He’d encouraged her to be as harsh with him as she was every staff member, stopping any potential nepotism before it began. That, however, did nothing to quell his worries. ❛ F-f-fine! It’s fine!      there’s a calmness about her mother that is almost terrifying. was her mother cruel? of course not. yet somehow the redhead has reverted back to pre-pubescent days.  ❛❛ i don’t know. i guess i just decided i didn’t like it. i mean, it took maybe three years for me to figure it out. but, hey, better late than never, right mom? ❜❜ eyes meet the ground before a voice, no louder than the squeak of a mouse exists parted lips.  ❛❛ are you mad? ❜❜

she’s always though herself to be a cool mom ━ she’s incredibly calm, nearly 99% of the time. ❛ that’s a decent amount of money to spend on figuring it out, sloane. ❜ she’s still calm ━ she’s only slightly disappointed. She had high hopes for her children’s futures ━ but of course, not everyone is made for college. ❛ mad ?? sweetheart, of course i’m not mad. ❜

      it wasn’t that sloane didn’t love her mother ( she did ) it was just that, well, she enjoyed her own company. her own person.  ❛❛ i.. uh.. ❜❜ it was a conversation yet to be had.  ❛❛ i dropped out. got an internship at the gazette. ❜❜ eyes don’t meet that of her mother’s, simply out of fear that the mayor’s daughter was, well, a fuck up. 

she thinks for a moment, eyes roving her daughter’s face. ❛ university isn’t for everyone, ❜ kristine says calmly. she gestures for sloane to sit, seating herself in the chair next to the one she offers her daughter ━ not the one behind her desk. ❛ was there a particular reason, dear ?? ❜
