River gave the boy an odd look. “You smell like my brother.” She said matter-of-factly.

Damian laughed a little. “You.. are..?”

"River. My brother is Cherub."

"You've lived in the ocean?" Her eyes widened. "Are you a mermaid?"

“What?” he asked. “She was hot, I’m not gonna not give her my number..”

River gave the boy an odd look. "You smell like my brother." She said matter-of-factly.

“I was thinking about the ocean, and then I put cups on my ears, and it sounds like the ocean.”

“That’s odd. So many things are odd here.” She sighed. “Are there any other rules like this?”

"There's..special food for the morning?" River frowned deeply. "Why? What's the difference between morning food and afternoon food?"

"Oh. Well, I don't have many classes. I can't read or do any math yet. So I come here to help Lydia, and I also play with the babies at the.. uh.. the baby school?"

“Well, the doctor says im doing just fine so I think that means I get to leave soon”

River smiled. "That's good. Why are you here?"

“Morning River, how are we this morning? Lively I hope.” Seb smiled softly. @riverpedersen

River beamed, happy to be getting attention from her favourite teacher. "Good morning, Mr Guzman. I'm fine. How are you?"

“Do you want me to get a teacher?” River asked softly, eyes wide. “I think you need to see a doctor.”

“No.” he shook his head and laid on the grass on his side.

“Cherub, you’re scaring me.” She frowned, leaning down next him.

“But he’s a really good teacher.” River was confused. She wasn’t sure why Cherub was so upset. “What’s wrong?”

He had to calm down, he didn’t know what to do or how to convince her. He just..had to let it go. “Nothing..I’m really tired…” he tucked his head between his legs and closed his eyes for a second.

River frowned. “Ms Votrya? She’s scary. I’m in Mr Guzman’s class. I like him, though. He’s nice.”
