Claire and Jamie modern AU. Set in late 40s after WW2. Jamie is a 23 yr old soldier in the army when he was left with the family estate deep in the Scottish Highlands after his father passed away. He makes a hasty return from France,where he was stationed. But when he arrived, the house wasn't in the best shape. And it would cost a lot to upkeep. His sister Janet wants to sell it, Jamie decides to keep his family home when Claire Randell, a mysterious 26 year old nurse comes into his life…

Do we think he keeps mentioning the scene by the river from S1 (one of my absolute favorites, btw) because that’s when he fell totally, completely, irrevocably, madly and hopelessly in love with her, during their chemistry test, and he knew he had found the missing piece in his life, the other half of his heart, the perfect mate of his soul, and he was finally done searching? They were born for each other, and I’m so glad that out of billions of people on this earth they found each other.❤️

It seems that the River Scene is one that is always upper most in both of their minds. Sam mentioned it as one of his favorite Jamie x Claire scenes he and Caitirona has ever filmed, and recently Caitriona said the same thing. And I’m sure it’s been mentioned several times before this. And who’s to blame them? Not only was the actual scene incredibly acted, but it also marks when their beautiful journey together started. When fate brings two people together like that, it’s hard not to think about it all the time. I’m glad about that too, Anon 💜💜💜

I refuse to give Sam’s fake relationship any airtime! Keeping the conversation going is like feeding fuel to that farce and drives PR to do more! He can sell his booze better without the circus and the clownette. Be a more serious and respectable businessman without the side show. The focus should be on the products! There will be more buzz if he and Caitriona just be themselves. They’ve always flaunted they have “each other’s back”. Has she visited his distillery publicly to show support?

We need some of your words today

Honestly, I think I’ve already said most of what I wanted to say. If you’ve been following this blog from the beginning, then you already know where I stand. For now, I don’t think there’s much left for me to add. More importantly, I don’t want this blog to become a running commentary on one woman and her social media behaviour. I’m The Heughan Observer, not the Bullock Bulletin.

At this point, I’m simply tired of thinking about someone whose public behaviour I personally find increasingly immature. And I don’t use that word lightly. We’re talking about a woman in her mid-thirties and a mother. Whatever the intention behind these repeated games may be, I’m no longer interested in trying to decode them.

What I do keep coming back to is Sam. Over the years, he’s become increasingly protective of the people he considers part of his private life. Family and long-term friends. Those boundaries have, if anything, become even stronger. Which is exactly why the current exception stands out so much. To me, this isn’t really about what he feels.

It’s about what he appears to consider worth protecting and what he doesn’t.

If Sam does something genuinely interesting, if there’s a new pattern worth analysing, I’ll happily write about it. But as soon as the conversation becomes another round of situationship theatre, I’m out.

The Observer has seen enough of this shitshow.

Am I reading too much into this? Or does it feel like someone enjoys keeping themselves at the centre of the conversation? *Sarcasm*

We've always been told that SH fiercely guards his private life. Interviews, red carpets, social media, his own books and straight from the horses mouth (pun intended 😁)-he's consistently given the impression that what happens behind closed doors stays there.

So, if you were dating someone like that, wouldn't you naturally become just as protective of their privacy?

Instead, what we've seen (or at least what it looks like from the outside) is a steady trail of breadcrumbs: the same locations, carefully timed holiday hints, and then the now-you-see-it-now-you-don't couple photo that was posted and quietly deleted a few hours later.

If your partner is genuinely private, why draw attention to the relationship at all?

Maybe there's a perfectly innocent explanation. Maybe everything shared is with Sam's blessing. Maybe the deleted posts were simply a moment of poor judgment.

But if MW's public reputation for enjoying the spotlight around famous partners has any truth to it,(and I believe it is true) I can't help but ask whether this is another example of that—or whether we're all being encouraged to look exactly where someone wants us to look instead of elsewhere.

It's sad, because this attention-seeking is actually working, we're constantly talking about her. Constantly giving her this attention she so craves. We need to stop. Stop giving her the stage.

I've tried my best not to post anything related to her.

Tried to keep my focus on Sam and his projects, but unfortunately they're non existent. (Sports, booze and motorcycles can only take me so far...)

If MW wasn't in the picture (see what I did there 😉) there would be nothing to talk about regarding him. So I guess that says more to me than any of this.

I honestly don't know what to think anymore, what I do know is that it feels completely at odds with the image SH has cultivated for years. Either he's become remarkably comfortable with public displays of his private life...I somehow doubt that... or someone else has a very different definition of "keeping things private."

I apologize for the ranting 🫣

Yo creo que S económicamente desde hace tiempo lo esta pasando mal y puede que de ahí derive sus signos de estrés. Mantener una destilería con los gastos que conlleva y sinceramente no creo que las ventas den para pagarlo todo. También hay que pagar los caprichos, los viajes, las compañías o mejor dicho al reparto o componentes de un circo. Quizás por estos motivos no le quede otra cosa que hacer estas payasadas pensando en salvar la situación, cosa que visto lo visto está arruinando su “reputación” por no decir su carrera. Creo que S es una persona impulsiva y como no tenía ningún proyecto “rentable” como una película ( a parte Embassy) se ha visto con el agua al cuello y como mantener un perfil alto? Pues lo que le quedaba era sus seguidores de OL (que muchas piensan que el sea Jamie LOL solo hay que leer algunos comentarios en IG) y para mantener enganchados a estos han creado este guion de mierda y de bajo presupuesto. ¿S levantará cabeza? ¿Como se puede salir de esta situación? Yo lo veo complicado. ¿Alguien lo piensa como yo?

I obviously don’t know what Sam’s financial situation looks like, so I’m careful not to make definitive claims. But there is a lot of logic in what you’re saying, considering what we know about his wealth and the enormous investment in the distillery, which may or may not be paying for itself yet.

I can only assume that this is one of the things weighing on him over the past year. Because it isn’t just the property and the renovation. It’s employees, salaries, and people whose livelihoods depend on him. And unfortunately, he still doesn’t seem to be making much of an effort to expand his audience.

If I were him, I would completely rethink my image.

I’d lean into something more classic and polished. Maybe grow the beard out a little for the prestige factor. Present a stable, loving relationship with a woman who exudes style and intelligence. I think he knows where to find one. And generally create a sense of premium around both himself and the people connected to him.

At the end of the day, just because he didn’t name the brand “Heughan” doesn’t mean he isn’t the face of it.

He needs to reach a male audience, because realistically, that is still the demographic consuming more whisky, vodka, and tequila. And if he wants to sell a premium brand at premium prices, he cannot keep presenting himself like some tacky nightclub guy covered in accessories, rings, and kitschy tattoos.

I have no doubt that a more refined image would also open more doors for him as an actor than whatever this undefined persona is that he’s selling right now.

To me, it also feels less like a carefully planned strategy and more like someone scrambling to stay relevant after the end of a career-defining role.

The problem is that this kind of publicity only works for so long. If people keep talking more about the circus surrounding you than the work itself, it's a warning sign. Fame built on noise is fragile. A strong performance in a great project lasts much longer. (Real hit and miss with Macbeth)

Whether there are financial pressures behind the scenes, none of us can know for sure. But from the outside, it does seem as though the focus has shifted away from acting and onto keeping attention at any cost. That's a risky game because audiences eventually grow tired of manufactured drama. And we are getting tired, fast.

If he wants to turn things around, I think the answer is surprisingly simple: let the work speak. Find a genuinely compelling role, remind people why they became fans in the first place, and stop trying to create headlines. Talent-not spectacle-is what builds a lasting career.

Everything about it is so cheap and low-budget that showing up in a classy casual outfit—because let's be honest, mate, we all know you can pull one off—would stick out like a sore thumb. A vacation at an overcrowded tourist hotspot, standing in line like every other tourist? A Story where the location just accidentally slips into the frame as if nobody noticed? That's such a tired cliché from bad movies: make it look like an accident.

Hi Everyone: while I was looking for that video of a boat going out to one of the Scottish isles, I bumped into this bit of info that Outlander was going to skip SDCC in 2016, which happened to be scheduled from July 21st to the 24th! I wonder why? Wink, wink, winky dink, dink! DG was quoted as saying "because everyone is otherwise engaged". Really, DG? Caitriona told George Clooney she was going to be off for the summer and Sam was photographed out and about in casual clothes in NYC!!! Obviously the leads were available! Maril too responded with 3 short words! JMHO, I guess life just got in the way of that SDCC. Still I would guess, a wonderful reason that July!

Fast forward to September when they were filming the birth of Brianna and the hospital scene with Claire, Frank and Newborn Brianna, we got a BTS where Tobias was holding the baby who played Newborn Brianna (who happened to be oversized for a newborn but I guess some people wanted to give that baby her screen debut). There was a short haired lady in the picture with the back to the camera that looked to me maybe Granny Heughan? Just speculating, folks!

Sam too was seen lurking during that first day of filming as attested to by fans who were given the "amnesia" donuts to forget about that sighting.

My theory about the change Sam seems to be going through comes from something he has said several times about Jamie’s boots.

When he puts the boots on, he feels like he becomes him. The weight changes the way he walks. He becomes someone else.

And that made me think.

A lot of actors use props to get into character. And what Sam has been doing over the past year really does feel like playing a different character.

It’s a little hard for me to believe that people change that dramatically at this age... So maybe he decided that “Public Sam” is a character of its own.

And for that character, he added a necklace. Then rings. Then more rings. And now a bracelet. Maybe he uses them the same way he used Jamie’s boots, as props to help him step into the role.

Maybe the nervous tics and blinking is the effort of trying to hold the character together?

Maybe he keeps adding more and more accessories because the performance isn’t enough on its own anymore?

Just throwing this thought out into the world… I’m genuinely curious what you all think.
