“Wait, really? Even on New Year’s Eve?” he questioned, genuinely surprised at the answer. It was clear she was driven and hard working, he may not know her well, but that had been clear from the onset that work was a big part of her life. He could appreciate that, heck, he was something of a workaholic too, but there was a limit, and he wouldn’t let life pass him by completely. But it was different now, he supposed. He wasn’t trying to find the love of his life now, he wasn’t looking for that someone special, he was a husband. Love was no longer something he could look for, but something he could only hope would grow. So he hadn’t gone out alone, he hadn’t spent the night with the crowds of people getting inebriated and yelling a countdown, he had spent the night with her, hoping to get to know her more, hoping that bringing in the new year with her would give some insight to the closed off woman he was now married to. “It’s alright, really, I’ve always enjoyed the concept of New Years more than the actual countdown,” he shrugged, picking up the glass with a small smile to her. “Thanks, I’ll go for whatever you want, or, well, whatever you don’t want I guess.”
“Even on New Years.” She replied shortly, shrugging slightly. It’s not like she’d ever had someone to share it with before - all any holidays ever did were remind her of her family that was back in Africa. She’d rather spend them with her work. “I’m personally not a fan of champagne, but I’ve got more than enough wine. You should have something you enjoy, don’t base your decision off of me.” Margot told him, having been trying for the past few days to be nicer than she normally was. It was exhausting, to be honest, and she reached for the bottle of red, pouring herself a generous glass before settling back against the cushions of her couch, pulling her knees up in front of her before taking a sip and letting out a contented breath. “So, um..” She started, not sure what to even talk about, but knowing she had to at least try to get to know the man sitting next to her. “What do you usually do for New Years?”
