Even over the phone
His dad was doing a murderous stare
Gideon told everything and he rode away from town. He identified where he is but hes trying to find a good place to stay no luck
Dad knowing the city where he is rn and thankfully, the dad knows a rest house there
"Hide there for awhile when i make this problem easier"
also his father doesn't stop controlling Gideon after Gideon leaves.
Instead he says, essentially,
"You may build your own empire. It will still feed mine."
Because a music empire benefits from a tech company
That's exactly the sort of arrangement an experienced businessman would make.
To Gideon, it feels like freedom.
To his father, it's simply another investment.
If Gideon is a boss battle
His dad definitely much bigger than him
It's not cartoonishly controlling.
It's business.
From the father's perspective:
"Good. You don't want to inherit my company? Build your own. A music label still needs servers, software, distribution, communications infrastructure, consumer electronics, licensing, analytics... you're still creating demand for my industry."
To Gideon, becoming independent felt like
escaping.
To his father...
"Excellent diversification."
The other thing I enjoyed is how it subtly recontextualized why Gideon becomes the way he is.
When Gideon says things like:
"Do you even have a choice?"
or calmly blackmails the twins...
...it sounds suspiciously like someone who grew up listening to negotiations conducted by an executive father.
He's copying the cadence more than the morality.
Even the scene where police arrive at the office:
"Do you have a warrant?... Then do not waste my time."
doesn't read like someone trying to intimidate police.
It reads like someone who knows exactly where the legal boundaries are.
That's much more believable for the CEO of a major tech company than someone shouting or throwing his weight around.
Then there's the ironic payoff.
Adult Gideon finally reaches a point where he can scream:
"I CAN BUY AND SELL YOU, OLD MAN!"
...and his father just answers:
"...Fair enough."
That response says so much.
He doesn't get angry.
He doesn't feel threatened.
He just shrugs because Gideon proving himself financially is almost what he expected all along.
In a weird way, Gideon finally earned the right to yell at him.
And I think that's where the tragedy lands.
Gideon spends his whole life trying to become someone powerful enough that his father can't control him anymore.
By the time he succeeds...
he realizes he became successful using many of the same habits his father taught him.
Not because he wanted to become his father—but because that's the only model of power he ever grew up with.
That creates a much more layered antagonist than someone who's simply "evil because of bad parenting." Instead, he's someone who escaped one empire only to unknowingly build another in its image.
One thing I'd keep in mind is avoiding making everything trace back to the twins.
For example, I think Gideon's obsession with Ramona still works best if it's primarily about Gideon's own need for control and possession. The twins can be one factor—perhaps they intensify his competitiveness or become another reason he fixates on "winning"—but Ramona shouldn't feel like she's merely a proxy in Gideon's rivalry with them.
Let her still matter as an individual in that equation cuz shes a plot device for Gideons plot but also has a mind of her own
Azulon is messed up
Fym he favored Iroh to inherit the throne so much
That when Ozai asked him that he could take the throne himself and rule better instead of Iroh
Azulon says "in one condition, sacrifice one of your children for speaking such a thing when your brother Iroh is still mourning over his son. So you can feel what it like to lose a child"
Thing is Ozai dgaf about his kids
Hed gladly do it for the throne
Fucked up if you think about how Azulon is for Ozai to be like that

Its kind of confusing if he already had a peaceful countenance before Lu Tens death or not

But somehow Iroh turned out as Azulons kid whos very full of contradictions throughout his life being a general in Fire Nation
Losing Lu Ten didn't create empathy out of nowhere.
It probably forced him to question beliefs he'd never questioned before.
The moment you realize as soon as Zuko was banished, Azula would have Ozai's almost undivided attention. And from how she greeted Ty Lee and Mai it sounds like it's been a few years since she's seen them. She had no one for at minimum three years. Think about that.
A lot can happen in three years.
I think this is reading a lot into very little. Azula greeting Mai and Ty Lee after not seeing them doesn't automatically mean she had no one for three years. We simply don't know what their contact was like during that period.
We know Ozai favored Azula, but favoritism doesn't automatically equal constant abuse, nor does it prove she was completely isolated. The series never says she was alone for years or that Zuko's banishment suddenly made Ozai's attention unbearable.
Azula absolutely has issues, but it's okay to acknowledge that without inventing extra suffering the show never establishes. Her canon is already tragic enough.
She might have spent those years immersed in royal duties, advanced training, and preparing as Ozai's heir in case Zuko never returned. That's a reasonable possibility too. The point is, neither interpretation is confirmed by the show.

The Polar Tribes naturally developed a martial art inspired by the qualities of their environment:

conserving energy
Tai chi fits frozen water beautifully.
A tropical Austronesian Water Tribe would have a completely different relationship with water.
Water isn't something dangerous that surrounds them.
It's where they spend half their lives.
They're diving.
Fishing.
Surfing.
Sailing.
Playing.
So I don't think tai chi would evolve there.
I think their bending would borrow from several Oceanic movement traditions rather than one martial art.
For example:
Hula and similar Polynesian dances for fluid torso, arm, and storytelling motions.
Outrigger canoeing for powerful rotational movement through the core.
Surfing for balance, weight shifts, and reading moving water.
Freediving for breath control and calmness underwater.
That would make their bending look lighter and more three-dimensional.
Polar bending often feels like:
Push. Redirect. Pull.
My tropical tribe might feel like:
Spiral. Roll. Circle. Dive.
They'd rarely stand still.
Even their footing might resemble someone constantly adjusting to a moving canoe.
And their techniques for the tides and harsh winds in typhoons
Thet need their stances rooted on the ground
Defensive forms
It resembles hakas
The storm forms would be where the haka influence appears.
Low stance.
Feet planted.
Powerful stomps.
Strong vocal breathing.
Rhythmic group timing.
Not because they're intimidating an enemy—
because they're anchoring themselves against nature.
It's less "battle dance" and more "the entire community becoming one rooted body against the wind."
Its not their typical bending style its specialized only when the island needs defense against natural disasters
They can create mini tsunamis if they want to
It was used back then in sea warfare against foreign powers
Reason why they were safe during the Fire Nation
Because thet had the upper hand being waterbenders in a seabound island
They wouldn't necessarily freeze ships.

Because its swimmable , it nurtures an ecosystem in this type of environment
They snorkel and dive
They play in the shores
In the poles nobody does that
Because the waters are cold, murky and harsh
They even capable of holding their breath very long from their ancestors snorkeling
They have this technique
They create a water bubble
Its hollow
Consist of a thin sheet of moving water in the form of a bubble
It helps keep out water that way when youre underwater
They use it like a fishbowl helmet
Its a technique usually only trained benders can do
But if there were tropical water tribe
That means the fighting inspiration wont be tai chi

Tbh i like the idea it would resemble hula dancing or maybe also some form of balancing, leg and hip control from how much they surf and canoe
The Polar Tribes naturally developed a martial art inspired by the qualities of their environment:

patient
conserving energy
Tai chi fits frozen water beautifully.
A tropical Austronesian Water Tribe would have a completely different relationship with water.
Water isn't something dangerous that surrounds them.
It's where they spend half their lives.
They're diving.
Fishing.
Surfing.
Sailing.
Playing.
So I don't think tai chi would evolve there.
I think their bending would borrow from several Oceanic movement traditions rather than one martial art.
For example:
Hula and similar Polynesian dances for fluid torso, arm, and storytelling motions.
Outrigger canoeing for powerful rotational movement through the core.
Surfing for balance, weight shifts, and reading moving water.
Freediving for breath control and calmness underwater.
That would make their bending look lighter and more three-dimensional.
Polar bending often feels like:
Push. Redirect. Pull.
My tropical tribe might feel like:
Spiral. Roll. Circle. Dive.
They'd rarely stand still.
Even their footing might resemble someone constantly adjusting to a moving canoe.
And their techniques for the tides and harsh winds in typhoons
Thet need their stances rooted on the ground
Defensive forms
It resembles hakas
The storm forms would be where the haka influence appears.
Low stance.
Feet planted.
Powerful stomps.
Strong vocal breathing.
Rhythmic group timing.
Not because they're intimidating an enemy—

It's less "battle dance" and more "the entire community becoming one rooted body against the wind."
Its not their typical bending style its specialized only when the island needs defense against natural disasters
They can create mini tsunamis if they want to
It was used back then in sea warfare against foreign powers
Reason why they were safe during the Fire Nation
Because thet had the upper hand being waterbenders in a seabound island
They wouldn't necessarily freeze ships.
They'd strand them.
They'd create opposing currents.
Hide vessels inside mist between islands.

Also the reason they cant be easily found?

That theres a water tribe thats within tropical geography
Water is the element of adaptability afterall
And in a way the standard polar tribes and islanders have some traits they share
Community oriented and enduring

Quit viewing her ONLY as a victim of her circumstances. Shes more than that
Ozai rewarded ruthlessness, ambition, and perfectionism. He didn't have to micromanage every decision Azula made. By the time the series begins, she's internalized many of those values. There are moments where she clearly improvises, strategizes, and chooses methods that aren't explicitly ordered by Ozai.
She isnt a puppet
Sure Azula stans defend her against basic haters who call her "evil" or the same overused simplistic argument , and the other side says shes just controlled by the people around and just a girl who wanted love from her mother
but not once did i hear an ACTUAL criticism about Azula in warfare that had peoples heads scratching.
And come to agreement that yeah sure shes complicated, shes done things and sit with the fact shes neither both evil or even good.
This girls got issues we can agree with that. But her defenders turn a blind eye or avoid discussing about her actions and blame it on anyone around her.
People forget Azula is a character thats meant to be uncomfortable. You dont just fluff it all up and say its all completely Zuko, Iroh, Ursas fault and end the discussion
Comes even so far to go anti-any media and anti-writers of the show rather than work around the canon yourself. Just cuz they didnt write your fave how you like it. Might be reasonable if the writing is inconsistent but if you're mostly projecting on your fave. Chances are youre simply micromanaging the creators canon narrative. Instead of making your fave narratively make sense you say "they deserve better than this" and change their arc that strays away the point of their growth.
Ill allow Azula arc rewrites if its for the sake of fitting her very core narrative for the show and not just a happily ever after. Cuz she also got alot to learn herself
I can talk how firebending is useful in military operations for days especially when they use it to signal ships. Yknow those signal flares. Fire nation learnt a technique that creates a fireball that resembles how a comet travels but upwards
And spreads light when it disperses at its maximum height

Instead of:

it's more like:
Signal: "Contain the energy. Let it rise. Then allow it to bloom."
Almost like launching a lantern instead of throwing a grenade.

The bender doesn't generate a huge explosive blast. Instead, they produce a compact, stable sphere of fire with a carefully controlled spin and pressure. A different breathing rhythm keeps it coherent as it rises.
A normal combat fireball is designed to:
travel fast,
hit a target,
dissipate on impact.
A signal flare is designed to:
climb almost straight upward,
remain intact long enough to reach altitude,
bloom into a bright burst that can be seen for kilometers.
That would explain why an ordinary fire blast can't substitute for it. The intent and technique are completely different
