Margo was born and raised on a ranch in Montana (very much Yellowstone vibes) where she lived with her mother, father, and older brother, James, who is 27. They also had some of the ranch hands live in a house on their property. This is not very important but just kinda sounds fun.

Margo is dairy free. Also not important, but fun!!!!!

She has always been the apple of her parents eye and never had to want for anything. She adored both her mother and father, and was thankful and happy with the life that they blessed her with. Margo has never had to work a day in her life, and she does not really need to work for the money, however, she does it as a way to make friends and meet new people. 

She got a job at Daisy Chains Flower Shop because of her love for being outdoors and the beauty of all things floral. She works more for something to do, and a way to make friends and meet people. Margo is enthralled with nature and the outdoors. On her ranch back home, she would spend her time horseback riding, hiking, swimming, and basking in the sun. She loves the outdoors but not in a weird granola way

Margo is such a sweet and bubbly gal. She genuinely wants to believe the best in everyone, however, that’s not always been the case. She has been burned a handful of times, which has caused her to be a little reserved in her interactions with people. Margo is very easy going and loves to have a good time. However, she has been fairly sheltered for the majority of her life, so being out in the real world is unsettling but also exciting and something unlike Margo has ever experienced before.

Her father just recently (about 6 months ago) got arrested and charged with embezzlement. It was not the best look for the Richards family or their ranch, and Margo was not enjoying all of the negative local press that came along with her fathers scandal. It was something that shook Margo to the core. However her mother’s side of the family has money as well so her family isn’t totally broke (some Nate Archibald vibes)!!! She thought the world of her father so the fact that he did this to her and her family made her question so much and has given her some daddy issues!!!!!!! 

Growing up she believed that ignorance is bliss and it is better to just busy yourself with something else, as opposed to facing your problems. So that is exactly what Margo has done her whole life. After the scandal broke, Margo packed her bags, called up an old friend (Leo), and got arrangements made for her to move to Costa. She said gbye family cannot deal with this!!!

This gal loves her a good fling. Something short and casual is all she really wants for the time being. She tries her best to never fall for anyone or start to develop any kind of feelings, because she knows nothing good ever lasts. She has been in one serious relationship but that is about all. She does believe in love and secretly wants it for herself someday, but one of her biggest fears is that she is not meant to find love.

She loved the rain. Maybe it wasn’t so much the rain but the presence of weather— rain falling in sheets, enough to ruin a picnic, breaking the endless string of perfect days. Just bright, clear, California sun in stretches that went on for weeks. It didn’t feel real, especially when compared to the mood swings of the coast she’d been born on, the passing of time marked by heat and cold, rain and snow. “Three, I think,” Len breathed, her legs crossing and uncrossing at the knee. “I had some family stuff going on top,” she echoed back, not willing to get into the path that had brought her to this idyllic place— how does one explain casually a Vegas wedding followed by an annulment, followed by a cross country move into her cousin’s house? It was better to remain vague. “No, I don’t think you’d know. It was a sudden thing, I’ve only been here about a year now.” She stood, stretching her legs. “So what do you get up to now? Any trouble?”

“You’ve been here for about a year? How are you liking it so far?” Margo asked, genuinely wondering what Len thought of this place, as it seemed so different from the environments that she had previously known her in. “I haven’t been here that long, only a few months. I finally got a big girl job though. I work over at the flower shop with Kit,” she shared, filling in the dark haired girl in front of her. Almost as a reflex, her arms came up across her chest, feeling slightly defensive when the topic of getting into trouble came up. Easing up a bit, she shook her head with a grin, “not as much trouble as we got into” The girl laughed as memories of their reckless past played through her mind, before the last and not so pleasant memory played through. “I’m sorry about all of that, Len. I really am. It wasn’t fair to you,” Margo’s voice was soft as she tried to apologize, knowing that it wouldn’t be enough, nor it would it really even matter after all of these years.

Such was the burden of small towns, particularly one where Leo could locate family, friends, lovers alike. But with all its residents out on one night, it was bound to make for some good tales. When he felt a body crash into his, Leo stopped short of seeing red, fist curled. “Hey,” he greeted the familiar blonde, a face he saw far too often in the comfort of her and Rory’s home. “Are you lost?” He dropped his solo cup, now robbed of its contents. “If you get me a drink to replace this one, I won’t hold grudges, I promise.” Leo followed her lead to the closest bar setup. It was crowded and (un)lucky for them, he was impatient. He pushed through the obstacles of bodies left to right, now dragging Margo along as vulgar words and utterances of annoyance were directed at them. “What’s your drink of choice? A Margo-rita?”

“A Margo-rita?” She questioned with a laugh, shaking her blonde locks softly as they approached one of the bars that had been set up around the venue. “Sure, why not?” Directing her order towards the bartender with a grin, “and he’ll have,” raising a brow over at the boy as she turned back towards Leo. Their drinks arrived promptly without much wait time at all, before the two moved out of the way of other eager partygoers in desperate need of a beverage. “To answer your question,” Margo began as they walked towards nowhere, “I wouldn’t go as far as saying I’m lost, however, I did lose Rory pretty much as soon as we got here.” She brought her cup up to her lips, letting her eyes wander around and observe the crowd that had congregated for the event. “What about you? Aren’t you supposed to be spinning tracks? Is that what it’s called?”

“Money’s not really an obstacle here, if I’m being plain.  Frankly,” he smiles, “The more opulent I can make this arrangement, the better.  I’d like this to be the kind of bouquet that’s so obscene you feel angry acknowledging the craftsmanship.”  Laurie’s hip leans against the counter as if they were old friends, glancing slyly at her chest in search of a name tag.  He’s sure he’s seen her before, this blonde, but the name doesn’t come until she announces.  “Margo,” he repeats softly, keen to know and smiling. “You know, Margo.  I agree. Something a bit less played is much more along the lines of this excursion.” He shakes the hand offered, his grip strong. “Laurie. You’ll remember me moving forward as the man with paltry flower knowledge.  I think the only one I could name you is an orchid.  And i doubt my intended is looking for an orchid bouquet. Unless….” he pauses, tilting his head to lean near. “Would that flower be an inconvenience to display?”

“It’s nice to meet you, Laurie,” she replied with a grin and a nod. “A bouquet of orchids?” Margo questioned raising her brow, looking around the shop trying to spot an orchid on display. “I don’t think it would necessarily be an inconvenience,” she began with a shrug of her shoulders, before strolling out from behind the counter and over towards where more of arrangements were placed around the room. “Wait just a second,” spinning around on her heels, she turned back to face the man she was assisting, “are you purposefully trying to find a bouquet that is an inconvenience for me to put together?” Crossing her arms as she inquired with a tilt of her head. “Well, I really do hate to share this with you, but you are, unfortunately, not the first person to come through those doors with a difficult floral order,” Margo shared, pacing back towards the counter to grab a notebook and a pen. “However, you can try to be the most troublesome of the day,” she shared optimistically with a grin, ready to write down his order. “Alright, we’ll start with orchids. What else would be a pain?” She asked, more to herself, gazing around the shop for a moment.

A flush crawls up her cheeks, seeping like blood under a door while it deepens on her features. Gabe is voracious, leaning against the counter to study her gaze, capture her attention with the fish hook curve that settles in the corner of his mouth. His lean figure is all but propped up by the front counter, elbows planted between a metal bucket that houses sunny tulips and a spray of lilac. While she, blonde and dainty, seems to be at home there, Gabe cannot help but wonder what it is that she sees when she looks through the green to see him. “That makes sense, I would have noticed you before.” His head cants, and their fingers brush when she plucks the large bloom from his hands. “Just that,” he said easily, “Unless your number is up for grabs, then I’ll take that as well.”

Remaining unmoved, with her hand rested on the counter, almost acting as a support to hold herself up. Her eyes continued to flash from his eyes, to the smile that crept onto his face, and then back down at her hands. Margo wanted to slap herself. In any other scenario, she would have been able to be effortlessly nonchalant and witty, however, when she opened her mouth to respond, after a few silent moments all that came out was, “my number?” Softly laughing, more at herself than anything, Margo nodded before grabbing a pen as she flipped one of the flower shops business cards over. Taking more time than necessary, she took great care in printing the numbers on the back of the card. “I’m Margo,” the blonde shared as she held up the piece of paper resting between her two fingers.

Losing Rory in the sea full of bodies, Margo seemed to have a hard time finding anyone that she even remotely recognized at the party. She decided to set her sights on getting a drink, having reached a slight roadblock as someone’s body was shoved into hers. Brushing herself off as she glanced up, “Leo,” Margo called out in a joyful tone, her hand grabbing ahold of his arm as she finally was able to place a friend in the crowd. “Thank goodness it’s just you,” relief dripping from her words. “What are, or I guess were you drinking?” Margo asked looking down at his cup that had fallen from his grasp, “let me get you a new one,” she offered, pulling him towards the bar.

An elbow held the door open as she stood to the side, allowing for the other patrons to leave before walking into the shop. She hadn’t minded the work that she did, but she was envious of Margo and the others who worked at Daisy Chain. Not remembering a time where she hadn’t left the store with a grin on her lips, the expression easily making an appearance now. Each bundle of flowers would come with a story, of who they would be given to, the occasion, how the customer would have wanted them to feel. Getting paid to listen to those stories felt like the greatest job of all. She waited till Margo was free before approaching the counter, offering her one of the cups. “One iced honey oat milk latte and then I ordered what you sent for Kit,” explained, passing off the carrier. “Are you almost done for the day? I thought we could stop somewhere for dinner. Maybe the Lunchbox? I heard that they brought back the Mac and Cheese truck and have been dreaming about it since – they’ve got vegan cheese options,” she quickly added. “And other trucks if we’re craving something else.”

“Oh, praise you,” Margo exclaimed, reaching forward to retrieve the coffee from her friend, “I was starting to hit that late afternoon crash. “I should be finished up here soon. Kit is closing up tonight, so once I finish this last bouquet, I am good to go.” The girl replied happily, brining up the plastic cup to her lips, enjoying the familiar taste of the cold beverage. “I love that you check if places have vegan cheese,” a smile taking over her features as she placed down her coffee on the counter, picking up the scissors to continue trimming the ends of the flowers. “You wouldn’t believe what happened today,” Margo began, spinning around with flowers in hand. “A guy came in and ordered two bouquets to be sent to two different ladies. And he had me write the same message on both cards!” She gasped, “can you believe that?” Shaking her bouncing locks with disappointment, as the bouquet was just about finished. Placing the final flower in the arrangement, Margo placed the flowers off to the side for pick up. “Alright let’s go,” Grabbing her bag, she linked her arm through her friends as she shouted bye to her boss. “What other food trucks do you think they’ll have today? I hope they have a good dessert truck. I swear those always have the best little treats.” Smiling as she peered over at the girl by her side.

Len hesitated before allowing herself to be folded into the hug, held by those rain soaked arms and laughing because of it. “You look drowned Mars.” She brushed a damp lock of hair that clung to the apple of Margo’s cheek aside, tucking it behind her ear in an act of affection. She was shocked at how much she had missed her, now seeing her before her wringing out her hair and water droplets beading on her skin— she could almost forget why they’d parted. Almost. The park was near abandoned now, quiet save for the steady trickle of rain above them on the roof, that gentle piano tapping melody. “Not that well,” she retorted but her smile was the closest thing to sunny, gesturing around them— not the state of weather, but the town, rain drenched and mud puddles forming, small and quaint. It was a far cry for the city she was born in, or the ones she’d conquered along the way. “Look where we are, fuckin’ Nowhere, USA. It’s been impossible to get into any real trouble. What’d you do to get exiled here?” The question is loaded, but she asked it so lightly, letting the words trip off her tongue as she studied her with those careful, jewel-like eyes.

She peaked out from under the shelter that they had found themselves waiting out the storm in, hoping to find some sunshine skies in the distance. This terrible weather must have been a fluke, and of course Margo had found herself in the middle of the downpour. Finally starting to dry off, she listened to Len’s unmistakable voice, “I had some family stuff going on,” She replied, shrugging as she looked away refusing to make eye contact with Len. “What has it been, two or three years?” She asked, eyeing the girl in front of her. Making note of everything that had changed, or rather hadn’t changed about her appearance. As she stood there it was almost as if she was taken back in time to their wild New York escapades. The pair had traipsed all over the city, finding themselves in a bit of trouble here in there. Which, unfortunately, had been the cause for their fall out. “What are you doing in Costa? Did I know you were living here?” Margo wondered aloud, snapping back into reality and focusing her attention back on her friend.

Boredom was a friend of the devils and, when Laurie got bored, he became swayed by pointless ideas.  In this case, it had to do with the largest, sliiiiiightly unwarranted bouquet.  He hadn’t been to Daisy’s since he was 15 trying desperately to impress his freshman tutor.  (The flowers had not yielded the desired results.) But he was older, wiser and his pockets were filled well enough to afford a little careless spending.  So he was sweet in approaching the florist, giving the young woman a half smile in greeting.

“Full disclosure, I have no damn business being in your lovely store but, I’ve really got nowhere else to go.” He leans his hip against the counter and smiles. “What sort of bouquet do you put together for a person who has no need for one.”

“Well if that’s the case, then I have a handful of questions for you,” Margo began, “How much are you wanting to spend? Do you have a special someone in mind for what kind of bouquet you’re thinking of?” She inquired, propping herself up on her elbows. “You could always do a big bouquet of roses,” making a face, the girl shook her heard with a displeased look on her face, “however, I think roses are a little drab and overdone these days. There are peonies, hydrangeas, baby’s breath, ranunculus, and my personal favorite tulips.” Margo explained, using her hands as she explained his options and her eyes trailed all over the store. “Now, I think the real question is do you have a favorite flower?” Bringing her attention back over to the man in front of her. “I’m Margo, by the way. I don’t think we’ve met before,” offering her hand out towards him with a warm smile.

He usually recognized Kit behind the counter of the flower shop, but as he passed by an unfamiliar face leaned against the surface, toying with some long stemmed sunflowers. A smile curved on her lips and because curiosity killed every cat, Vic drew inside. The bell over the door announced his entrance and he canted his head, reaching to pluck a peony from a bucket, the heavy head of white petals drooping like tired eyelids. “Do you ever get tired of being around flowers,” he asked idly, his accent curving around the syllables and drawing them out prettily before he crossed the distance between them, holding the bloom out to her. “Or can I get this one for you?”

“Hi, is there anything I can help you with?” Margo questioned, hearing the bell echo throughout the store. She lifted her gaze up from her work to see who was there and if she could offer them any assistance. As soon as she did, she could feel her heart rate rise and her knees go weak. Margo recognized the customer immediately to be Vic Hastings, the lead singer of King Hit, a band she was rather fond of. “I’m new here,” she stuttered out, forcing herself to act semi-normal, “so I’m not the best person to ask.” Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, Margo felt her cheeks burn as their color began to match a bouquet of red roses next to the desk. Watching him move closer and closer, she reached forward and took hold of the flower, “I don’t think I could ever turn down a peony, no matter how long I worked here,” Margo answered, wearing a soft smile before asking, “will that be all for you? Or is there something else I can help you find?”

The call’s contents had cut sharp the angles of features, the shrill voice on the other end still ringing in ears at the drop of her cadence, “lovely Margo, I need you to play model for me,” light bleeds as she turns the corner to the sight of her newfound coworker, a fondness for the other girl had been swift to blossom, “we have a bridezilla that wants flowers in her hair for her big day, but wants photos of all the options ahead of her wedding in a month. From three different angles,” her voice hitches an octave higher at the end, a parroted mock of the woman she’d just hung up on, “maybe after set up we can linger and watch. Even if she’s a total bitch, it’s still romantic, you know?”

As she finished an arrangement for an engagement party order, Margo stepped back and fondly admired her hard work with an accomplished grin. A soft laugh was released from the girl in response to hearing Kit’s words about the call she had just received. “Aren’t bridezillas are the best?” She mused with a shake of her head, propping herself up on her elbows as she leaned forward on the counter. Kit had become someone that Margo considered to be a friend over the short course of time she had been working at Daisy Chains, and had thoroughly enjoyed their work together. “Yeah, sure,” Margo nodded, “we should stick around. In the unfortunate case of a flower emergency, I’m sure everyone would be thrilled we are there. Those are very common, I’m sure.” Letting out a laugh before clasping her hands together, “Alright, what do we need to do first for our dear bride? Does she want the pictures today?” Margo inquired, grabbing a notepad and pen, ready to take a few notes before the pair got started on their newest assignment.

This close to Seattle, storms always seemed to find Crescent Harbour. Len longed for dry weather, it’d been nearly a year since she’d arrived at the town but still she found herself caught off guard by the sudden eruption— dark clouds closing over clear blue sky like heavy velvet curtains dropping over a stage front, and then the production would begin. People would run for shelter, holding newspapers or windbreakers over their heads, or wrestle with disobedient umbrellas and unruly children who longed for deep puddles and mud to squeeze between their fingers. She watched it from the covered band-stand in the park on this particular day, sipping on an iced coffee as she perched herself on the high back of a bench, legs crossed and feet dangling. The great domed roof of the stand was a pan drum, and she listened to the acoustic of rain drops being played upon it, inhaling petrichor, that musky earthiness of the weather. She could hear someone running in behind her, the heavy breaths as they stilled, finally safe. Len swivelled in her seat, the cup lifted and straw in her mouth as she took in who it was who joined her. Her lips spread into a smile. “Margo,” she greeted, “You could’ve drowned.”

It had been a couple of days since Margo had moved to Crescent Harbor and within that short time she had managed to slowly start the dreaded process of unpacking and had barely even explored the town that she now calls home. Deciding today was the perfect day to start, the girl gathered her belongings and set out to survey the lay of the land. She had grown up being fond of the outdoors so she was thrilled when she found herself happily strolling through the park. Before Margo even had the chance to fully enjoy her walk, it was almost as if within just a few minutes the blue sky had been replaced full of storm clouds that began to start emptying down on her. No umbrella, raincoat, or hood of any kind was a possession that she had brought along with her, so before she knew it her feet took off in a sprint seeking the nearest shelter they could find. 

Slowing down as she entered the covered area, Margo started to catch her breath as she began to wring out her now damp hair and wipe the rain water from her face. Margo’s eyes lit up upon seeing the company that she had found, “Len,” she replied, almost shocked for a split second to see the other girl, forgetting briefly that Len lived here. “It’s so good to see you.” Margo added, walking closer to her with open arms, giving her old friend a quick hug. Though Margo and Len had some not so great history, Margo couldn’t deny that she felt a sense of relief to see a familiar face in the unknown city. “How have you been?” She inquired as she continued the process of trying to get as much water off of her and her clothes as she possibly could.

ABOUT.

Margo is loosely based on a mix of Rachel Green from Friends and Lorelai Gilmore from Gilmore Girls. She is a bit of Rachel in the sense that she grew up privileged and has never had to work a day in her life. On the flip side, she is somewhat of a Loreali because although she has never had to work it doesn’t necessarily mean that she doesn’t want to or that she wants that kind of life for herself.

At the age of twenty-five, Margo is still unsure of what she wants for her life. She never really dreamt of being anything when she was growing up. It’s almost as if she didn’t know that people actually had dreams and went off to chase them. She attended college, as part of her parents plan, and got a degree in Business Administration. Her father had advised her that getting a degree in BA was not only smart, but also a safe move for Margo and something she could fall back on throughout the rest of her life. Again with her being loosely based on Loreali Gilmore, she has recently (within the past few years) grown fond of the idea of opening her own Inn. Right now, Margo has her first real job at Daisy Chains Flower Shop, along with her first real sense of responsibility and being an adult. She plans to do well at Daisy Chains, while also trying to figure out what exactly she will do with the rest of her life.

Her move to Crescent Harbor was a bit of a spur of the moment decision, but it was also something that was a long time coming. Being in Crescent Harbor is the first time that Margo has been on her own. From living on her own to making her own money, it is all brand new for her. She got a job at Daisy Chains Flower Shop because of her love for being outdoors and the beauty of all things floral. Back home in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Margo spend the majority of her time outdoors. She loves to hike, swim, bask in the sun and explore the beauty around her.

Margo is very easy going and loves to have a good time. However, she has been fairly sheltered for the majority of her life, so being out in the real world is unsettling but also exciting and something unlike Margo has ever experienced before. She is a sweet girl who genuinely wants to make good friends, however she can appear to be reserved and closed off until she gets to know someone a little bit better. Margo is very intentional about who she spends her time with, and does not give away her time very easily. She might almost be a little too naive about the real world, but she is determined to make it on her own and not let the fear of the unknown or brand new stop her.

Margo is a huge fan of a good fling. Something short and casual is all she really wants for the time being. She tries her best to never fall for anyone or start to develop any kind of feelings, because she knows nothing good ever lasts. She has been in one serious relationship that ended poorly on both sides. In addition to Margo’s commitment issues, she couldn’t say the L word to him and he ended up self sabotaging the relationship and cheated on her. That relationship has negatively impacted her and her romantic interests moving forward. It was a devastating situation for Margo and has been the cause of a lot of issues in her life. Not only that relationship but also from the marriage of her parents that she had been a witness to her whole life. Margo had an awful feeling that her parents never really were in love with each other, but they got married because that’s what was expected from them. She knew that no matter what she never wanted that to be her.
