Run for Me // Yev & Margot
margot-bishop:
Margot had to stop herself from developing an attitude. She needed the money, she needed it bad. “Look at me,” she spoke cooly and calm, “I will not let you down. I promise, Mr…?”Seeing as the man never gave his name she couldn’t address him properly. She turned back to the screaming kettle, pouring his mug water and adding a tea bag. “I only have chamomile,” her perfectly painted fingers passed him the ceramic mug, “There are three dealers and many, many clients willing to buy. I work at the most prestigious country club in New York City. This shan’t go wrong.”
Yevgeni does look her up and down once more before speaking. “Vasiliev.” He states simply. Most of his coworkers and employees called him Mr.V if they had a hard time pronouncing his name. It was odd but he got use to how Americans never really tried to prounounce “hard names”. He looks down at the mug she offers and takes it quietly.
“Notoriety can be good or bad. Lets hope that it isn’t bad in this case.” He brings the mug up to his lips to sip on the freshly made tea. “Yes, but the police are also cracking down on smuggling. While there are dirty cops, not all of them are willing to protect those who are bringing in contraband.” He places the mug down and sniffles a little. “I trust that if you are in need of any assistance, you’ll reach out?” He digs into his jacket pocket and produces his business card. Well, his day time business card. “I’m available most hours.”
Margot nodded when he recited his name and explained their struggle. It was hard to pronounce but she would fall in to place eventually. Her heart pattered like the rain on a sill, inconsistent and hard.
“I just really need the money,” she smiled sadly, holding the business card close to her. It was something odd to admit, seeing as her house was glorious, her clothes fashionable, but if you took a gander into her eyes you’d see someone broken.
“I appreciate it, Mr. Vasiliev. I’ll give you a call if I need help, hopefully I won’t.”
