Good morning Sassenachs and Highlanders! Saw this on threads (fan blog) included in the other poses we are familiar with from LA Times. I’m no expert but asking you folks, is this real or AI?
3 different AIs
1) **No, this photo does not appear to be AI-generated.** It looks like a real professional photograph (likely a stock photo).
### Why I believe it's real:
- **Anatomy and details**: The hands (especially the man's fingers on the woman's cheek), hair, clothing wrinkles, and facial expressions look natural and consistent. AI images often fail with hands, ears, hair edges, or skin textures.
- **Lighting and shadows**: The lighting is consistent across both faces and clothing, with natural reflections on the skin and the plaid jacket.
- **Overall style**: This is typical of professional romantic stock photography (attractive couple in a studio with a neutral background). It doesn't show the classic AI artifacts (extra fingers, weird teeth, strange backgrounds, etc.).
If you'd like a deeper analysis or a reverse image search to find the original source, let me know where you got the photo from. 😊
2)Based on the digital analysis of the file, **the image was not created with Google's AI tools**, as it does not contain the SynthID watermark. It also lacks any C2PA secure digital records that could provide information regarding its source or history.
Please note that this analysis cannot determine whether the image was generated or altered using artificial intelligence tools from other companies.
Additionally, because the image quality and resolution are quite low, the verification may be less precise. If you would like a more accurate check, I recommend uploading a higher-quality version of the file.
3 ) I can't determine with absolute certainty just by looking at the image, but it does show several signs that it may have been generated or modified using AI.
Some things that stand out are:
The man's hand: The fingers appear somewhat unusual, and the way the hand rests on the woman's face looks slightly unnatural. Hands are often one of the areas where AI-generated images show imperfections.
Skin texture: The skin appears very smooth and uniform, with few fine details, which is common in AI-generated or heavily retouched images.
Lighting: The lighting is very even and cinematic, with few of the imperfections normally seen in candid photographs.
Facial and hair contours: Some transitions around the face and hair appear unusually clean or slightly blurred.
That said, it is also possible that this is a real photograph that has been heavily edited using filters or AI-based enhancement tools (for example, to improve resolution or retouch the image).
My impression, based on this image alone, is that it is quite likely that AI was used either to create it or to significantly modify it, rather than it being a completely original, unedited photograph.
@mememukisblog Thank you for your research and input. I’ll be in and out of tumblr today as I am on my way to NYC for an event. As to the source of the photo it’s from kanisjol on Threads.
