Finally, I was able to bring this fic to see the light of day!!
This is my first participation in the @sthbigbang. I've been eager to participate since last year, but I had missed the registrations. So, being accepted this year was like a dream come true. So, thank you for the opportunity that the project gave me to write with a ship that I LOVE and for challenging me!! This is the first time I've posted something about Shadonia, although it's a ship that I've loved since I was a kid. I wanted to write something focused especially on Shadow and develop things that had never been seen often (and fix some things too).
I would especially like to thank my beta @real-duck-bacon, for her patience and her help in making this fic reach its best version and thank you to @sunlitsparks for them constant support!! Our conversations helped me a lot to not give up!!

SUMMARY:
Shadow hasn't seen anyone in years. Determined to isolate himself from everyone so he doesn't get hurt, Rouge is the only one who always stays by his side. Until a strange invitation arrives at his house: an invitation to Sonic and Sally's wedding. Shadow still doesn't understand why the hedgehog cared so much about him, but Rouge convinces him to go (even though he doesn't want to). At the party, the hedgehog is shocked to realize how much time has passed and how different - those he had secretly called friends for a long time - were. Amidst the conflicting feelings he felt about the situation, Shadow meets Sonia, his rival's sister, with whom he shares a strange connection. In a revealing and intimate conversation, Shadow finds himself questioning how much he knows himself, how far he would go to protect the people he cares about. After all, what was more important? His happiness or his immortality?
EXCERPT:
"I like you!" His footsteps stopped abruptly. Her entire body froze. He had heard wrong, right? Shadow turned slowly, watching her with wide eyes across the distance between them. There was a lump in Sonia's throat, big enough to make her gasp. "What... are you saying?" The dark hedgehog's voice was tense, as he spoke slowly and forced a laugh. "I also... like your company. It's nice. On another occasion, the small compliment would have made her heart flutter and made her dizzy at the thought that this proud hedgehog cared about her in such a way. However, the palpable tension that quickly formed only brought even more anxiety to her heart. There was no turning back now. "That’s not what I’m talking about. " Sonia tried to keep her voice steady, as she analyzed him "I’m saying that I like you. Not just your company, but… in a romantic way." If there was one thing she learned from her older brother, in fact, it was how to deal with Shadow and how to say what she needed. Sincerity was always what attracted him to her and what built the trust between them, there was no better way than to be brutally honest and direct about it. She didn't want any misunderstandings, Sonia wanted him to understand what she was trying to say. And yet, she felt like she had made the wrong decision when she glimpsed the deep look of despair on his face. "You can't like me like that." Shadow had never looked so distraught and had never spoken with such urgency. His words confused her even more. She tried to get closer, taking a step forward, only to see him take a step back. Hurt filled his expression quickly and Sonia couldn't help but feel hurt by the way the agent was running away from her. "And why can't I?" she countered, frowning as she gestured at him, also feeling despair growing inside her. "I can't understand why you're always running away, why you're always pushing me away." "You don't understand."
