pardon if this is a really obvious question or has been answered before, but what are the characters used in morinaga and souichi’s names and what do they mean? (or anybody else that seems interesting to you lol.) and another thanks for the translations~ ^w^
I've never done it but they're names aren't that interesting? Morinaga's is the most interesting just because she named him after a candy company lol
Morinaga Tetsuhiro 森永哲博
Morinaga means "long forest" or a forest that is spread very wide. Though the reason that Takanaga chose Morinaga is because she wanted an excuse to call a character "Angel" and the mascot for the Morinaga candy company is an angel so that's why Hiroto calls him angel.
Tetsuhiro means a very wise person. Both of the kanji of meanings of being smart.
The hiro part also gives the feeling of being reliable and trustworthy.
Tatsumi Souichi 巽宗一
Tatsumi means south east.
For Souichi the name means family is very important. People tend to use the kanji for 1 (ichi) in names of first born children so that's probably part of why they chose it. The first kanji is the same kanji as in his father's name.
Soujin 宗仁
Soujin's name uses the same sou kanji from Souichi so it's also means family, but the jin part means benevolence or consideration. So more like familial love.
Hana 巴奈
His mother's name is Hana spelled 巴奈. They explained in the story that they gave one of each of her kanji to Tomoe and Kanako but I'm pretty sure Takanaga reverse engineered that since she didn't name Hana until after Tomoe and Kanako already existed lol. The first kanji is the same as tomoe and the second kanji used in names means beautiful like a flower.
Tomoe 巴
Tomoe are heraldic designs usually made with two or more comma figures. These are examples of Tomoe:
it can be a male or female name but it's most famous for being the name of Tomoe Gozen who was a female samurai (probably just fictional). So the name is known for being beautiful and strong willed.
i think it's important to acknowledge that the reason why mastercard/visa has such a stranglehold on american society is because cash is not the main form of payment in the usa. the predominance of card has effectively privatized currency
in japan, one of the reasons why dlsite and other similar websites are able to just remove visa as a payment option instead of changing any of their merchandise (aside from the fact that visa doesn't have a monopoly here) is because cash payments for online transactions remain an option. even if you don't have a jcb credit card or paypay or whatever, you can still pay for your online purchases using cash by taking your barcode to a convenience store, and you can do this for essentially every online vendor, meaning credit card companies can't just impose their moral judgments on your purchases with much repercussion
This was intentionally manufactured by Facebook. Facebook implemented it’s “accountability culture” starting with its rule about only using your real name and photo on its service and encouraging you to disclose other information in your profile, and from there it just got normalized. It was entirely to gather data for advertising purposes, but now we associate that level of openness with “accountability”. Entire generations are now being raised with this as the norm. Privacy is no longer a priority, or even really seen as an option.
This is to your detriment. Your privacy protects you from predators of all kinds. You really should be guarding it carefully. Disclose what you feel is important on a case by case basis, but even your mental health status and beliefs are exploitable by big business and small-time bullies and abusers alike.
Even if you’re not overly fussed about what people know about you, just understand that not everyone has the luxury of feeling the same. Some people have stalkers and abusers they’re trying to evade, or don’t want to attract new abusers into their lives by being that vulnerable and open again. Some people have extreme social anxiety. Some people are protecting other people in their lives. Some people just don’t want their grandmothers to find their smutfics. Some people are Internet privacy advocates who keep their details private as a political statement and as a matter of principle.
You are not entitled to anyone’s information, and you do not owe anyone yours. You are allowed to just be an anonymous username until you feel safe to disclose more.
This is a repost because I just found out some stuff that I think need to be said about the song I'm discussing here. It was one of the cut songs that was leaked from Jorge's Patreon. I wasn't aware that it was a leak and thought it was just from his old Epic: The Musical account but, now I know!
So, I suggest if you wanna listen to the song, using this video to listen to it. This was given the go ahead to be made by the Ryan Donaldson* and provides commentary and edits it so the songs aren't just being reposted when it was payed content.
In Vain is my favourite cut song and it's a shame it's not official but, it makes sense why it was cut. Get in the Water fits the final plot of Epic a bit better.
But, I think parts of it can still fit in canon. Key word: parts. This song was supposed to be where Get in the Water was. So, the second half of the song where he talks about killing Odysseus can't fit into Epic canon. The way I see it, at least.
But, a lot of Poseidon's lyrics are very personal and I think they can work really well if they're repurposed as an aftermath to 600th Strike.
My proposal is that he'd be singing this to himself after a talk with Polyphemus. It's important Poseidon is alone for this song.
He isn't going to share this personal stuff with anyone. I think this song would work great as a solo where he's losing his mind after he's lost.
Ok, here's me rambling about the lyrics now :D
I mean these are just the perfect lyrics for how Poseidon would feel after 600th Strike. I don't think I'd need to go into detail but, I will.
He's talking about how Odysseus ruined him and took away his ruthlessness. I think, after he got stabbed, Poseidon saying 'I was a ruthless God' is very powerful.
It can be interpreted that Odysseus belittled Poseidon's ruthlessness - by torturing him - but, also challenged his Godhood in a way. Just something to think about.
This part is just Poseidon asking himself questions and answering them. It feels like he's going crazy. He'd start by justifying himself, then acknowledge that he was beaten, then establish what he should've done as a god. But, he failed.
@cloverr-reblogs brought up a good point that Poseidon here sees himself as a monster for being outsmarted and not being able to avenge Polyphemus. That's very interesting and adds some nuance to his character.
The repetition of 'In vain, In vain' adds to the idea that he's going crazy after a loss.
I just really like this part. Having Poseidon focus on his son here - instead of his own pride - shows what's important to him. In Get in the Water, he's talking about his pride. He couldn't go letting Odysseus walk because of what the world would think.
But, now he's alone, and what matters is his son. He's not over here trying to scare a mortal but, singing to himself about his son's suffering and how he failed to 'make things right.'
I think showing his focus on Polyphemus makes Poseidon's character a better mirror to Odysseus. Despite everything, they're both fathers and that's one of the core aspects of both their characters.
The 'eight long years' doesn't make sense in the scenario I'm presenting. So, ignore that please.
Anyways, my favourite thing about that song is the idea that Polyphemus hates Poseidon for failing in stopping Odysseus. That's such an interesting and tragic idea.
If this was something he was singing about after a scene with Polyphemus - post 600th strike - Poseidon would've lost everything. His pride and his love. He has nothing anymore.
He says here that Polyphemus was the 'one thing he loved' and now, that's gone. Polyphemus hating him would be the worst thing that can happen to him.
His son doesn't love him anymore.
I think it's interesting he says Polyphemus was his the one thing he loved. The idea that he's much closer to this kid of his than any other family make sense when you consider how caught up he became in killing Odysseus.
If the end lyrics were rewritten to be Poseidon falling into a crazed madness or depression, we could have the most awesome song for an antagonist's fall from grace.
Everything he did was in vain.
I would say more but, I think I'll save that for another day. Feel free to discuss this with me. I think it's super interesting.
*PROOF BELOW
I do hope the song will be released officially some day though. I really want to make an animatic for it.
First time posting in this Tumblr but well-. my Poseidon design but within no colors BC it's later tho. I'll be next Zeus design:>, I hope this will be fine or I'll just need to add something?...... Idk-

I did this because to the storm when Jorge and the cast showed up in Ithaca. And a little Odysseus reincarnation AU? Why not have some fun with it, right? (Aguante el AU de reencarnación, es lo mejor.)
