Teddy fidgeted in his seat -- he had no REASON to be nervous around Kristine as his aunt, but as his boss: he was terrified. He’d encouraged her to be as harsh with him as she was every staff member, stopping any potential nepotism before it began. That, however, did nothing to quell his worries. ❛ F-f-fine! It’s fine! I mean, it’s ... it’s great. The internship is great! But -- I’m --- I’m, uh, fine with it all. ❜

if there’s one thing that brings down pauline kisch’s confidence, it’s rejection. she’s a pretty girl, her mother assured her —- and that’s all she really needed. so doe eyes stare back at the other, commenting the withdrawal of fingers with a simple huff. but pauline wouldn’t be herself if she wasn’t going to help her friend break out of his shell. QUICKLY, arms are wrapped around a taller figure. ❝ aw, teddy! feels nice, doesn’t it. now imagine hugging someone you actually like like. just keep on doing that. ❞
He was surprised by the sudden embrace, but he begrudgingly hugged the girl before him back --- it had nothing to do with disregarding her SPECIFICALLY, but even if Pauline was on the list of those he was comfortable with accepting affection from ( his mother, Pauline, Link ) it still, after a long while of living in Sheffield, felt odd to be so close to someone else when he’d spent most of his life being far, far away. ❛ I do like you, ❜ He reassured her. ❛ You’re --- my ... my friend. ❜ He fought the urge to unlock from the embrace, but he stayed close to her in order to prove his point, awkwardly patting her on the back.

Grocery bags meet the kitchen counter with a muffled thump, Peggy not bothering to secure their position before returning gaze to her son. Hands were placed on each side of younger features, softly pinching at full cheeks. ❛ And leave my FAVORITE son behind ? Never. ❜ Sentence ended with a smack of lips against Teddy’s forehead, and she went back for newly bought groceries. ❛ Have some FAITH in your brother ! He LOVES you. Not as much as me, of course, but … almost. ❜

One of the downsides of having a child the age of FOUR ? Constant birthday celebrations; forcing Peggy to hit the toy stores in Hartford more often than she’d like. It all looked the same. And, so did the kids. Though she’d never speak the ladder out loud. Struggling to keep the oversized box in her arms & simultaneously close the car door, she threw a glance in the direction of her eldest. ❛ OH, don’t you worry about me ! I’ll just do all of this by myself … Might even carry the groceries in with my teeth while I’m at it. O’Malley did compliment my brushing last check up … From now on, scratch mum–– ❜ The last word spoken in a poor English accent. ❛ –– just call me the family mule ! ❜
His perch on the steps of the Larsen home were quickly abandoned, book lying on the grass with dog eared pages separated by blades of grass. A clumsy run towards his mother was finally completed as hands scooped under the gift, pulling it away from her to balance it precariously in his own arms. ❛ Sorry! SORRY. K-kind of wrapped up in Stephen King, fits Sheffield, though, huh? ❜ It was a relief to to talk to his mother, the tight ball of anxiety rising in his throat unwinding in conversation with her instead of rising up like with any other. As he moved towards the door again, he turned his neck to try and look back at his mother, waiting for her to follow.
