...idk, the trailer was pretty cool. I like that it was Thor-centric. We officially got to see Loki. Marvel has ABSOLUTELY been teasing a brother's reunion for years now. That's gonna happen. Other than that, I did like a clips we got to see, especially the X-Men-related ones. Some nice fight choreo. Also it LOOKS good. Like, it looks better and less cheap than recent Marvel movies.

I mean, yeah, they are definately selling this movie as, "Woah this bad guy is way worse than ever before. He's like super duper bad." And that's cliche, but I don't necessarily hate cliches. If it entertains me while it's being cliche, I'm fine with that--not in a turn off my brain kind of way but in a narratively plausable kind of way.

Nor is she a seductress in any kind of negative or manipulative sense - she has a mutual relationship with a powerful man who then breaks up with her, and afterwards she keeps protection against him in the form of evidence that the relationship existed. She HAS blackmail material, she even waves it at him threateningly because he treated her like shit, but she never even uses it.

Irene Adler is not a thief, femme fatale, or blackmailer. She's just a cool lady that wants to be left alone.

If your Sherlock Holmes adaptation has a character whose identifying qualities are that she is a seductive criminal in love with Holmes, you have created a character that is basically the literal opposite of Irene Adler and you should name her something else.

She's also -- and I cannot stress this enough -- from New Jersey. IMO this is the single most important detail missing from all the adaptations -- IRENE ADLER IS FROM NEW JERSEY.

Please just once in my life I would like to see this adapted faithfully it would be the funniest fucking thing ever.
